View Full Version : [3.5] Ways to boost save DC's/Lower enemy saves?

As per the topic. I'm trying to find a bunch of different ways to boost a saves DC (short of increasing the ability score it's based on) or lower an enemies saves. The DC's in question aren't for spells, one is for Doomspeak (as that curses the enemy with a -10 on saves for a round) and the other is for Death Strike a once per day necromantic death effect that Bone Knights can do.

Now inflicting fear (specifically shaken, as oddly enough cowering doesn't lower saves) will get a -2 penalty to saves, and you can do it through intimidate so it's a straight character level + wisdom + fear bonuses check opposed against your intimidate check. Then Doomspeak is a Will save, DC of 10 + character level + charisma (and it isn't a fear effect or mind-affecting).

Finally Paladin of Tyranny gives a -2 penalty to saves as a 10ft aura.

Should the target fail the check and the will save then they'll have a whopping -14 to their saving throws. However I'm not sure if there's any way to boost the DC of death strike short of having a really high charisma bonus.

It'd have to be something that:
- Doesn't require a change in race (currently human)
- Doesn't require any class levels (currently 1 Bard/4 Paladin of Tyranny/1 Ur-priest/9 Bone Knight)
- Lasts more than one round. Doomspeak and Shaken only last a round, DS can be done using Harmonize (use bardic music as a move action), the swift action is used to gain a move action from a belt of battle, that move action is used to demoralize (armour enchant), then the standard action for death strike.

NOTE: This is just a CO exercise as optimising around death strike is rather impractical considering that immunity to death effects or being a non-living creature (ie undead/construct) would render it useless. Especially since it's a combo only usable once per day.
