Was wondering if anyone had tried to run an X-Com: UFO Defense typed game in a rpg format. What system did you use? How did it work out? Did you have to homebrew a lot of weapons and technologies to make it work or simply relabel what the system already had?

GURPS Black Ops seems to be perfect for X-Com.

GURPS Black Ops seems to be perfect for X-Com.Doing exactly that right now, but converted most of the material to 4th Edition (there isn't much to do, most of the equipment can be found in the new Ultra-Tech anyways). I let the players have a soldier for the missions and a scientist-type for downtime (with slightly cinematic rules for research, and the small version of "Gadgeteer" almost mandatory). They have to start with modern technology and develop the sci-fi stuff themselves (GURPS has rules for this), pretty much like the games.
