When you get the +4 (or +8) AC from cover or arrowslits in walls for example, does the AC bonus you get count towards not being hit by spells aswell? or does it get removed for ranged touch attacks, even though, you know, say a wall was in the way?

You get cover bonus against any spells which requires an attack roll. You're out of luck if the spells requires a save.

Spells with attack rolls still have to contend with cover. It also gives you a bonus to reflex saves, if applicable:
"Cover and Reflex Saves

Cover grants you a +2 bonus on Reflex saves against attacks that originate or burst out from a point on the other side of the cover from you. Note that spread effects can extend around corners and thus negate this cover bonus."

Ranged touch attacks go against your touch armor class. Touch AC doesn't take into account armor, shield, or natural armor bonuses. Cover bonus would apply.

Cover helps against enemies using ranged touch attacks against you.

If you have total cover, then line of sight is also denied from a spellcaster, which can help deny the spellcaster the ability to target you with other spells too.

However, it is good to remember that spellcasters are often highly mobile and can usually find a way to get a better view of you without a great deal of effort.

Or they could just use spells that don't require Line of Sight or Line of Effect, such as spread effects from around corners.

Im not to worried about the mobility issue. Im planning on having the party being ambushed in a trapped tunnel network and hallways with arrow slits and such, or barricades in the hallways. Im happy it helps against spell casters, since the party has a druid, sorcerer and dread necromancer. Oh and a barbarian, but there are walls in the way ;)

Edit: Yes, i assumed the spread spells wouldnt like cloudkill etc, would by pass cover.
