Well I didn't have any luck with Google, so here I am.

I am currently in a campaign playing my first wizard, and am looking into item creation feats. I just got Craft Wondrous Item and already have a list of requests from my party members.

What I would like is if anybody knows of a good guide or handbook for item creation. I don't just mean how to do it. I get the basics. I'd like to know what are the best items to make, what are the most useful spells to learn for the purposes of crafting items, which item creation feats are worth it, etc.

Thanks!

There are SEVERAL equipment handbooks, and several classes that are good at item creation.

The main thing with item creation is you want maximum spell access to make your items. Artificers, the strongest item creation class, have this naturally. Archivists can have access to lots of spells from all over the place, but require DM intervention or a lot of negotiation to do so. Cloistered Clerics can be decent crafters. The Heretic of the Faith feat means they can have Creation, Artifice, and Craft Domains. Or they could go Divine Magician, whatever. Wizards, of course, are the default item crafters; Generalist Wizards especially, or maybe Conjurers. Shapers make solid psionic crafters. Warlocks can be great crafters, with a bit of jiggling and work and getting some levels under their belt, especially if they get access to the Chameleon class.

Anyway, there are several handbooks on items and item creation and relevant classes and such:

3.5 or PF? The two have some pretty big differences in crafting.

I'm not sure what all this is about since I already said I'm playing a wizard. But, thanks for the links.

Do you have a way to mitigate the XP costs of item creation? That's the big reason I never got into crafting in 3.5

Suddenly, a handbook for cost reduction (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20030906b)appears.

Ways to mitigate costs of crafting!

And remember people can work together to craft items! So if it's a divine spell, just pay someone to cast the spell into the item, per here:

A wizard always makes a good crafter, with its creation feats and Int being it's predominant ability. But have you spent the time to look at an Artificer (http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Artificer_Player's_Guide_(3.5e_Optimized_Character _Build)) from the Eberron campaign setting? A supreme crafter if you are in an Eberron campaign or have a lenient DM.

Its experience reserve grows with you, making some items free.
The Infusions are almost priceless when used with action points.
Crafting feats every level.
Homonculi to protect you (Very well).

all thrown in as a package for an amazing tier 1 class.

Play a wizard and by 5 you will have craft wondorous, craft scroll and 1 more IIRC

An artificer at 5th has a constant level + int check to see magic items (Basically a near constant Identify), a reserve of 300xp for all creations, +2 to all crafts and UMD, disable traps and can craft without the spells needed. THEN you get scribe scroll at 1st, brew potion at 2nd, craft wondorous at 3rd and craft magical arms and armour at 5th, Not forgetting your homunculi at 4th.

Oh and see that magic item that has no use to you. You can absorb it and create a useful item with it...

One of the cheesiest things you can do is refuse to level up at about 6th, spend all that xp on items and be a swaggering gold clad pimp until you catch up.
