View Full Version : [PF] Interesting build ideas for a PVP game

So I'm making a huge, premade pvp game (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=12878577#post12878577), mostly from former characters of my players or NPCs they've met in campaigns spanning 5 years. I'm trying to have one of every published PF class, plus one of every psionic class produced by Dreamscarred Press. I've already got a basic build idea (or more) for most of the core classes, but I need some ideas for some of the builds.

I want to have a mixture of roles and specialties, and, if possible, so interesting dynamics between the choices of characters. For example, the Barbarian has a little bit of optimization around Intimidate, so I want some of his opponents to have poor Wis modifiers (the easier to intimidate with), as well as a Paladin who is immune to fear. I also want each character to have at least 2-3 decent options in a combat situation (i.e. the Barbarian can trip, bullrush, intimidate, and damage; the Paladin has some crowd control, healing, and damage, etc.).

But anyway, my question is: What are some interesting build ideas for are the Sorcerer, Wizard, Alchemist, Inquisitor, Witch, Ninja, Samurai, Wilder, Vitalist, Tactician, and Aegis.

Is it 1v1, 2v2, free-for-all, or something else? It'll change what kinds of builds people will think of.

If there's any sort of party or teamworking, then I would suggest cackle for the witch, and then (mis)fortune everything. If not, then maybe some bearded touch attacks for the "interesting" you were looking for.

For ninja, maybe some smoke bombs so you can attack from concealment. I remember there being something that would let you see through smoke, maybe a flame oracle mystery, but I'm sure there's a magic item out there that does it. Mirror image will increase survivability. Bleeding attack from a smoke bomb, with mirror image could make the ninja win by attrition (hide in the smoke). Or the trick that lets you throw a bunch of ninja stars, which would get a bunch of sneak attack bonuses.

How about a poison specialist Alchemist.

I'm thinking Vivisectionist.
Str: 18 (+2 Racial / +1 Level 4)
Dex: 10
Con: 12
Int: 14
Wis: 8
Cha: 11

-- Discoveries --
lvl 2: Spontaneous Healing
lvl 4: Concentrate Poison
lvl 6: Sticky Poison

-- Feats --
Under Construction
1st/ Combat Expertise
3rd/ Improved Feint
5th/ Disengaging Feint

-- Bonus of Feats --
Human/ Hermean Blood (Bluff / Stealth)
1st/ Throw Anything
1st/ Brew Potion

-- Skills --
Total Skill Points = 42

Appraise:
Bluff: 6 ranks + 0 Cha + 3 In-class = 9
Craft (Alchemy): 6 ranks + 2 Int + 6 Competence + 3 In-Class = 17
Disable Device: 0 ranks + 0 Dex = 0
Fly: 0 ranks + 0 Dex = 0
Heal: 0 ranks + -1 Wis = -1
Knowledge (arcana): 1 ranks + 2 Int + 3 In-class = 6
Knowledge (nature): 4 ranks + 2 Int + 3 In-class = 11
Perception: 6 ranks - 1 Wis + 3 In-class = 8
Profession (Assassin): 0 ranks + -1 Wis = -1
Sleight of Hand: 1 ranks + 0 Dex + 3 In-class = 4
Spellcraft: 6 ranks + 2 Int + 3 In-class = 11
Stealth: 6 ranks + 0 Dex + 3 In-class = 9
Survival: 0 ranks - 1 Wis = -1
Use Magic Device: 6 ranks + 0 Cha + 3 In-class = 9

-- Abilities --
Alchemy: Enables Potion-type Spellcasting.
3d6 Sneak Attack: Like the Rogue.
Mutagen: +4 to a Physical stat, -2 to a correlating Mental stat.
Torturer’s Eye: Add Deathwatch to his formula book
Poison Resistance: +4 bonus to saves vs Poison
Use Poison: Can't Accidentally poison self when applying Poison to a weapon.
Cruel Anatomist: Use Knowledge (Nature) in place of Heal
Swift Alchemy: Crafting Poison and Alchemical items take Half as much time.
Swift Poisoning: Apply poison to weapon as a Swift Action

So how does it look so far?

He/She can do several things, but is mostly a Hit-and-Run expert. Getting into the thick of it with the aid of extracts and maybe Mutagens, then Feinting and getting away if necessary.

It's probably going to be 4v4 or 5v5. I'm still considering how much like Dota I want to make it.

Hmmm...very nice, very nice. I wanted a poisoner in there somewhere, and a Rogue-like Alchemist would be a great addition. Do you have any preferences for what s/he's name and a simple backstory would be?

Nah, you can give him/her any sex or background you like.
