View Full Version : When will we re-encounter the King of Nowhere plotline?

It seems like there are an increasing number of references to political maneuvering / intrigue between and among the various Oots kingdoms, and I'm curious how these will play out. (many citations in my next post below).

My bet is before this time next year (2013) there will be a reference made to the assassination attempt in 242 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0242.html). Is anyone else curious about the kingdoms of Nowhere, Somewhere and Anywhere) from the Who's on the Throne strip? (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0226.html)

That was years and hundred of strips ago. Why do you think it would come back? :smallconfused:

And it was revisited (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0535.html).

It seems like there is a nation-states plot line emerging with the EoB, Gobtopia (including its forming alliances with Cliffport (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0702.html)), the sensitive information (third from last panel) (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0754.html)Gourntonk has for the Empress of Blood's earholes only), Thanh's diplomatic mission to Nowhere (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0535.html), and the "political complexities" (Panel 1) (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0757.html) involved in Tarquin's betrayal of Captain Amun-Zora. An assassination attempt in a kingdom seems like it will figure in somehow.

Or maybe it is just in order to add some color to the scenes. Give a feeling that the world is bigger and there is a lot going on.

I doubt that the Giant has actually constructed the relations, histories and policies of the various countries in detail, Tolkien style, beyond trying to keep the references consistent. I doubt even more that it will be important plot points.

We won't, it was a joke.

That said, I think Gourntonk's message is going to be important, but I doubt we'll see more of the Nowhere stuff outside of gags.

Agree with the Jeraff. I'm thinking most of the rest is fleshing out the world, making it seem more real and thriving than just what we see going on.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that the Kingdom of Nowhere is on the other continent, so if it comes back up, it probably won't be until the Order returns there. Though it could come up in a plotline involving Gobbotopia, but I don't know how much of Gobbotopia we'll see after Xykon, Redcloak, and the MitD leave.

Highly unlikely. At most we might see another one-off reference to it.

It was just a one time joke. There's no reason for it to ever return. Why not just have a resurrected cyborg Trigak during the final showdown?

That would be a pretty cool callback, actually.

We already know what happened here. The Empire of Blood and the Weepies are secretly working together to consolidate power in the continent

Kornaki, that's true. The point I hoped to make is that its seems like the Giant is telling a story about politics between kingdoms.
