I really hate to be "that guy."

I've been trying to run a search query for the past 40 minutes, and literally the only things I've been seeing are "You can only search once per 30 seconds," a big, blank screen, and server errors. Ooooohhhhh, server errors.

Here's my question: How many characters can one post contain? Isn't it like 50,000 or something?

A followup question: Why is there not a stickied FAQ thread in gigantic, bolded letters in this section of the board? Or anywhere, as far as I can tell?

I believe the character limit is 25,000 per post, as I remember having to split up my Shadowsun Ninja remake into two posts, and that clocks in at just over 27,000 characters.

You mean that large tab next to User CP at the top of the screen?

50,000 characters, including spaces. I can guarantee it's more than 25,000, as I have a 48,000 character post, and I can guarantee it's less than 52,000 characters. Which probably means it's 50,000.

Maybe it's different for different subforums, but I distinctly remember being prompted with a oversized post error when I tried to submit the aforementioned 27k post. If it matters, that post went into the Homebrew section; where is the 48k post?

One thing to keep in mind is that the forum counts any and all formatting, spaces, linebreaks, etc. that are often ignored by character counting thingies.

The character limit for a post is 50,000 characters, includin line breaks and spaces. Using a standard program to check and the. Pasting into the playground can add upwards of five hundred characters or more to a post. Unlike a signature, this includes BBCODE tags as well, so this post is 26 characters longer for me than you, because it counts my color tags.

The private message system can only support somewhere around 25,000 characters.

My information has been gained from numerous attempts to post above the limit; it tells you directly, "the maximum character limit is 50,000 characters. You have XX,XXX characters." I can find a supporting image, give me a second.

Here we are (this, of course, adds another hundred or so character's that you'll never really see :smalltongue:)
