The day started like any other. The alarm goes off in your dorms to signal that it's time to switch shifts. The night shift is about to be up to take your warm bed from you. After you are up, dressed and ready to get to work, you check your datapad to find your floor. Same as yesterday, the 14th floor.

The 14th floor is the newest on the mining colony. It only opened a week ago, so it is still short, and hardly cleared out at all. It also has the highest chance of finding Kouhun, the tiny pale centapedes about 30cm long that live on this super heated rock by burrying into the ground. While their bites are nothing to laugh at, they're deadly because of their poison. The little bastards are rare enough, even in a new tunnel, but every suprvisor on a mining squad is given two cures just in case.

You catch up to the rest of your mining squad after breakfast heading to the elevator.

Devon Vontar and Rokadu, both miners
Termil Ogren, the droids mechanic
Ro'vida Ma'seca, your supervisor
and 3 KM1 mining droids

The elvator finally comes to a stop at the bottom of the tunnels and opens the doors. Not two steps in and you find a Kouhun crawling over one of the ore carts. It certainly hasn't seen you all yet.

"Devon. Rokadu." Ro'vida Ma'seca whispered to the miners. "Over there, a Kouhun. You see it?" He pointed it out over by the mining cart and ordered them, "You two get over there and take care of it."

Devon Vontar

Devon moves slowly so as not to alert the Kouhun, unclipping his blaster from its holster and drawing it as quietly as possible. Flipping the setting to stun so as not to damage the cart, he ducks down to get out of the Kouhun's line of sight and creeps forward to get into range, then aims carefully and takes a shot.

Take 10 on stealth check, 17.

Draw blaster, set for stun, move to F14.

Aim (in case it has cover from the cart), and fire at the Kouhun in C12, point blank range.

attack:
[roll0]

stun damage: [roll1]. -1 condition track if target is still unaware (denied reflex), -2 if damage exceeds threshold (total possible condition track damage -3). Actual damage is stun damage divided by 2.

The tiny Kouhun luckily avoids the blast, and scurries out of sight behind the cart. As you look behind the cart for it, it seems it has scuried into one of the cracks in the wall and vanished.

Ro'vida laughs at the missed shot, "A bit rusty are we?" Pulling out his mace, he says, "I don't want to be unprepared. Looks like these little buggers are going to be trouble today. Now, keep moving."

The kouhun isn't seen again after the first blast, so you continue to work for the next few hours. Thhe freighters for today landed during your lunch break as always at the end of the week. As the call goes out for the shipments of ore, you all begin pushing the carts up while the droids continue working. Suddenly Devon, you feel something crawling over your legs...

Surprise round: All flat footed due to stealth
Devon:
Kouhun1: [roll0] vs Flat-Footed (12)
Damage: [roll1] if hit
Poison: [roll2] vs Fort (11) if hit
Damage: [roll3] if poison hit. Half damage if not

Not again. Consider this a request for a security escort in tunnel 14.

On turn:
(Move) Draw blaster pistol.
(Move) Activate glow rod and keep it pointed at kouhun.
(swift) Begin to aim.

Information?
Any information you can provide on our mining droids?

Ro'vida used his authority to bark out commands, "Damn vermin! Watch yourself over there Devon! Rokadu, help him out." He prepared his blaster pistol, switching it to stun, in case they needed his help. "Don't get poisoned please. I really don't want to fill out that paperwork." He tried to joke to lighten the tense situation.

Move: Draw sporting blaster pistol
Swift: Switch to stun mode

Termil winces at the words. Paperwork!? I was hit by one of them last month, down in 12. Look ... just, uh, just get it off of you and run, huh? Let's keep the droids between it and us.

Devon Vontar
Devon jumps away from the centipede, ducks around the mining droid behind him, and puts himself between two mining droids.

"Waste the kriffing thing!" he shouts.

Assuming the droids are in difficult terrain and Devon is not knocked unconscious by the Kouhun. Withdraw to F6, move to E4.

"Look, Termil, I know it's a silly worm but I don't want it on the droids so I'm not putting the droids between it and us. And we might as well kill it now. Don't want it biting anyone that comes down here later do we?"

Ro'vida noticed that Devon had shifted away from the creature. He laughed and jokingly mocked him, "What's the matter Devon? Scared of a little bug?" While he was indeed their supervisor, he preferred to treat them like his friends. "Rokadu, can you deal with that pest? We need to get back to the shipment that came in."

Devon

"Tough talk from way over there!" Devon yells back to Ro'vida.

so, is rokadu not security now? he's a miner? if it is important that he is a miner, could he also be security, or some other combo like that? or maybe he's trying to get one of the security jobs, but was convinced to take a mining job in the meanwhile.

Rokadu is a little slow to realize the danger that his friends were in, consumed as he was by the fact that his cart was wedged firmly between the narrow walls at a chokepoint.

When he finally hears all of the yelling above his own curses and cart-kicking, he turns and sees a slithering creature on Devin's boot..

Rokadu drops his ming tool, forgets the stuck cart, and leaps past his allies, slamming his armored fists down in an attack on the creature, hoping deviously to also catch Devin's toes in the process.

move act––move to f8, atop cart
standard––melee attack vs centipede thing
*attack: [roll0]-1
damage: [roll1]-1

EDIT: well that was spectacular. even if i get the extra +4, i doubt a 6 is going to hit the bug. damn forum roller.

*i misread something in the rules. my plan was to tumble past it in order to get the +5 to attack roll from my acrobatic strike feat, but i was unaware until now that tumbling was a trained-only application of the acrobatics skill.

would you mind if i switch my training in the pilot skill to acrobatics? if not, no worries; it was a newbie mistake. i'll just try to fix that when i gain a level. but if so, then consider my attack roll to be 4 points higher if i make this DC 15 tumble check ([roll2]+8).

The dug growls and howls like a maniac as he rushes over there, as much a rabid animal as a sentient being, and gleefully smashes at the bug over and over.

A lot of good you'll do, flopping around like that. Nobody can get a clear shot with you in there; the thing's too small and quick!

Rokadu slips on the smooth, wet floor at the last second and sails rather clumsily into the side of the mining cart, not at all the exemplar of dug coordination and reflexes that he is expected to be.

After shaking his head to clear the stars from his vision, he sticks out the toes of his left foot in a rude gesture at Termil, and then goes back to trying to smash the venomous bug.
