View Full Version : Looking for a gish homebrew PrC

I'm looking for a PrC that provides full BAB and offers arcane spellcasting advancement at first level at least. These are the two requirements that must be meet, but everything else is pretty optional. Details:

The base is currently Paladin 2/Sorcerer 3 or 4, depending on what fruit this thread bears.
I'm already taking 5 levels of Abjurant Champion.
I'm aware of Spellsword, and I'll take it if nothing better presents itself, but I'd like something better.
Homebrew is acceptable. It will be reviewed for balance, so please don't suggest anything unless you think its a truly viable option.
A large hit die would be nice

A level of Sacred Exorcist in also in the build, but aside from that I'm looking for a more exciting and interesting option than Spellsword or Eldritch Knight to fill the rest of the levels with. I'd be going with Swiftblade in a heartbeat if I didn't lose out on casting at first level, but that should give you an idea of what I'm looking for hopefully.

EDIT: Technically I could live with any BAB advancement as long as it fully advanced arcane casting, but as this is a gish it'd be preferable to have a higher BAB (and the higher hit die that often accompanies it), as I'd likely continue in this PrC after finishing Abjurant Champion.

EK is pretty solid, though there are better and it misses that first level casting advancement. I'd move Spellsword to one level before going into AC, just because it's full BAB, easier to meet prerequisites for, and advances full casting.

Well, the standard Sorcadin gish is Paladin2/Sorcerer4/Spellsword1/Abjurant Champion5/Sacred Exorcist8.

The Swiftblade is best if you can get in without losing any caster levels, as it loses three levels if you want the 9th-level ability and 4 if you want the mini-Time Stop ability.

Did you read my opening post? I mention both Spellsword and Eldritch Knight, and why I'd like to find other options if possible.

*nod* I know, and that's what I'm looking at. But to be frank the Sacred Exorcist's abilities outside of Turn Undead just don't interest me. If I don't find anything better, official or homebrew, I'll continue up that path, but I'd rather just find something more interesting.

It's really your best option right here, as there aren't really any good gish PrCs that have both full casting and full BAB and no loss of caster level.

Nifty, thanks.

Yeah, that's what it looks like. Which is why I said that homebrew is potentially acceptable, as I think that may be my only place to find options...I think I'll update the title to reflect that.

Yeah, other than a 1 level dip into either Elf-only Bladesinger (which costs too many feats) or Dragonslayer, which also costs too many feats, there's not a whole lot of good gish options outside of homebrew. Especially since Abjurant Champions' bread and butter are Luminous Armor and Greater Luminous Armor, which demon thralls can't use, what with being evil.

Unfortunately I can't think of any homebrew PrCs for gishing, good or bad.

What were you planning on taking to get from Sorcerer 4/Paladin 2 and BAB +4 in order to get BAB+5 in order to get into Abjurant Champion?

If you willing to try a pally/sorc hybrid as a base class perhaps the Trissociate in my sig might interest you :smalltongue:[/shameless plug]

Looking through an extended homebrewer's signature thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60676), found this base class (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=212289), but no PrCs yet.

Digging around my own bookmarks and the PrC contests, I managed to find a couple (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=12196012&postcount=10) different (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5830311&postcount=4) classes (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8485772&postcount=11) that met the +1 BAB/Spellcasting at level 1 requirement. Not sure how much they help though!
