The latest comics discussion thread has prompted me to propose my personal theory about the Draketooths, for your viewing pleasure.
-Girard Draketooth is dead. Like Soon before him, he passed the responsibility of protecting the Gate to his heirs. Thus we have a much less experienced offspring facing the possibility of an uberpowerful Lich sorceror coming for the macguffin. Sure, Dad left the major protections around, but for the most part, it is just the clan and a much less formidable guardian left. The Draketooths may be counting on the help of the OOTS just as much as the OOTS is counting on their help, but for now the Draketooths are paranoid, unsure of the Order's truthworthiness, perhaps working with limited knowledge of the Order AND the Xykon threat, so they are endeavoring to simply keep everyone out.
