Playing Underdark Jazz since I joined, her's my random Banter!
Rules and such:
1. Spam. For the purposes of RB, one word posts are generally considered spam. Likewise, posts that are nothing but *actions like this* are also be considered spam. Remember that the quality of the post's content is much better than the speed of your response.

2. This isn't the Play by Post or Town forum, nor is it the Silly Message Board Games or Structured Games forum. Please avoid continuous roleplay or mock battles and fights such as the "competition for control of the universe".

3. If it's already a thread, don't bring it to RB. RB has such a huge range of subject matter even restricted to the little snippets that probably don't warrant their own thread, it doesn't need legitimate thread topics cluttering it up as well. The exception to this is to bring something that is off-topic from one thread, but on-topic for RB and the subject doesn't warrant a thread of its own.

4. Don't advertise other threads in RB. Just because these new threads move at speeds more appropriate to a message board than an IM session doesn't mean you need to come over to RB and brow beat people into posting in your latest brainchild.

5. Please don't post single line posts alerting us to your current status -- as in "I'm back." This is Random Banter, not "How to stalk Random GitP forum members."

6. Don't poke, kick or bump the thread. It will move at whatever pace it wants to. Also, please refrain from Captain Obvious comments akin to "My, the thread is fast today."

7. Random Banter can only be as good, or as entertaining, as you make it. Demands to be entertained will fall on deaf ears unless you can add something more meaningful to the conversation.

8. As this is a public forum, where the current topic is nicely recorded for you, and not a conversation where you could have missed the beginning, please refrain from asking something to the effect of "What's the topic?". Please take the time to read up a bit first.

9. Thread Creator must include the words "Random" and "Banter" as well as the thread #. Try to be concise as well.

10. Every post should contain two visible, legible complete sentences, Subject and Predicate. C'mon, make your old English teachers proud.

11. Remember, Random Banter is not your IM client. If you want to have a back and forth discussion with just one person, look in their contact information for IM details.

12. Whenever a new thread is created, all "first post", "first page", and all posts of that nature will be deleted by the administrators. Please avoid doing this, as it is frustrating for them to deal with one-lined posts like this.

13. Double-posting is not your friend. We have edit buttons for a reason.

14. Once you have made a Random Banter thread, you must wait 50 threads before making another one.

15. If you can avoid dibs calling on making the next thread, that will avoid people needing to wait if the thread hits 50 pages while the dibs-caller is asleep.

Bloodied is a 4E catch all term for "half hp".

People have said six hours or more sleep is healthy, but in more recent times similar people have recommended eight or more hours, ten or more if you're still growing up. Although much more is oversleep, surely? Oversleeping can lead to feeling tired, as does malnutrition... Or you could just be sick as above posters have said. I'm just paranoid and look at everything when I feel tired personally.

Oh, and after five days of sleeping three or so hours a day average sleeping all weekend doesn't typically fix it unless you're an insomniac like I was. In which case, sleep just never comes. :smallfurious:

--EDIT-- 4E has 'catch terms'? That could be helpful to new DMs trying to come up with things more RP-y to use.

I wake up tired over the week regularly. Combination of lack of sufficient exercise, day-to-day worries and stress, and overworked mind.

My cure is to go for a run or something and just lie down on the bed or couch or whatever. Don't sleep, and don't read or watch TV or anything, just lie down for 15 minutes or so.

Works for me.

I'm not sure how other DMs feel, but I don't like using "You rolled a 17 which means you successfully hit the goblin. You rolled a 3, so you hit it for 3 damage with your longsword." more like "The goblin staggers slightly under the sure blow of your longsword." or something. I'm normally more creative during the day. Hahaha

A 'bloodied lich' or something sounds a lot better than 'a half health lich'. I haven't read the entirety of the DM book, but I haven't really seen a whole lot of guidelines on such phrases to use.

--EDIT-- It might be a Britishism. I use the term 'shattered' too to mean awfully tired or hungover, but mostly tired. I believe it's more common to mean hungover here in AUS, but don't quote me on it.

Ahhh, understandable.

Also, then you'd love my DMing style. I very rarely make mention of the numbers, and sometimes do things usually not explicitly alloud (hinting at when the creature is nearly bloodied and such).

Shattered could work as a term for hunger or sleepiness if you assume it shatters your mind, I guess. My explanation anyway.

I've figured out that 7 and a half hour of sleep is optimal to me. I usually strive for 8 hours, because it's impossible for me to actually get in bed early enough to manage that long (hehehe), but if I sleep that long, I'll usually just end up tired in the following day. I can usually manage 6 hours or even less without too much loss of mental abilities, but it's generally not a good idea to rely on it.

The last week, however, I've been sleeping very much (compared to my regular sleep), making it 8 to 9 hours on days where I don't set my alarm. I blamed a need to wind down from all the hectic work last week, but I figure it's actually just a fling of spring fatigue. Silly phenomenon (and I can't decide whether I should be surprised that my translator actually accepts "vårtrötthet" ("spring fatigue") as a word, or not).

Which basically means that she wouldn't have to go through the screening round that they have, and would automatically be in the semi-finals to get onto the show.

It startled us both a little bit, because she doesn't consider her pieces to be fashion, but rather art. Though it sounds like she is going to apply just to see how it goes. There does seem to be a history of the judges getting rid of the more experimental artists though, so she's rather skeptical that she would get very far.

That's what you get when language is dynamic. If enough people say something wrong then it becomes the right way to say it and becomes part of the official language.

I see the same thing happening in Dutch. There's this one thing which always makes me cringe just a little every time I hear someone say it, but it's becoming so common these days I wonder when the change becomes official.

What Cobra said, although they're both notorious when it comes to reshuffling their interface at the same very moment as you've learned to navigate the old one seamlessly.

However, there are times when that rule doesn't apply (or when at least "broken" is rather loosly defined). When it comes to computer science, it's usually worthwhile to assume that everything is at least slightly broken, as computer science is still a relatively young field of study, so there aren't especially many established facts yet and a lot of things can still be done better.

When it comes to programming itself, however, this exception to the rule still applies to some extent, but due to a rather silly tendency among programmers to want to build their libraries from scratch, it shouldn't be too strongly emphasised. :smallwink:

Canada's a big place. Vancouver it get's to 40C. Here, it gets to 35C. 2 summers ago, it reached 45, which is like 115F or something. Up where Lala is, I doubt it reaches much beyond 20, on account of she lives near the North Pole, or something like that.

Gwyn is fairly accurate, though seeing as how we get the sun pointed directly at us for around 23 hours a day, it CAN get pretty hot here.

Eh? No humidity? Humidity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humidity) greater than the atmosphere can hold (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dew_point) at that temperature results in precipitation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precipitation_%28meteorology%29), last I checked. :smallconfused:

Seattlites recognize humidity as how susceptible you are to sweating, and "feeling" a cloud of heat on your skin. We rarely use it in it's proper term. Or at least, my local area, just outside of Seattle.

Seattlites have the final say on all language matters now, do they? :smallamused:

It's rather hard to be kept warm by humidity when one is in a cold environment, as the only way humidity makes one feel warm is by slowing/preventing sweat from evaporating on our skin and thereby cooling us. If it's raining though, it's humid, and if it is cold and humid, then one has the delicious feeling of never being able to feel properly warm or dry for that matter.

Hardly a good exchange going from one to the other though.

You can put more clothes on to an extent, yes. On the other hand, I'd gladly take a temperature of 90-100F (~32-~38C) degrees than -20F (~-29C).

See, where I live, in summer, it regularly breaks 100F, and has been hot enough out that I have set a metal tool down, walked inside for 2 minutes to get a glass of water, gone back out, and burned my hand picking up said tool. That seems excessively hot to me. >.>

On the other hand, I've danced naked in snow before. And been comfortable in snow in a t-shirt and thin pajama pants. So... >.>

Well, that date makes the most sense for filing, because then it'll file automatically in the correct chronological order. That's why 2012/03/14 is used. 03/14/12, the only reason to use it is because in America they say "March Fourteenth, 2012". That's really the only reason.

Nah, semantics are fine. Especially when you realise that about half of the quarrels you encounter around you all boil down to a simple misunderstanding over what definition of a word is to be used in the given context. My job occasionally has me working with people that could medically be defined as "retarded", such as Down's Syndrome folks and they are some of the sweetest and most loveable folks I have ever met and certainly a lot nicer than some of my other patients.

*hugs until she calms down*

If you look at it like that, your brain's going to implode and no wonder you're frazzled. Take it one step at a time:

1) You have coursework due today. You do not understand it.

A: You've understood previous courseworks, so unless you're leaping from mitochondrial biochemistry to ancient Egyptian algebra, you do have a rough idea of what it is about.

B: Speak to your classmates - find one you trust and get him to prod you in the right direction. This will be easier than going to the professor.

C: Ask for a slight extension from the prof if you can.

2) You have your 3rd year Project to do.

A: You need to learn CPLEX for it. Books and Google searches will soon fix this - it's amazing how many great tutorials there are on the interwebs. I once managed to learn basic PHP in an afternoon from one of them.

B: The example file makes no sense. Complete (A) so you have a rough idea of what you are looking for. Type out the code and mess around with it. From how it compiles/doesn't compile/run you may get some insights into it.

3) ohgodImgoingtofailandtheworldsgoingtoexplode

A: Don't force me to hug you again, because I totally will. This is your brain squeaking a bit because you've given it a bit too much information to deal with in one go. One step at a time, my dear and your world will look less likely of imploding.

Does any of this help/make you feel better?

I just figured out the hard way that it is a bad idea to read nonsense phrases like the ones I added to my sig before doing my reading for history. Just a warning to everyone out there, don't try reading my stuff before you have serious reading to do.:smalltongue:

Today I learned that the power density in modern processors is on the same level as that of a nuclear reactor. No wonder we've hit the roof of what we can cool with conventional means.

IRN:
The final period of this school year has begun with full time DARK Dig (Computer Architecture and Digital Technology, but I find the acronym funny because it always makes me think of Minecraft).

I had the last exam for now yesterday, and it was suitably challenging for most of the part. One of my two lecturers was incredibly lazy when it came to designing the problems to the exam, and most (if not all) of his questions were taken directly from the previous year's exam and only had a few of their initial premises altered. The final problem on the final part was even worse than that, as it was identical to one of the old problems, except for a line where he clarified one thing that you would need to take into concideration in order to reach a correct answer.

I had spent the whole morning going through just that exam from a year ago and torn my hair at just that problem for quite a while before realising what I had forgotten to concider. I already had all thinking done, which I actually found quite disappointing. Exams aren't supposed to be solved that way!

ION:
I've been having a lot of strange dreams as of lately. This night's dream beats most of them, however. It's a bit of a story and I've already been stretching the length of this post quite a bit with my ramblings, so I think I'll put it in spoiler tags:

It started out with a story about a kidnapping incident which evolved from a disagreement caused by a party of poker. A policeman got involved in the incident while trying to sort out the situation, and he was kidnapped as well and executed by his kidnappers the following day. (This sound pretty much like a story that could have been told of in "Veckans Brott" ("The Crime of the Week"), a TV program where they, among other things, retell and comment on an old crime in great detail that's airing here in Sweden at the moment)

Anyway, enough about that and the dream switches over to me and a few unidentified friends hanging out at the university and having a good time. That's when it struck me that that policeman from the story was me (dream logic), and that the execution would take place tomorrow (yes, apparently, that story was about the future. Dream logic). The poker game would start any minute and deteriorate into the quarrel that would lead to the kidnapping. I would try to solve the situation with diplomacy and get kidnapped myself, and then shot in the following day. A sudden feeling of my blood being momentarilly exchanged for acid coursed through my body, but my only thought on this was simply "Typical".

So I say "I'm going to die", but at the same time, I realise that I can't explain how it happens, because then my friends (soon to be kidnappers, victim and witnesses) would try to prevent it from happening and thus causing a time paradox (probably dooming us all MSPA style). It had to happen and I had to make sure everyone kept playing along. The dream ended before anything more happened, however, so I don't know how I'd reason myself out of that situation.

I'm still amazed by how fast my dream self (because I'm not sure I could ascribe myself his actions, given that I haven't been tested yet) accepted the inevitability of his fate. That he actually would go out of his way to make sure it happened as it was supposed to happen. Strange dreams...

I had a similar dream once. Except I was a prison gaurd. By dream logic, I knew that if I stayed there, the prisoners would shoot me to get out, and there was nothing that I could do. If I left, someone else would have to watch them, and die in my place. I was to die at exactly 3:00 (again, dream logic), and the second I was supposed to die I woke up.

From the second, wow that's a crazy dream. Have any other dreams to share, I like reading them.

Hmm, lets see, what have I dreamt in the last two weeks?

Two dreams where I sleep while I should be doing something important (these were during the night before the project deadline and the first exam respectively). I woke up pretty quickly from both of those, however.

One dream where I couldn't find the way out of a huge house. It had its enterances on two levels that were probably three floors apart due to being positioned next to a cliff, and I was trying to take a shortcut up said cliff by going through the house. I had already visited the house once in a dream long ago (for the same reasons, being equally lost). There were quite a lot of people moving around in the house, and I felt so out of place. I could start rambling about the interior, but that's hardly something interesting to hear about.

One dream that I'm not quite sure if I feel comfortable enough to retell due to it being of a bit too private nature. I concidered not mentioning it at all, because it'll probably just make people's imagination start running, and wherever they'll end up is pretty likely to be... further away than my dream ever went. But on the other hand, I don't feel like refusing to recognise it either. It did at least prove that my fascination/love for wings is deeply rooted in my subconscious by now...

Also, yay last exam (for now). That means you'll have free time, right :smalltongue::smallwink:

Hopefully if I could pull myself out of this state of moderate procrastination. I've saved up quite a buffer of stuff that needs to be done more or less ASAP, so I'm going start flushing it soon (hopefully tomorrow, when I should have enough time to handle some administrative stuff at least).

My dreams are normally to do with... Let's call them worries. Like, dreams of dead birds everywhere, the soles of my feet coated entirely in sand and cobwebs. In reality, it doesn't bother me if I have tiny ants covering them, biting them, etc. which makes it even weirder. I've even been known to have dreams of everyone drinking white coloured tea. Yes, most people I know put that much milk in it; and it actually bothers me.

On the other hand, normally when I dream and there aren't... Let's call them worries invading them, I'm normally flying too. It's human nature to be fascinated by well... Everything. Flight and wings are unsurprisingly especially fascinating.

I went through school starting projects I felt needed a ton of time on as soon as I got them. Then I got more of them, which I'd only do last minute and most of them would end up late because I was bothered by them too much to actually do anything about it for quite a while. I did most if not all speech thingy assignments impromptu because I felt I would do it best that way. One of my goals was to get into radio or something, but apparently that sort of thing's a bit hard to do...

I suppose most of what school actually teaches people is how to procrastinate.

I tend to die in my dreams. Or they involve very surreal things. Or both.

...the only one I can remember from recently was several months ago and involved my class swimming down a shark-infested river with people being attacked while a bunch of armed people on boats watched and did nothing. Actually, I was the only person who even noticed anyone was dying. And then we got to an island and I had to cut open a dead body for my anatomy professor, except I was half-naked because for some reason, the bodes got delivered to some kind of combination bathroom/boiler room. Anatomy labs do weird things to you.

One in which I flying through the grand canyon on a jetpack being chased by a giant T-Rex .
One in which I became a martyr and used the power of ROCK! to save the world from Naruto villains.
One in which I was at my Elementary training to be a superhero.
One in which the prior dream was revisited as a young teen and when it was time to show everyone what we had learned to do with our powers in the gap, I had lost all of my powers.
And finally one that is completely and utterly not board appropriate in anyway.

Maybe a few more if I thought hard about it.

Quick question for you all.

You know how a person who steals the throne is called a usurper?

What is the term for the king that got ousted from his throne? Assuming he is still alive and just had to flee the castle and go into hiding. So I've gotten, the king-in-exile, and for laughs, "the ousted". Is there even a proper term for this?

There is no precise proper term (since it isn't as common [or meant to happen] as to warrant its own word like defenestration). King-in-exile is sort of contradictory since he no longer would be the king. King in rags is a more poetic expression though again misleading.

Making up a word due to the circumstances of such deposition is also a possibility.

XXX isn't actually an official rating. It got to where it is now because basically certain film producers (porn makers) figured that people would think "Hey, this film is rated X and it's got some sex stuff in it. This film is rated XXX... So it probably has more sex stuff in it!"
Since none of the ratings involving X got trademarked, submission to the MPAA isn't necessary to get them. The MPAA's equivalent is NC-17 (which covers a broader spectrum).

In Australia and France (and formerly the U.K.), though, X-rated has official meaning.

My dreams tend to be things that seem like real life even afterwards, and often when I wake up I'm not entirely sure which bits are true and which were dreams until I've woken up a lot (around lunchtime) and cross-examined them with what I know to be true to check for discontinuity.

It gets very odd sometimes.

Well, that dream definitely did have "sex stuff" in it ... As I said, very much so not NSFITP. I wouldn't have mentioned it, and I didn't (initially), but it is one of the few dreams I can distinctly recall. Make of that what you will.

EDIT:

Actually, I can think of 2 more.

One which I had after I started my new exercise pattern in which I was flexing and my muscles just sort of popped out of my arms and writhed on the floor.
The other one involved my legs being cut off.

I woke up shouting and in a cold sweat after both of those. Sort of u[set I remembered them now. :smallannoyed:

At one point during Garza's set all the vocal mics went out, so the band started playing a Bob Marley song (I forget which) and the entire audience screamed the lyrics for him at the top of their lungs. Okay, thanks, but the reason I asked is because I need to find a term to call his son, technically the true heir to the throne. He was not alive at the time his father was king, but was born after. Since the throne was not taken legitimately, he is still technically next in line to be king.

What would you call him? I think because it's too indirectly related to the usurper, there can't really be a term for the son (prince) of the usurped king. :smallconfused:

Until he's crowned, just refer to him as Prince <insertnamehere> due to his royal blood.
A technical term for this kind of thing doesn't really exist... You might consider referring to him as a Pretender, but I'm not sure if that's applicable in this situation.

He'd probably be known as a pretender to the usurper's followers and as the true heir to the throne to the desposed king's followers. That's sort of what happened to Charles II, and if you care to do the digging, you should be able to find Pepys and his contemporaries calling him and his father and Cromwell all kinds of things that you could use.

I suspect there isn't a proper term, because 99% of the time the proper way to describe someone like that would be "dead" and they probably didn't feel it was necessary to coin a special term for the corner cases. :smallwink:

I don't think I've ever dreamed a dream in which I can fly, which is somewhat ironic (and quite typical), given that I really love the whole concept of flying, and intend to get myself a flight certificate sometime in the future.

I've dreamed I can fly a handful of times. One thing that seems to be common to all of them, though: I'm always REALLY bad at flying. I always find it incredibly hard to take off.

Whenever I have flight dreams, I don't so much have to take off. It's more like swimming, I suppose. I don't have flight dreams very often though, which is unfortunate as they're rather enjoyable.

That makes sense, since swiming is the closest thing we even HAVE to flying.

Myself, I've never had flying dreams. Sounds exciting, wish I did have them. Though, I'm afraid of heights to a degree

Are you saying you didn't undertake a ritual of sacrificing gaming consoles to the Elder Gods for increased skills in digital battles? Or slice open the disk drive of an old computer for it to whisper its secrets of how the AI beats you every time? Or any of that?

Oh. Oh, well, then, I may have taken some unnecessary steps, then.

But hey! Headshot!

ION: So a hypothetical: If I were to have solar panels on my black roof, and black roofs hold something like 80% more heat than white roofs repelling it back off (apparently the culprit for why my house will still have higher air conditioning bills in summer than it will really need to), would the retained heat have the slightest change at all in the amount of electricity generated by solar panels, or not? I'm thinking not, but then I think some more and I need a seven hour nap right now, so the thinking's bounces around a bit.

Probably not. Solar panels work off sunlight, not heat.
However, I'm not an expert, so I could be wrong. Unlikely though it is.

Coidzor

I'm no sciencepert or anything, but from what I recall, our current solar panels work by being excited by the photon and that causing electrons to move which generates the electricity through means I don't recall.

Waste heat being retained by the black roof and being radiated back out again... probably not, no, especially since it wouldn't be coming in from the right angle.

All the more reason to use white shingles when you reshingle it if you go via shingles. Or find the right kind of paint and paint it white if it is a metal roof. But I don't think they usually make metal roofs that are black by default...

Hmm, come to think of it, I wonder how bad red shingles are. Because I'd swear that's the color this roof is...

Step 1: Channel R. Lee Ermey.
Step 2: Force your trainee to do a task that is difficult but not quite impossible.
Step 3: Repeat Step 2 until they show moderate improvement, but not so long as to make the task trivial.
Step 4: Replace Step 2 with a new nigh-impossible task based on the trainee's improved ability.
Step 5: Repeat until the desired level of skill is reached. Remember, never congratulate your trainee with anything warmer than "I suppose you're not a COMPLETE failure" at the end of the training. This is your only permitted positive statement, and you may only use it once.

We had uniforms in school, it's the norm in Australia.
Fortunately, common sense prevailed, and we only had to wear our formal uniforms on Fridays.
Which was good, because it gets hot in Brisbane.
I actually quite liked our uniforms. The informal uniform (we called it the sports uniform) was a nice green with a golden yellow collar plus the school crest.
The formal was a plain white shirt, long gray pants and a tie. Simple and elegant. However, if you weren't in grade twelve and you were a boy, you had to wear all grey.

Our uniforms were...hmm, lemme remember. Red, white, or blue polo shirts and either grey or khaki slacks/skirts (I think there was a plaid skirt, too), unless you were a senior, when you could wear a black, sky blue, or green polo instead. Winter uniforms were white or blue dress shirts, red and black striped tie, the pants, and navy blazers with the school crest. The polo shirts had the school logo, too.

Well, the climate doesn't change much from season to season in Brisbane.
But the school also provided jumpers, spray jackets and trackpants for colder weather.
But the weekday based uniform always made sense to us. Throughout the week, you'd wear the sports uniform, which didn't really matter if anything got on it or anything. Also was much better for sporting activities.
And on Fridays, when we had assembly in the hall, we'd all be dressed in our formal uniforms. It was very practical that way. Our parents would only have to buy one formal uniform, which saved them money.

The German international school across the road had a semi uniform of white polo shirts, jeans and sneakers, while the consulate international schools had no uniforms.

I cringe every time I hear horror stories from overseas schools. My school had almost zero bullying, a rather friendly atmosphere, and very few drug problems. Few visible drug problems, I should rather say. I guess South Africans are just conditioned to be nicer :smalltongue:

I only wish it were in effect at my highschool. You have no idea how often I go about, and see midriffs, and fishnet stockings, and heaven forbid, sleeveless tees. Ugh :smallannoyed:.

I WISH.

Oh, what I would give to have more trashy white girls at my school... There is less than no dating material.

Actually, some of the grade 10s and 11s are pretty trashy, but still.

I see no problem with midriffs, fishnets, and sleevies as long as those porting them are attractive enough.

You...want trashy white girls? That's really strange to me. My expierance with people who are considered trashy are that...well, they're jerks who hate you.

Agreed. Not being an expert on relationships, don't come to me for advice concerning them, but I do know people.
If a person's the kind of person who can be described as trashy, they probably didn't get that way by being kind and generous.

My school uniform is blue camo and steel-toed boots. Except some days it's a khaki shirt and black pants with dress shoes. On Fridays it's this black wool contraption with thirteen buttons on the waistband and minimal pocket space. That last one is different for the girls; it's still black wool, but instead of a jumper they wear a blazer over a white blouse and what I understand to be a more sane waistband.

Yup. But they're hot.

Obviously I would prefer really hot yet amazingly smart and above all interesting girls. However, my chances are slim. (though is this one girl ever decides to happen to be online on facebook when I'm online, I haven't talked to her in a whole week, and when I did talk to her last there were promises of coffee...)

ION: the Adventure Playground, a small castle playground, in High Park? Just burned down. Arson. Why would you target a PLAYGROUND for arson?

Yes, I'm sure that must be dreadful.

Personally, I object to school uniforms.

They probably didn't have a good reason.

So I guess you could say... the playground...
*sunglasses*
got flamed?

=D

...

OW! Who threw that?! :smallmad:

Seriously though: Arson tends to be a crime of power, right? Something you do because you CAN and to reaffirm that yes, you indeed can, not because it makes sense or brings you any real joy? That's why.

Probably someone who wanted to make children cry.
Those fiends! Why couldn't they just buy a house with a fireplace like everyone else!

I agree, in general, but at school? Do they want the boys to get no work done? :smalltongue:

I don't get any work done anyhow. And some of us have self control. :smalltongue:

Really, the biggest distraction I've ever encountered at school is a window and a sunny day. If they'd just let us outside when the weather is nice... it'd be a much better learning environment.

Aah... Windows... An excellent addition to any room.
But slightly detrimental in a classroom. But with the way my school was structured, very few of the classrooms looked out over the ovals.
