Spontaneously Converting Turn Undead Attempts

I am running a pally and wish to use the Death Devotion feat from Complete Champion, which requires you to use turn attempts for extra uses. My DM is requiring me to find the book and page number that says that turn undead attempts can be expended spontaneously. Help would be much appreciated!

Your DM doesn't understand Turn Undead.

pg 53 of Complete Champion in the description of Divine Feats. Also, every Devotion Feat and Divine Feat (including in complete Divine) says it in the description.
