Was a thread about divine rank and stuff, but due to stuff, not talking about it.

Most of these are given statistics in the Deities and Demigods sourcebook. You can look them up.

This is one book I've never perused. Thank you, sir.

Just as a heads up, this is dangerously into real world religious discussion, which is forbidden here.

Yes, I am aware that generally no one worships these gods any more. But...

The official WotC opinion from Deities and Demigods is that Zeus has divine rank 19, Poseidon and Hades are both 17, and Hercules has divine rank 5. They also have stats for the rest of the Greek pantheon, along with the Egyptian and Norse pantheons. I don't put much stock in WotC's stat blocks in that book (for one example, what I know of Hercules' story fits with divine rank 0, not 5), but there it is.

In any case, this is perilously close to the real world religion ban, and should probably be discussed elsewhere. It may be an old religion with few followers, but it is still a real world religion and the forum rules make no distinction about age and size of religions.

Thanks for the heads up. I was actually thinking about this as I was writing the original post, but... from the viewpoint of mythology it should be okay (I think).

Well... I guess if everyone's going to say this I oughta change it just to be safe.

Personally, I disagree; the fact that published stats exist of the various pantheons means that discussing them and what these stats entail is well within the code of conduct.

In my opinion; I don't know if the mods would have a different one, obviously.

The Mod Wonder: This is correct. If you are talking about deities in the obviously fictional context of the game, then you're within the rules. When you begin talking about real-world deities that do not have defined in-game stats, you're straying into a tenuous area. When you start talking about the religious stories of various deities, especially in a non-game context, you're into the no zone.

It is a difficult line to walk, so please be aware of it. The thread is closed.
