Looking for options for my lvl5 Cleric.

Disadvantages:
(1) Cannot spontaneously cast cure spells (ouch!).
(2) Limit spell selection from hundreds of spells (or at least many dozen) to ... 5 lvl1, 3 lvl2, 1 lvl3 spells. Wow, that sucks.

Advantages:
(1) Can spontaneously cast these ... very few spells. Decent.
(2) Cast one spell more per spell level per day. Lousy.

This seems like a really, really bad trade. Opinions on that?

Thanks
T.

Well, just as it says, you trade versatility for more uses of the few spells you know. Won't be as powerful, but can still be fun the way a sorceror is.

You could also just play a Favored Soul, though if you are already playing this character, that's not much help.

If you will get miracle (level 9) you don't loose so much. Because you can use it to duplicate any spell:
- cleric spell of 8th level or lower
- any other spell of 7th level or lower
without paying XP. But yes it's less powerful but can be fun too (and may be better for some styles of play (like you like to prepare before game session (choose good spells known) but don't want to bother wit it during game session )).
