My DM doesn't like the prestige classes I was going to take :( so, I need to build something out of what he has approved.

1. I will be a focused specialist conjurer.
I am planning on banning Evocation and Enchantment.
Question What do I choose for a 3rd school? Abjuration, Necromancy, or Illusion? I am leaning towards abjuration, because we have a cleric and druid for dispels/protection spells. Necromancy has some nice debuffs and illusion has a good set of spells.

2. I need to choose some combination of
a. Master Specialist
b. LoreMaster
c. Arch Mage

We will probably only play until 12th level, so it is unlikely I will ever hit arch mage levels.

Question What build to use?
Wizard 3/ Master Specialist 10/Wizard 2/ArchMage 5
Wizard 5/ Master Specialist 3/ LoreMaster 7/ArchMage 5

I am unsure if master specialist is really worth it for all 10 levels, as it is unlikely I will ever get to 10th for the swift spell 3x per day.

3. I need to select feats:
I have decided on these to start
Extend Spell, Spell Focus(Conj), Metamagic school focus(conj), Sculpt Spell

Question What other feats should I get? I will probably add quicken spell at 9th level, but beyond that, I have no idea.

Thanx for the help!

Unless you're summoning, Master Conjurer is not that great past level 3. Otherwise, fairly sound ideas.

Why do you need a 3rd school banned? It's not required for any of the PrC's you're looking at. Just stick with Evocation and Enchantment.

I'd vote for the Wizard 5/ Master Specialist 3/ LoreMaster 7/ArchMage 5 option.

And remember, you can pick up Spontaneous Divination at Wizard 5 (ACF from Complete Champion). Never have to waste another slot on a divination spell again, you can just spontaneously whip out any divination in your spell book on demand!

Other feats and options...

If you're worried about being too squishy and you don't think Heart of Earth will solve all your problems, check out Minor Shapeshift feat (Complete Mage). As a swift action you can grant yourself Temp HP equal to your character level. While that means you have to choose between a swift spell and temp HP each round, it gives you the option to renew a pool of temp HP every round. Couple that with some DR and you're one hard mage to drop!

If you're worried about a stingy DM, consider the Geometer PrC (complete Arcane) instead of Master Specialist. You copy spells and maintain a spell book for a fraction of the cost that it usually costs, and it comes with the Glyph spells and a few metamagic effects. (and when each spell takes only 1 page, suddenly using the "spell book tattooed on your body" option becomes high-capacity storage.

Focused Specialist means taking three banned schools.

Ban evocation, enchantment, and necromancy.

How about this for a build: wizard 5/mage of the arcane order 2/earthdreamer 5/mage of the arcane order 8

Earthdreamer is a PrC from Rces of stone. Lets you see through stone and then GLIDE through stone at level 5..... so scout out a whole dungeon, see what is there, and then take appropriate spells. Also, use the floor as cover. It really is awesome, IMHO.

feats:
H: some metamagic feat (extend, sudden widen, whatever)
wiz 1: get improved initiative instead of scribe scroll
1: SF: Conjuration *OR* Cloudy Conjuration, depending on future PrCs or feats
3: Earth Sense (Races of Stone- needed for earthdreamer, but cool anyway)
wiz 5: cooperative spell (Complete Arcane- needed for mage of the arcane order, unfortunately)
6: Metamagic School Focus
MotAO 2: Quicken Spell
