The Thorol get their names from the elves. They called them this and it stuck, Thorol meaning "fishing" or "to fish." The "walrus" people live in small communities with buildings being leather tents. There is little difference between the males and females other than lack of tusks. Children don't leave from the den until they are old enough to make their own bow and fishing pole. The den is a dug out hollow under ground or into a mountain where mothers go to give birth and raise their children. Many different villages may share one den. The shamans of the Thorol are their healers as well as elders or wise-men of the tribe, and also lead it. When shamans are born, the tribe wise man-takes them to train once they are old enough to leave the den. Very few shamans are born in a tribe.

Thorol accept outsiders as their own while they are around, and also are always neutral in times of war unless attacked. They do not grasp any magic well but have been known to use some forms of divine.

Thorol can hold their breath for long periods of time. They exist well in cold climates but don't mind others. they prefer not to go into deserts or rain forests.
