How would you create/price items that grant class features or abilities similar to class features. Specifically, I'm thinking of a book that contains the mental imprint of a deceased bard (not an intelligent item). I'd like this book to open to open to a page with information relating to a given topic as per a bardic knowledge check when prompted by the user.
1. What spell would this be based on? I was thinking Legend Lore, but maybe there's another option.
2. How would you price such an item? I mean, Monk's belt is 13K, should this be similar?
3. I'm torn on if the book should use the creator's CL and intelligence score for the check, or the reader's. Maybe 1/2 character level + int would be more appropriate, or a flat bonus if you already have bardic knowledge. This way it scales with the party.
The item is probably going to be a relic item, or even an artifact, but I'm just curious about an appropriate pricing scheme.
