You five prisoners, have spent the last few weeks in the bowel's of a dungeon, in the city of Lekar, in the Country of Falkovnia. At first, you were tourchered on a routinely basis, at the end of every day. Eventually, when they were satisfied with the information you each gave, these sessions stopped. You were each assigned your own cells, as The Talons believed you all to be very dangerous individuals. One day when you had all had your slop for breakfast, a guard came to inform you, "Your trial begins in a few moments time, gather yourself." Afterwards, the said guard escorted you to the "trial" which found you each guilty of your various crimes, and given your punishments. "A fate worse than death." The judge proclaimed loudly. "Banishment!" Immediately you were all drawn together, given your choice of the most basic of weapons, and given a waterskin each. Then you were brought to the gates of the city, and sent forth, with an armed escort of twenty men. Two hard days of marching later, the guards give you your weapons, and told you to march forth, into the wall of mist that had gathered before you!

Roughly thrown to the ground, Savina squints up a the armed guard as he tosses a rough-hewn club at her feet.

"No goodbye kiss?! And here I thought you were giving me sexy eyes the whole way here!" Savina calls after the guard, brushing off her butt and knees. She picks up the club and looks at it longingly, thinking of how much she'd rather have a dagger or two in her hands.

Looking back at her new ragtag group, she is hit with a pang of sadness... Memories of her friends in Neverwinter cloud her mind. Shaking her head from the clouds of meloncholy.

"Hey there. I'm Savina, youngest daughter to the Godfather, Jalepeno Peppers. If you need any covert or underhanded dealings done, I'm your girl!"

The tall and proud man looked at the pitiful selection of weapons the Talons had provided for them - not much better than sticks and stones. Still, the world was a dangerous one, and he would not get far without something. He selected one of the staves, locking eyes with what passed as their quartermaster. "Know this," he hissed. "I shall be returning to this land, and when I do, I will be coming first for your hide. Then your compatriots. And then, finally, your lord's. Make your peace with whatever god you hold precious."

He turned to the other four weary prisoners. "I am Sir Lukas Tenebral, knight in service of Darkon. It seems fate has placed us in each other's care." He raised an eyebrow at Savina's quick and easy mention of illicit activity, and made a mental note to keep an eye on her.

While everyone is introducing themselves Quinn is busy taking stock of the pitiful supplies she and her new companions were given. Although she was more then capable of making due with her sling and water-skin she was worried about the disgusted looks her companions gave their "weapons". As they walk along she begins to pick up rocks, tossing some aside and putting others in her pocket.
First things first we need to find food. I have this sling but the small game it will take down will hardly be enough to feed all of us.
Oh, my name is Quinn. She adds her name almost as an after thought.

Bergen Fellsdale:durkon:

Prodded along Bergen payed his captors little mind. He had his water skin tied tight to his belt, and that splintered, old club they had given him. Once he and his new companions were let go he turned to the men and gave them a bright smile.

Remeber the name Bergen Fellsdale gentlemen. When Pelors light shines down upon the land and your ruler sees that his totalitarian ways are hiding the true pantheon of gods from your people...you will rejoice in the knowledge that you are truly free, and lament sending away any such as myself and my comrades."

Of course, Bergen had no idea why these others were captured, a cheerful attitude merely figuring that they were falsely imprisoned, as he had been.

Turning to look at the gathered people he gave a nod to them in turn.

"A pleasure to meet you all, I am Bergen..Priest of Pelor. I bring the light to all that sits in darkness. I too wish we were met under differing circumstances but now we must make what we can of what we have. If we happen to find anything as suitable sustenance I have clerical power to purify such things for safeties sake."

He made such idle conversation among them as they began their journey.

Some of the more cruel guards chuckle at all of your threats, while the leader tells you all that if you are seen in these lands again, you'll be impaled. They watch in amusement, as you all walk into the swirling mist, which seems to grow thicker and move faster around you. Unsure whether you have been in its clammy grasp for a few minutes, or a few hours, everyone begins to feel very uneasy. Especially when you start to see figures dancing just beyond your full view. You all continue onwards, and eventually, after what seemed an eternity, the mist begins to lighten, you come out of it all in to a bright sunny day, in a very weird looking land, in the distance you see a small town, surrounded on three sides by an ominous looking forrest. The trees around you seem to all be evergreens, when the forrest you were all in before was mostly beeches and elms. The only other feature of note is the small building about a quarter mile from the rest of the houses.

As the group walked into the mists, Sir Tenebral whispered to them. "Stay close, or we may get seperated. That fog is thicker than any I've seen."

When the mists parted, and he found himself in a different forest altogether. He frowned as he saw the village ahead of him. "I would have liked to have found a river or lake to have washed up in before reentering society. The stench of prison is upon all of us. We may have to sing for our suppers - fortunately, I can help with that. I know several chansons that never fail to stir the heart." He started towards the village, humming to himself as he went.

"Liata!"

His club began to shine with a bright light and he rose it up to shoulder height as they walked through the mist. Once out of the encroaching fog and away from the creepy figured therein, he turned his eyes to the town and gave a smile.

"Well, at least the light shines bright here. Perhaps the villagers will be as brightly cheerful."

As you close in on the town, you notice people outside doing their chores, much like any other town. Two riders break from the town, and ride their way up to your group, armed with shortbows, they reign their horses up a couple dozen paces away from you, arrows already notched. You realize suddenly that neither of them is a man full grown, only slight stubble growing from their chins, the oldest shout, to you.

"Who are you? Speak or be shot down!"

They both stare at you with bewildered looks, more brave and hardened then most men twice their age.

After a moments quiet conversation, they agree that you can stay in the village for a while, but, you all must do your share of chores so long as you stay. But they warn you, if you bring harm to anyone, or steal anything, you will be stoned! Also, you must stay away from the old toymaker on the edge of town, if you agree to these terms, they will allow you in.

Sir Lukas bristled slightly at these terms - he had performed menial labor before, at Lady Yestilov's behest, but never for commoners! Still, he had little choice - his body was tired, his belly rumbled, and his will was frayed. "Your terms seem fair, for the most part. I shall agree to them on one condition - why should we stay away from the toymaker? What has he done to earn his ostracization from the town?"

Quinn had been keeping quiet because she was unaccustomed to being in large groups of people having spent most of her life in hiding with only her aunt for company. She had been barely paying attention to the conversation between her companions and the young men, preferring instead to scan the surrounding area and the young men for any possible threat. She was paying enough attention however, to notice how Joshua had referred to his parents in the past tense. She had a feeling that she was about to hear something that she didn't want to...

Centaur Hero

Joshua looks around, "Ive said too much already. Tonight after dinner I can explain more, I can't tell who might be watching.... or listening." He said in a shaky tone, which seems odd considering he showed no fear at all the appearence of five adult strangers.

As you all come into town, you see not one adult in the whole village, only children. Also, you notice that their are no "young" children, most all of them seem to be between seven, and fifteen. But they are all doing various chores and such, you hear clanging coming from the smithy, the sound of chopping wood can be heard from several different places, at the well, young girls are filling pails, or beating carpets from their porches. If anything else seems out of ordinary, aside from all of them gawking at your party, its that none of the kids are playing, or laughing, or merrymaking. They all seem as if they were twenty years older, and much more dour than a child has any business being.

As you come upon the largest house, Joshua reigns his horse up, and ties it to the porch. You smell the scent of a fire coming from the chimney, and also the delicous smell of roasting meat. Outside you see two more boys with the same hair color and complection of Joshua, both sawing a large log in front of the place, before stopping to stare at Joshua, as well as his new guests. A young girl with similar attributes to the boys, is stuffing a matress with goose feathers. Joshua then tells them all to come meet you all. After brief introductions, you know now that they are all his kin, the door opens up, and a girl around joshuas age comes out, she, different from the rest, is paler, with blonde hair and blue eyes, a very pretty girl. You all notice with ease the swollen belly she holds a hand to as she walks up to Joshua and kisses him. He introduces her as his betrothed, and kisses her back. The younger girl giggles from behind her brothers. After a second, Joshua begins assigning you all you're chores, "no one eats for free, mom used to say." At that the younger children began to sullenly go about their chores. "I try to talk about our parents as much as I can, I hope that someday they will accept what happened." He then tells you all that he needs two people to chop kindling, two people to brush down the horses, and give them feed, and one person to fill a couple of buckets of water at the well. The pregnant girl then smiles warmly and informs you all that she is roasting a pig with vegtables from the garden, and there will be plenty for all, and she will also tend to your bedrooms besides. Joshua let's you all deside who is doing what.

As they came to the home finally Bergen was even more taken aback. Simply no adults at all. It would feel reminiscent of an old episode of Star Trek, if such things existed here, which they did not. He decided that some work might be good for him, and set about helping the boys that were sawing the log, mostly by either splitting firewood, if that was their goal, or if not then finding the firewood and going about splitting, or hauling more inside...whichever seemed more helpful.

Quinn was eager to get to work in hopes that some exercise would help clear her mind and help her figure out what was going on in this town. Where were the adults, the children, and the elderly? What of the mysterious toy maker their hosts seemed reluctant to discuss. Something wasn't adding up. Then again allot of things in here life weren't going according to plan lately. Getting arrested. That horrible mist. Now this strange town.
She put a smile on and up stepped forward to offer her hand to Joshua.

A look of concern crossed Lukas' face as he saw the extent of the problems facing the villagers. No adults at all - except the old toymaker that Joshua feared. Somehow, these children had been forced into becoming adults, and were making the best of their lot. Had a warlord like Drakov ridden through this village, taking all the men and women, but leaving the chidlren?

The smell of roasted meat brought moisture to the knight's mouth - it had been some time since he had tasted proper food, and the thought of supping on something besides moldy bread and tainted water was almost unbearable. But he had given his word to assist these children, and would not break it now. "I have experience handling horses, lad. Show me to them, and I will take good care of them."

Seeing all the chores evaporate like water in a desert, Savina trudges along behind Bergen as they set about helping with the firewood. This place sent a shiver down her spine though. @ Savina and Bergen: The brothers gladly accept your help, and although they work in almost absolute silence, you feel as though it is out of shyness, not malevolence. After a couple hours of cutting, and stacking wood, the pregnant girl sounds a bell up on the porch and you are all called to dinner.

@ Jaan and Sir Lukus: Joshua brings you both out to the barn, and shows you the layout and what he expects you to do. While in there, you notice a young boy already in there, pitching hay from the loft. "This is my youngest brother, Jeremiah, he hasnt been right since it happened." He then started off towards the house. "As I said, I will tell you the tale after dinner. Which reminds me, my beloved will ring the bell soon, that means dinner is ready, so hurry along with the chores." After a couple hours in the sour smelling barn, listening to Jeremiah mutter silently to himself, occasionally looking at one of you and narrowing your eyes, you finally hear the bell.

@ Quinn: The young girl, Joshuas sister, disappears for a second, and returns with four large metal pails. She smiles at you and says,"I'll show you how to get to the well, Joshua also wants us to stop by the smithy to grab a set of horseshoes." She keeps a cheery conversation with you, in which she reveals herself to be named Shelly, as well as her being "almost a woman grown" at the age of eleven. Along the way you see the other boy who greeted you on the outskirts named William, who greets you with a shy smile, and a curt nod. Aside from the entertaining young girl, the time passes uneventfully. When you are almost back to the house, you hear a bell, and Shelly takes off running, yelling back to you that dinner is ready.

@ Everyone: As you make your way back to the house, you all of a sudden get a wierd feeling that you are being watched. You shake it off after glancing around and seeing nothing but your companions slowly making their way to the front door. When you all go in, you are shown to your rooms. Savina and Quinn are shown the room they will be sharing by the young pregnant woman, who introduces herself as Julia. Meanwhile the men are shown to a larger room, by Joshua. In all the rooms there are basins of warm water and washcloths to clean up with, as well as soap. The linnens on all the beds appear fresh as well. Also, being told that rags would no longer do, you are each given a set of clothes that you assume once belonged to adults, because they fit. You then all head down to dinner, which consisted of the roasted pork, the vegtables that went with it, a fresh loaf of sweet bread, and fresh milk to wash it down with, and an apple pie for desert. All the kids are present, except Jeremiah, whom Joshua says always takes his meals in the barn. Everyone seems happy with the new company.

Lukas goes about caring for the horse as though it was his own. It was no destrier, suited for riding and little else, but it had been some time since he had cared for these noble creatures. He brushed its coat and picked its hooves, the hoofpick used artfully in his hands. The knight ignores the simpleton - he had little use for commoners, and he had better things to do than question the village idiot.

When the dinner bell rang, he nearly wept when he saw the washbasins and soap. He eagerly stripped off his clothes, smelly and soiled from the lengthy prison term, and washed for the first time in months. Each scrub wiped away dirt and restored humanity. The clothes were simple fair, but for the rags he had been forced to wear, they might as well have been princely garments.

He leaves his room a changed man. His hair is pulled back, and he actually has a smile upon his face. He bears his prison rags in a ball of cloth in his hands, finds the hearth, and throws them into the fire. He watches them burn for a time, meditating on his new freedom as those clothes are consumed. "Never again," he thought. "When next I return to Falkovnia, it will be to end the tyrant's life."

He sat down at the table, and tried to remember his table manners impressed upon him by his father and Lady Yestilov. However, the tantalizing allure of freshly cooked food won out, and he quickly tore into the spread Julia had created. His plate was massive - part of the bread was used to make a sandwich with all the fixings inside, and another slice was used to sop up all the juices and drippings. "By all that is good in this world, that was what I needed. Thank you very much, all of you." His smile and words were genuine - such kindness to strangers would have to be rewarded.

As they finished up the stacking of the wood Bergen had at least been able to mike idle conversation with Savina while working, speaking of the beauty of the sword coast, and exchanging tales of what it was like in their respective home cities. He had heard of Neverwinter but had never journeyed there, and it made the working time go by a bit more lively. The children rather morose he thought so some good conversation certainly helped.

Once inside he took up a cloth and went about cleaning himself up. He took the liberty of making sure all of the visible bits of him were scrubbed free of the grime of imprisonment, not wanting to look a mess at the dinner table.

"Thank you kindly for the meal my new friends. I hope that the rest of this kingdom is as friendly as you all have been."

With that he dug into his meal, careful not to eat too heavily too fast. He hadn't had a good meal in a while so he felt it best to savor it. A sure change from the detritus they fed him in prison.

After everyone finishes their food, the younger kids along with Julia begin to clear the table, then the younger ones go off to bed, while Julia works on the dishes in the kitchen. Not more than a minute later there is a light knock at the backdoor, and Joshua lets his friend William in. "You sure you can handle it?" Joshua says. He got a nod in response from William. "OK take a seat then" Joshua says before he goes to all the doors, and locks them, then closes all the shutters in the dining room, calls to Julia for some wine, which she brings dutifuly, along with seven glasses, before he finally sits himself. "It all began six years ago. Nobody ever got hurt by anything before, except maybe the occasional wolf, but that was rare enough. The parents were still here, and us children as well. The old toymaker had the most successful business in town, more so than the blacksmith, as everyone here had lots of children. He made the finest toys ever, until one day, he made a doll, dressed like a child itself. It was his finest work, it was also his worst. You see, he found a way to give the doll life. At first it was fine, it would just talk whenever you went into the shop, but everyone dismissed it as a parlor trick. Well one day, it started walking, and dancing, people claimed that they saw it on the outskirts of town, laughing and calling for children to go into the woods to play with him. None of the adults let it happen however, and soon all the parents began to burn all of the toys that he had made for their children. I remember crying when my toys were taken, I didnt understand. Finally the parents all gathered up and went to the toymakers house, and told him that he should leave, and take that horrible toy with him, that none of their children would ever play with that doll. So that was the end, until three days later, when a mother wound up stabbed to death by a tiny knife, while she was milking her cow. One by one, day after day, all of the parents were slowly killed off, sometimes covered with tiny wounds, sometimes mauled by the wolves, which had grown far more brazen, with the lack of parents left. When my own parents gathered what was left of the other parents in town,as well as all the older children, my brother included, and went with torches to go find the doll, and toymaker, and put an end to them. I along with my good friend Will here, snuck along behind them, and watched as everything happened. Half way to the toymaker, the howls of wolves came from the darkness, and soon, the whole pack was upon our parents, with the doll mounted on the largest one, wielding a lance. We.... took off, and made it home, though we were the only ones. None of the parents ever made it back. No children under the age of twelve were hurt, only older children and adults, except, every once in a while, a wolf will make off with a child. Such occurences still happen to this day. You are the only adults anyone has seen in six years, except the toymaker, who occasionally comes out to use the well, or such, and even then, we all keep our distance. So that is our tale, as it were." Will finally stood up, nodded to Josh, who nodded in return, and Will took his leave."
Joshua finishes his cup, and fills another, offering a refill to anyone else who needed one he then looks about as though looking for questions and input.

Clean! Clean at last! Quinn enjoyed the food that was put before her but it was nothing compared to being clean again. That dungeon had been the most filthy place she had ever seen in her life- she had been quite sure that the stench of the place would never leave her but was relieved to no longer smell a trace of it on her.
When the a cup was placed in front of her she put put her hand over the cup and polietly declined the wine- she found that spirits dulled the mind, slowed the body and more often than not turned respectable people into drunken fools.
As she listened to Joshua tell his story she could swear that she felt someone, or thing, watching her again but she convinced herself that it was her imagination. Maybe it was the strange story she was hearing... The toymaker, a doll that walks and talks, the wolves, the way the adults died....
Her mouth was set in a thin line and her hands were clenched in fists under the table, barely able to contain the bubble of rage that was building in her stomach. The loss of all those lives.... those children didn't just lose their parents, but their childhood as well. All of these children were forced to grow up entirely to fast.
After the kindness you have shown us, I could not forgive myself if I didn't help you. To loose a parent at such a young age.... THE TOYMAKER WILL PAY. Tell me how I can help.

"Before anything else I hope that you don't mind a sorcerer such as myself. I can be very useful to those who accept me."
I turn to Joshua.
"I'm going to get to work on your problem tomorrow. I would appreciate a rest first though."

Hearing the story told with such sorrow, he cleaned up his plate and took it to be washed, coming back to the table and sitting down. He had a pensive look on his face, and he soon spoke.

"Well, perhaps we could be of assistance. We are fairly able folk. Perhaps we can deal with this problem of yours. It does not seem right for you children to have lost so much, and to still live in fear."

Finishing her meal, Savina slugs down the last gulp of wine from her glass. She gives Joshua a even stare as she wipes her mouth with the back of her hand.

"Living toys and an evil toymaker, you say? I mean, I've heard some outlandish tales in my time, but still... It sounds more like the sight of the wolves attacking your parents on that dark night has made you think up this tale. I'm willing to take care of your wolf problem however, but I will ask for compensation for such a task."

Lukas listens to a familiar tale. The particulars change, but the general flow of the narrative never does. A town beset by an unimaginable terror, and the common people do what they must to continue to survive. In walk a few strangers, and the townsfolk beg them to solve their problem. If there was one lesson Lady Yestilov instilled in Sir Tenebral, it was this:

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

Lukas quaffed the last of his wine. "I don't know much about magic, other than its cavalier use rarely brings weal to those who use it, and never to those affected by it. If this toymaker has created a fiend such as these toys come to life, then he and his creations existences must be brought to an end. We may be capable in a fight, but we are woefully underarmed. Would you happen to have anything more potent than our sticks we might borrow for this endeavor?"

Quinn rolled her eyes at Savina's mention of payment.
"These people welcomed us into their home, allowed us to bath, clothed us and gave us beds to sleep in. You should think of this task as us paying THEM for their kindness! The world would be a much better place if more people were willing to help others without thinking of adding more coins to their pockets!"
She then turns to Joshua.
"I for one believe you. If you were to make up a tale to lure us into doing your dirty work it would certainly be a less outlandish tale. Your story does make me think however- why you have never captured this toymaker when he comes into town to get water?"

A curt smile curls across Savina's face, similar to the one that always crossed her mother's visage when scolding her for speaking out of turn, as the one who named herself Quinn disparages Savina's earlier offer.

Well... My dear Quinn. I for one think beyond the small plight of this village which seems to be doing well, even if you do believe the children's story that was just told. We.." Savina glances to all of her fellow travelers, "Are ill-prepared for any excursion outside of the village commons. You also assume I mean monetary payment. Clothing, weapons, rations and the such would treat me much better at this point in this parley than some paltry copper pieces. So if you would please sit and let the negotiations continue..."

Turning back to Joshua, the indignation wiped clean from her eyes, Savina asks again, "Sir Joshua, if you could afford to part with some of the items I just mentioned, it would greatly help our chances of gaining vengeance for your parents against these vicious wolves."

Joshua gives Savina a look that clearly says he does not like anything that left her mouth. "You would call me a liar under my own roof!" He says as he rises from his chair. "Then demand payment for services yet to be completed. My father warned me about sellswords such as yourself, before I saw him killed. I've done not but treat all of you fairly. You may share the barn with Jeremiah for the night rogue, in the morning perhaps you will be more apt to show apprecitation." He turns his attention to the rest of the group. "The rest of you have been plenty respectful and may keep your rooms, know that I lock the doors as well as the windows after full night has fallen, and no one may enter or exit until dawn. I also would like to take you all up on your offers to help us, I am quite worried about my child thats on her way, and how I feel like everyday could be the day that the doll finally desides I am too old. I bid good night to all of you. Savina, as I said I will be asking you take your leave now. The rest of you may follow, or make yourselves comfortable, you may help youself to more wine and bread, and stay in the dining room or living room as long as you would like, just let the fire die down before retiring." He starts going about shuttering and locking windows and doors.

She glances over her shoulder at her companions and lowers her voice.
I hope that I am not speaking out of turn Joshua, but I hope you forgive Savina for her loose tongue and allow her to stay under your roof tonight. A throaty chortle leaves Savina's throat, standing at Joshua's order. A sneer slides gracefully across her lips then is replaced by a sarcastic pout.

"So... I'm the only sensible one here then? You tell us a tale about magic toys and murder, but bring no CONCLUSIVE evidence but your word. Then... after agreeing to take care of the wolves plaguing your humble hamlet, I ask to be properly attired because as you can plainly see..." Savina stretches out her arms to her sides, showing the rags that hang about her lithe figure, "I am draped in nothing but burlap and sackcloth. And you have the audacity to scold me for being a sellsword?! I only wish to have a chance to kill the beasts, not rob you blind! If that had been my wish, I would be in your barn as we speak, taking your horses and saddles!!" Having raised her voice, Savina clears her throat and starts again, softer. "Instead, I'm standing before you, ready to take on your problems because you can't. You cower in fear, waiting for the day you die to your crazy living doll! I also have a father that I haven't seen for sometime. It seems that they both attempted to teach us how to deal with our problems the same way. However, it looks as if I'm the one who understood the lesson."

Solemnly, Savina picks up her knotted club from beside her seat, and trudges stoic outside to the barn. Once through the door, she slams it with as much force as her tiny frame will allow.

I dont wish her harm, its just.... being called a liar about something so sensetive bothered me greatly. Now if you excuse me,I must see to the locks before I go to sleep." Lukas listens to both sides of the argument, frowning as tensions rise. Like all impasses, both sides had a very valid issue - Joshua had taken them in with relatively few questions asked, and Savina was slightly paranoid in her reaction. Still, she was only paranoid if she was wrong. What if Joshua was manipulating the first group of strangers he encountered into doing his dirty work?

In the awkward silence that filled the room after Savina slams the door, Lukas slowly rises to his feet. "This is your home, Joshua, so you have every right to throw someone out that does not appreciate your hospitality. However," he says, his voice darkening. "Given the circumstances around the disappearances, I cannot in good conscience let Savina stay out in the barn by herself. Let me bring her blanket to her, and I will stand vigil in the barn."

Lukas returns upstairs, gathering his things first, then Savina's. He takes them out to her, hearing the deadbolt slide shut behind him. "Here," he offers as he offers her the few items she had left in her room. "Best get some rest. It feels as though it will be a long and cold night."

@ Jaan and Quinn- As you each go to sleep in your own beds, eager to get your first good nights sleep in a bed in far too long. You drift off into a troubled sleep, in which you dream of wolves coming into the bedroom, and tearing out your throats, each time you snap awake however, you awake to find the fire still in the hearth, the windows locked shut, and your throat is fine. In the morning, you awake to the smells of food being cooked, and someone has lain out fresh clothes and washbins for you.

@ Savina, Bergen, and Lukas- As you all head out to the barn in the failing light, you get a very queer sensation of being watched, from every direction. Looking around gives you no answers to it however.

Once into the barn, Jeremiah asks no questions, and begins going about locking up the barn, he then points to a small pail of suprisingly fresh looking water, and wraps himself up in a small tattered blanket. Any time someone talks to him he just shugs and grunts.

Most of the night passes quietly, owls hoot in the distance, as well as the occasional wolf, a few hours in though, right as most of you were falling asleep. You snap awake as you hear some giggleing coming from outside the door, and a scuffle as well, as thoughsomeone was scratching on the wall. Then you hear in the faintest of voices, "None of you will make it out of this place." then maniacal laughter, followed by the patter of footsteps, and then silence. If any of you goes to open the door to invesigate, Jeremiah tries his hardest to stop you, shaking his head and grunting "no" loudly.

As they walked to the barn, Bergen couldn't help but keep looking about. Once inside the barn however, he simply shivered a bit, getting the eerie feeling out of his spine.

"That was a very queer sensation."

With that he began to ready himself for bed. Laying in a nice warm pile of straw with a blanket about him was rather comfortable, until he heard the giggling and spookily spoken words. He sat up then, looking about in whatever dim light might remain, waiting and watching to see if Savina or Lukas decided to investigate further.

Ready an Action!
If Lukas or Savina open the barn door Bergen will cast Light of Lunia.

Duration is 10 Minutes.
Once cast light extends from Bergens body for 30 feet, and an additional 30 feet of shadowy illumination beyond that.

Can be discharged as an attack on the subsequent round after casting.

When Quinn wakes up she immediately goes to the wash bucket to bath and wash her hair. When she is done she braids her hair, goes through her stretches, and finally settles down to meditate. Her mind needed clearing. Yesterday had been a very eventful day and she had slept poorly last night. She couldn't stop thinking about the wolf dreams. It was rare that she had a dream so intense- unless it was about the day her father was murdered. She closed her eyes and went through her breathing exercises while slowly relaxing every muscle in her body. Normally this cleared her mind in a matter of minutes but a state of complete relaxation wouldn't seem to come to her.
"Perhaps I will feel better after I have checked on my companions".
She rises, dresses and heads straight for the barn. She is relieved to see that the place still looks locked up tight. She raps on the barn door.
"Lukas, Bergen, Savina? It's me, Quinn. Is everyone alright?"

The walk to the shadowy barn was very cold and bitter. She had worked just as hard as any of the others and when she brings up the slightest hint of criticism towards Joshua's story, she was promptly thrown out like yesterday's linen. As the memory floated through her mind, it only made Savina's rage roil again. She had just been looking out for the safety of her ragtag bunch of convicts, and was promptly ostracized for asking for clothing and weapons. Do none of these people understand, we're going to die if we don't make some steps to protect ourselves. And now, we're in the 'care' of these pups that are rambling on about living dolls and such!

Once in the barn with Jeremiah, Savina gave him a steely glare and a warning. "This is my side of the barn for tonight. I don't care why you need to come over here, but if I catch you over here, it will not be pleasant for you." Bergan and Lukas passed through the barn door as Savina finished her decree, "That goes for you two as well!" With that, she curled up and fell asleep.

Dreams of Neverwinter and heists from the past. were shattered by the faint knock and scratching coming from the wall closest to her. Still in a groggy half sleep, Savina swore she heard a child's voice whisper a vile threat then cackle into the night. Still being in the grasps of half-conscious, she dismissed it as a nightmare and rolled back over to sleep again.

@ Jaan and Quinn- when you go downstairs in search of your host, he is nowhere to be found. Julia tells you that Joshua is out by the barn. If you go to find him, you see him and Matt, as well as all his brothers and the rest of your party, standing around the door, which has a message written in a scratchy hand. "All those who would not play with toys, shall be destroyed!" Joshua appears visably shaken by the message, so do the rest of the children gathered around.

@Savina, Lukas, and Bergen- When you wake in the morning, you find that the door to the barn is open, and Jeremiah is outside with his brothers and The rest of your party is walking over from the house. You see the same cryptic message in the outside walls. "All those who would not play with toys, shall be destroyed!" Joshua appears visably shaken by the message, so do the rest of the children gathered around.

Pouring through the slats of the barn's roof, speckles of light danced about Savina's face. Her eyes fluttering open, she slowly sits up out of her restless sleep. Throwing on her prison rags quickly, she strides towards the voices that drift in on the morning wind beyond the door. Shielding her eyes from the harsh morning rays, Jaan's stinging retort catches her off-guard.

"What are you speaking of, 'Do I believe?!'" Turning to follow the gaze of everyone else, she finds herself set in front of the scrawled message upon the barn. "Are you kidding me!? You mean to say that some random words scrawled upon the side of the barn are going to change my mind, as to whether or not this whole Living Toy story is true?! Bring me hard evidence, bring me some corroborating witnesses, anything that can line up with Joshua's story and maybe I'll start to believe you. Where I come from though, when someone takes you in and tells you a story about witchcraft and wizardry... you take it with a grain a salt, and never show your back to the person."

Finishing her rant, Savina walks off looking back and forth. Once she finds what she's looking for, a water well, she heads towards it to wash her face and neck.
