Improved Trip

Hello, I have a question. This is for 3.5 rules.

When you have Kharmic Strike. someone attacks you, and your Attack of Oppertunity activates. Can you use Improved Trip?

Follow-up question, If I can indeed use trip. When he is tripped, does that nagate the Damage he does?

Assuming the Trip works, can I use the Free Attack from the Improved trip? I do have Combat Reflexes.

You can try to Trip with any attack, even an AoO, but since Karmic Strike only triggers after you've been hit, it does nothing to the attack. Why would it negate the damage? Not even normal Trip does that.

And yes, you would get the free attack if you managed to succeed.

So for it to work like I thought, I would have to go with Robilar's Gambit? or whatever that feat is.

No, because Robilar's Gambit takes place after the foe's attack as well. There is no way that counter-attacking will deflect the enemy's initial blow, save perhaps in ToB somewhere.
