Pika...

Hey,

Anyone know of any songs, or even video game music/midis/whatever for the following scenes/scenarios that my characters will be in?

-Forest music/sounds. (Currently vital)
-Mountain Traveling music. (Soon to be vital)
-Castle/Keep music.
-Music for the various planes.
-Cave music.
-Dungeon music.
-New battle music. (FF and Kirby are getting old...)

PS.
Music with no lyrics would be preferred to not interrupt the game, but instead give a background theme to it.

Many Pikas in advance!

Have a look through the stuff by Two Steps From Hell. It's all instrumental and damned epic to boot.

There is an official role-playing soundtrack for D&D by Midnight Syndicate.

Also the Baldur's Gate game soundtracks are pretty good.

Two Steps From Hell +9001. I swear that your players will kick more ass to that music than if they were on a case of Red Bull apiece. It is also fantastic for the DM's mind. I set it on every time I game.

ES Posthumus is also good...

Look at soundtracks: Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Harry Potter, How to Train Your Dragon (Don't diss that track, thing is epic), and similar movies have tracks that may help you a lot.

Starcraft 2 also has a pretty damn awesome sound track, especially "The Deal", "Card to Play" and "Fire and Fury"

I also say two steps from hell.
I've also assembled a playlist of various battle music.

Feel free to use it, or browse it for songs you like.
Also, try listening to it while doing mundane things, like making a sandwich. It will become the most epic sandwich you have ever made.

Adding another vote for Two steps from hell (henceforth to known as Awesome) for the less pulse rate increasing music you might also want to consider Future world music and City of the fallen.

E.S. Posthumus is an independent group that creates epic "trailer music". It's really amazing.

I would highly, highly recommend the soundtracks from all four seasons of Battlestar Galactica (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dpopular&field-keywords=battlestar+galactica). The music is amazing for its sheer range and emotional power. Bear McCreary is the composer, and he brings in instruments from around the world, with phoenomenal effect. Noble sacrifice, lonely heroes, elegant villainy, it's all there.

Recently I ran a combat encounter with "Storming New Caprica" in the background, from BSG Season 3. It's almost entirely war drums, and it was perfect for the fight--a hammering crescendo that doesn't quit. Guaranteed to get your heartrate going.

Bear McCreary also did the soundtrack for Sarah Connor Chronicles, which is appropriately menacing and metallic. It rarely reaches the same emotional depth as BSG, but certainly very heavy and direct if that's what you're looking for.

I add in my vote for Two Steps from Hell, though most of it is boss-type music.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtxNw8Rs8Ds I've used this for forest travel music.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxZu4j2Wagg This is what I've used in the past for mountain travel, although the mountains were a blasted, volcanic wasteland.

Touhou is a pretty good source for music, as its fanmade remixes are extremely good and cover pretty much all genres of music (even Celtic/Irish folk!), so you can just look for what suits your taste.

There are some really awesome instrumentals that are on par with Two Steps from Hell, such as:

i can't believe that no one has recommended the conan the barbarian soundtrack by Basil Poledouris. it is without a doubt the most epic music i've ever heard. it alternates from beautiful melody to violent drum thunder most wonderfully.

I can't remember where I found it but I had a ukelele cover of the battle music from Pokemon Red. My lyre-playing-bard used it to inspire courage. It could work well for your battle music
