I am quite well versed in that. Believe me I tried. These are all older cards, and the artists seem to have never made a web presence or withdrawn from it (Ron Spencer). Many have galleries, but not all, and I hit a run of them that don't appear to, or that don't have these decade old pieces on their sites.

I've not got a request as much as an appeal, since I don't really need it. I've trying to find pictures of a relatively simple concept, but all I've found are photos of painted miniatures.

Basically I would appreciate any high quality pictures of historically accurate of 15th century Knights/Men-at-Arms/Gendarmes/Chevaliers.
EDIT: If the armour is really polished and shiny that would be a definite bonus.

I'm looking for a human female, with medium armour (chain mail shirt). Doesn't have to be visible as such, but at least suggested that there is armour under the clothes/cloak, so those ranger leather bikini coconut cleavage tops I seem to see in a lot of archer pictures are right out. :smalltongue:
On that note, a longbow somewhere in the picture would be nice. Everything else is rather fungible so feel free to skip the rest but bonus points for a general tomboy/fighter feel, longsword, and a woodsy feel to the clothing (an earth-tones way, not an animal companion way). Preferably alone in the picture. I suppose to put another way, a vibe of female Strider (lotr); decent armour/coverage and a longbow focus?

How big of a deal is the magic arrow? Because it looks like photoshopping out the background people and humanizing the ears wouldn't be too hard.

The arrow is tougher because its a light source, so you have to not only replace it with a non-magical arrow, but also remove the effects from the light source. Maybe you could write it off as a magic item?

Oh, it's not really that big of a deal, it's more that doing stuff like that, there are other larger pictures that'd be easier to start from. That, and it was something of an offhand comment to point out some of the things that technically go against what I said in my description but it was nice enough to put in anyway. :smallwink:

Seeing that picture, I immediately thought it was Hunger Games fan-art. After checking the artist's page, it turns out that's exactly what it was. Apart from her looking like Jennifer Lawrence, I think the biggest hint was actually the pin on her vest... :smalltongue: I'm actually sort of annoyed that movie-Katniss doesn't really look similar to the descriptions of book-Katniss.

To add on to the simple requests (I bet this has been posted, but as beefcake and thus ignored by me):

Male drow ("standard", i.e. dark(ish) skin, pale or white long hair) with an Elven Court Blade (think big friggin' rapier), preferentially reasonably covered up (it's for a character I'm going to play. He's an drow exile living on the surface and thus not overly interested in advertising his exact type of elf). If I should prioritize, the court blade but not covered up beats covered up but no big sword (big sword in scabbard on the back can be mistaken for Court Blade...), but choosers can't be beggars or however the saying goes, anything is welcome.

If people with better searching skills are still taking requests for images, I would like a warrior girl with pale skin, straight dark hair (preferably shoulder-length, but longer is acceptable), with an Eastern style sword, and a fur cape (the patchier the better).

I usually just use the strongest focal point that first draws my eye to a picture. Most pictures that have enough landscape in them to be a "landscape" picture usually have the people small/with their backs turned/slightly blurred, specifically so that they do not draw too much attention from the rest of the picture. I usually only save character pictures that either: a.) I think would make a good portrait on a character sheet, or b.) Contains some design element that fits a culture or idea for one of my settings, such as clothing, weapons, armor, hairstyles, etc.

The "gish" folder is just really anything that doesn't fit into the others. I have monks, magus, druids, bards, rangers, etc...

Edit: also "Documents" and "Maps", but those don't come up as often in here. Even if I love collecting fantasy maps.

hey, looking for a pretty specific character likeness:

Wizard (female) with dark, reddish eyes (not glowy, just the only manifestation of tieflingness), with dark hair. it's ok(in fact good) if the image has stuff covered/hidden, she is (at least supposed to be) a master of disguise. must not be armored, but also must not be stripperific. bonus points if the image you find A) has an imp/raven familiar hanging around, B) has got some sort of indication that this is someone who specializes in transmutation/disguise, C) has no indication of enchantment/evocation, and D) is using some sort of polearm

in summary:
-female tiefling
-transmuter (banning evoc and ench.)
-disguise artist
-imp familiar
-polearm

Hey everyone,

So i've probably been stalking this thread for a good few years now, and only now need to request its services. i have two requests, one that i would like sooner rather than later, but neither need to be filled particularly quickly - kind of whenever people get around to it.

so the first (and would rather have first as well...):
i would like a picture of a male celestial - human-looking, with fair skin and blonde hair - both of those are necessary. as for what he is wearing, chainmail, or a combination of leather and chainmail, but i would like it to be obvious that he is wearing chainmail. he also happens to be wearing a werewolf pelt cloak - that is not a necessary requirement, if you happen to find a picture of something like that, i applaud you. he should have a bow on his back, a shortsword at his side, and a halberd somewhere. the look that i would like to have conveyed is that he is a mercenary. as for stance, preferably just standing, but this aspect i'm willing to be flexible on. i hope that this description works... i appreciate any effort put in by anyone :smallsmile:.

now, the second character (the one that i don't need to have anytime soon...):
a tall (6'9" to be exact) male human (~200 lb), wearing plate armor. however, the plate armor isn't particularly ordinary - its black, with red trim, and has spikes and ridges all over it (go easy on the spikes though, i don't want spikes that are, like, 3 feet long...), his helmet (which he can either be wearing, or have at his side) is a modified bucket-helm style that has big horns curling forward (think minotaur horns rather than ram horns). the look that i want to convey with the armor is that, if he was walking through mist (or back-lit by flames) he would look like a demon.
Now, optional things include weaponry - a flail (aka mace-and-chain), a bastard sword, and, if possible, spiked gauntlets.

that is all. as for tax, i don't have anything worthy of contribution - although if i could find my old high school planner, i could upload a scan of a pretty cool drawing (read: doodle) i made of a knight in bloodstained armor... if i find it, i'll upload it. anyways, i appreciate any pictures that you guys find.

Yeah, i figured my first request wouldn't get as many results - if anyone can find any more that might fit a bit better, i would really appreciate it.

Now, the ones that you found for my second request are REALLY good. I really like the one on the horse - a little bit of photoshop recoloring, and that one would be EPIC. I also really like the one with the girl next to him, but i don't like the girl being there - unfortunately my photoshop-fu is not THAT good... I also really liked the last one - the crusader one - you found - for a brief moment i was tempted to say that THAT is what he looked like, but then i realized that it would involve a lot of ret-conning... so yeah i really liked the stuff you found for my second request - but yeah, my first request is a bit more difficult. so if anyone finds anything for my first request, go ahead and post it. in fact, if you find something that you think looks really good for my SECOND request, go ahead and post it as well - its fun to see what people find.

If its a non-human entity you want, a great place to start is with magic cards.
For example, for dragons

Each creature in Magic has a creature type, covering vast swaths of the stuff you would expect. You can replace the word dragon in the link above to look for other types of creatures.

If you see one that looks like what you want and you want a closer look, googe image searching "Artist's Name Card's name" usually pulls it right up.

I think the hardest part when I did a look around for white or green hair I got a lot of images with horns on the druids head for some silly reason, so I was worried I'd end up with more of those.

The character is a female half-orc wizard. Most of the pictures I've seen that DO depict half-orc (or just orc) mages or wizards tend not to have very much clothing, and I don't imagine the character dressing that provocatively. Tattoos are a plus but not necessary.
