So, the first session of my new game is in a couple of days, and I need to work up a 4th-level NPC paladin. I already have the stats and the build, so what I really need is equipment--weapons, armor, gear, etc. The paladin will be affiliated with the PCs (at least to start) and is there to support them.
The paladin is a gold dwarf and the campaign will be starting in Waterdeep, so most lower-level magic items will be available with the right family connections, which he has. I'm starting him with 5400 gp, which is the standard WBL, and 2000 of that is already spent.
This leaves 3400 gp for armor and kit, both magical and nonmagical. Pretty much all WotC 3.0/3.5 publications are fair game, as well as items from Dragon magazine. So, what should he get?
