Stuff you wonder if it's intentional or not?

Anyone else come across little things now and then in the strip that you wonder if they're intentional, or you're just reading too much into things? Case in point:

Elan's scratched out message refers to Xykon as a "soresirer." Could be just an obvious pun on Elan's oft-cluelessness, but it also occurred to me that it could be a double pun. "Sore" also means grieved or distressed... such as Roy's father ("sire") was when Xykon killed his mentor... thus the whole involvement of the Order with Xykon started because of Roy's "sore sire."

I love the parallel between Tarquin (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0760.html) and Nale's (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0794.html) rants about each other, but I don't know if that was intentional.
