I was re-reading the Crayons Of Time strips just now, when I happened upon something very interesting.

In #277 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0277.html), Soon is holding the detatched Saphire. As we know from #411 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0411.html) and later strips, (Including the ones where this saphire is shattered!), The Saphire is the gate itself. This all seems fine until we consider the more recent strip, #830 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0830.html), where Redcloak would have to cast an entire ritual to move a gate.

Soon is seen holding the Small Azure City Gate in his hand (or as close as you can come with crayon-drawn stick figures.). This makes me wonder why Redcloack couldn't just cast a standard Teleport spell of some variety, or Plane Shift (Using the manner that makes something disappear and reappear elsewhere, as in #497 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0497.html), rather than the Portal-esque gate thingy.) on the Gate, rather than having to resort to the Dark One's ritual.

It occurs to me as I write this that it make just be metaphorical, with the passing down of the honour of command of the Saphire Guard, but I somehow think otherwise. It may just been a minor inconsistency - hundreds of strips and many years has passed since then, so The Giant's thoughts may change. Am I reading too much into this minor detail? Is Girard and Kragor's gate simply too big to move? What is your opinion?

Thanks for Reading.

I'm afraid your assumptions are incorrect. Please read this (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11686931&postcount=83).

This info helpfully brought to you by the Index of the Giant's Comments (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=220195).
