Everyone has seen them. These are the stubborn people who won't adapt in game when their strategy isn't the best one, and can occasionally cause other characters to suffer for it. These aren't the characters that want a heroic end or even think death is coming for them. Some may qualify for darwin awards, but that is just an added bonus.

I ask those of you that have experience with these characters to share you stories for a chuckle or possibly to vent if you have them in your party/campaign.

My own stories will come when i am on a laptop and not my phone.

Well I don't know what really happened anymore but I know that we were thrown into prison after guards insulted our barbarian (female) and I tried to smooth things out. In which the Barbarian Died, the Air Genasi was used as Experiment and I lost nearly all my gear...but survived.

Two of our party members (they're teenaged brothers) had recently lost their father in the current adventure arc. The sons left the party to seek help from a vampire (Necromancy & Pedophile specialist) to ressurect their father.

How this doesn't scream "BAD IDEA!" to them, the rest of us may never know.

I used to have a Gnome Illusionist/Summoner that was Chaotic Neutral (Probably leaning more towards Chaotic Evil).

It was my second pc I had ever really played intensively and we had gotten to lvl 17. My thing was that I would go invisible during combat. Go a little bit away from the party and then summon illusions or monsters then flip a coin to decide who was going to be affected or attacked.

One day I did this one too many times and to say the least... My Party and my DM were not happy. So we were climbing up the side of a mountain and I failed to say I was checking the rope mounts that the rogue was placing above me.

One failed climb skill check later my gnome was hanged. The DM said my death was mercifully swift...

The worst part of it is... They just left her there. Magic Items and all. To serve as a warning to all meddling gnome kind... She is still hanging there... 14 years later...

A shoddy rope mount hanged you? That's...unique. I'd think that you just would have fallen and gone splat. But either way, a fitting end to a character that doesn't promote party cohesion and knowingly attacks his allies.

Does having an unoptimized Barbarian in a party containing an ultra-turning-cleric and a wildshape-focused-druid count? They're just a walking deathwish. (Especially in Ravenloft.) :smallamused:
