If I took the Half-Goristro version of the half-feind template, statted out here http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060630a , and just completely threw out the Spell Like Ability's and Smite Special attack, how much would the LA change? Would it actually come down from that insane +4?

The SLAs are like the best part of that template. Without them you're crummier than even a Half-Dragon. I'd say LA +2 would be fair.

Ok, so, new though. What if I took it down on one, at will SLA, a modified version of alter self that basically only allowed you to get down to large and medium size when they were more convenient, maybe allowed you to pass for what ever base race the template was tacked on more easily, and had that as the only SLA, and then dropped the wings that Half Feind get's as a standard.

Still a fair LA +2 Template? Or does it climb up to +3?

Enlarge person that can be turned on or off at will combined with a single race disguise self is not very strong., Axing Flight entirely certainly isn't going to contribute to upping the LA.

LA+2 should cover the benefits of large size in addition to the other bennies.
