Cancer Mage (not that one)

Hey folks,

I have this novel character idea in mind. I'm thinking about a character who was born under the astrological sign of Cancer (the Crab) and therefore takes on the qualities of the sign.

Naturally, sorcerer seems easy to work in with this idea. What spells could go along with this theme? What alternate class features could fit in easily?

Also if there is some other type of information that would fit this theme it would be greatly appreciated. Any WotC source is good.

Lots of enchanter vibe to me, so I'd go with that over sorcerer. Maybe custom build a crab familiar. (+2 grapple, +2 swim)

I might go with Artificer, and make that crab-machine wonderous item. There was a thread quite awhile back about optimizing/customizing that thing. With spell turrets and the like, it could become something quite fun.
