Is there a way to view all the forum avatars so I can pick one I like? Currently, it seems trial and error based on the text descriptions is the only way. It'd be really helpful if there was a single page somewhere with all the images on display.

Has this been made? Is it possible to make one?

No, you can't, and no, if it was done by anyone but the Giant and admins it couldn't be posted here, and if I recall correctly, they've said it isn't going to happen.

Best shot is opening two browser windows and update over, and over, and over again. Or get a custom avy.

Sheriff: IIRC, there isn't an official one and putting one together would require someone to take, use, and alter Rich's art in a way that the Forum Rules (and Rich personally) has asked people not to do.
