In Pathfinder it says that

A rogue adds 1/2 her level to Perception skill checks made to locate traps and to Disable Device skill checks (minimum +1). A rogue can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps.

I'm taking the first level dip of a rogue for my alchemist build (vivisectionist, and the scout and rake archetypes of a rogue are sexy for anything using sneak attack).

Trapfinding isn't a concern for the build, I just want to make sure I'm right in assuming it's class level (i.e. if I am rogue 1/alchemist 5 I will only add +1 to disable device/perception for traps, not +3).

Thanks.

Edit: whoops looks like it's a non-issue as rake gets rid of trapfinding. I'm still curious though.

Your intuition is right: whenever a class ability talks about something related to levels, it means class levels, not character levels.

I'm pretty sure that it is class level because otherwise massive dipping cheesy would otherwise occur.
