View Full Version : Personal range spells on other people

Is their any way to cast personal spells on other people? I don't care how cheesy or TO it is, I just wonder if there is any loophole in the system to accomplish it. The only thing I can think of is sharing spells with your animal companion/familiar, but thats not another person, that's a class feature.

IIRC the Spellguard of Silverymoon can do that, with some limitations. It's a faerun PrC.

Doesn't the meta magic feat called reach spell do this?

Unfortunately not, it makes touch spells into ranged ones.

Well I know the war weaver can do it. But it may not be exactly what your looking for.

Master Specialist (CM p. 70) abjurers can cast personal abjuration spells on others three times a day with their major school esoterica.

War weavers explicitly cannot.
"In addition, spells with a range of personal cannot be cast through an eldritch
tapestry."
Ideally the method would involve changing the range of the spell, so they could be castable through the tapestry.

Wow two fumbles in a row, sorry about that, guess I should probably stop trying to help at 5am. I do know there is another way that hasn't been mentioned yet I just can't seem to remember.

I seem to remember something involving the feat "Ocular spell (http://dndtools.eu/feats/lords-of-madness--72/ocular-spell--2079/)". I know it says that personal spells cant be affected but thats my memory. Hmmm.

Sangehirns and True Healer Egoists can cast manifest some personal healing spells by touch. Pathfinder Egoists can manifest any personal psychometabolism power on others.

Easily done!

A ring of spell storing could allow a caster to do this, as a multi-step process (DMG p.233).

1. Caster dons ring.
2. Caster adds spell with range(personal) to ring.
3. Caster doffs ring.
4. Other character dons ring.
5. Other character casts stored range(personal) spell on himself.

This doesn't actually change the range though. So it can't be put into the tapestry.

Limitations that can get overdone with the magic from the land feat (so every buff that you use heals) or the ACF of the favored soul.

Human Favored Soul 4/Church Inquisitor 1/Exalted Arcanist 1/War Weaver 5 Spellguard of Silverymoon 4/Sacred Exorcist 1/Incantatrix 4

Is nasty (cheesing with magical training and precocious aprentice and getting into exalted arcanist to actually have arcane spells)

Hand the target a scroll or potion of whatever.

If your DM allows it, you might be able to splash someone with a potion if they aren't willing to drink it.

In addition to the Share Spells familiar/animal companion class feature and the Ring of Spell Sharing magic item (SRD) already mentioned, you can:

Put the spell you want to give into a casting of Energy Transformation Field (SC), which has no limitations on the spell that can be put into it.
Buy a lesser or greater Glyph Seal magic item (MIC), and put the spell in it.
Buy Bracelets of Spell Sharing magic item (DMG2), allowing you to cast on your and a partner at the same time.
Cast Shapechange and turn into a Symbiont and latch onto your target, so spells you cast are shared with them.

Can that apply to the shapechange spell itself?

What I am really aiming for is the ability to give the entire party shapeshift, though things that don't actually lead to this are interesting too.

Personal spells can't be made into potions and the likelihood of the entire party having UMD to use a scroll are slim to none, since I don't think the party in question is a group of wizards or some such.

Which is why you use Skull Talismans (Frostburn).

Glyph Seals (MIC) would also work, as mentioned by Cruiser1. Hadn't heard of the symbiont trick before... very clever.

you know, i tend to only use skull talismans as fun traps. have a big room littered with skulls. knock one off of a high shelf, or step on one, and BOOM GOES A FIREBALL

The alchemist in pathfinder can make his extracts into infusions that others can use, this includes personal spells.

O? O what? While this forum is about games, it's not about crossword puzzle clues. :smallconfused:

Check the team solars tread by douglas (I think), it is extreme optimization and all the party is going around in Solar shape, I am pretty sure they used Spellguard of Silvery moon.

If I recall correctly they also used symbionts.

ring of spell storing is my personal favorite. it is simple and it was meant to work in exactly that way; no DM can argue against it.

I didn't read that one here yet:
Magic Jar
1. posses one person,
2. cast spell on 'yourself'
3. jump into next person
4. cast spell on 'yourself'
5. goto 3
6. ???
7. Profit
