Hey guys, I'm new to the whole psionics thing, and I was hoping for a bit of input. I've always thought that psions were wizards who didn't want to carry a spell book, but looking at the PF rule set, it looks like they're closer to a wizard who doesn't want to function as utility for the party. I mean, it just seems like so much of their stuff is self only, where the wizard would be dropping it on everyone. Flight for example, both flight, and overland flight are self only, as well as the psionic version of resist energy. Were psions this "selfish" in 3.5? Or did they lose some of their group buffing utility on PF?

No, they were that selfish in 3.5 as well. It's one of the key differences between psionics and magic.

Pathfinder Psions are actually an improvement - Egoists can share many of their powers with the party by augmenting them, using their "Shared Effect" ability.

But if you really want a group-oriented manifester, you may want to pick up Psionics Expanded for the Vitalist class (see handbook in my sig.)

You can use those if you don't have PE.
