So my bestest buds in the world are coming to visit for the first time since I moved and we thought we'd celebrate the occasion with a big ol' game of pathfinder, in the style (and probably a slightly altered setting of) Brutal Legend.

So I was wondering if anybody had any ideas or useful advice about how to run such a game?

Thanks in advance

Comb through metal songs and lyrics (www.metal-archives.com is your friend), which contain trazillions of idea and expressions usable in a fantasy game. Throw them in there, quote, quote quote. When done, see if you can squeeze more references in. But don't just use the expressions, use themes, story ideas. Have a sequence where you have people hiding in the cellar, fear caught in their eyes, telling each other to beware the beast in black, and so on.

Watch Metalocalypse for ideas; it basically ties together all the heavy metal tropes. At least some episodes are on YouTube. It's the exact kind of ridiculously-over-the-top madness that you need for a campaign like this.

This is your chance to prove that bards are awesome. Model your BBEG after a mascot, whether it be Eddie (http://www.metal-metropolis.com/Iron_Maiden/Eddie/iron_maiden_eddie_bass.jpg), or That Guy from Manowar (http://truemetal.org/metalwallpaper/images/kingsofmetal.jpg) or whoever. Have them command an army of undead or similar, and have them rock out an awesome Inspire Courage as the PCs struggle through the undead horde.

Pick a really brutal iconic metal voice and practice it. Through long practice I can do Nathan Explosion, Lemmy and Dave Mustaine (though I'm not a fan of his singing) and I break them out for particularly awesome bad guys. Nathan Explosion's is really excellent and by far my favourite.
