[PF] Alchemist Build Help for a First-Time Player

Howdy, Playground. A brand new player is joining our game in progress, and he really wants to play a half-elf alchemist. Thing is, I'm not exactly sure how to make a good, simple build that lets the alchemist really shine.

In short:

Half Elf Alchemist 8
Stats (before racials, in no particular order): 13 11 18 11 8 16
Any PF, with some 3.5 material allowed on a case-by-case basis.
As effective as possible without too much complexity.
I was leaning toward something bomb centric, but I dunno how this guy feels about that.

The game's Saturday night, so any help you guys can offer before then would be greatly appreciated. I'd much rather let the new guy test drive this class than have an NPC fobbed off on him.

Depends on what you want.

A bomber or a brute fighter.

This (http://pathfinder.ogrehut.com/tag/alchemist/) is a good place to start. It's a good introduction and at a level of optimization that most GMs will accept.
