Okay, so I'm looking to take a character, and fix her up a little bit for a new campaign. In my old campaign, she was extremely weak and uesless compared to the Master Specialist Abjurer, the Crusader, and the Assassin (although she did keep up with the Favored Soul). I don't mind changing around the class levels a bit, but the feel needs to stay the same; a master with the whip and lasso.

BASIC BUILD: Rogue 7 / Lasher 7
Neutral Good
The Wild Cohort feat should stay too if at all possible.
The "Headband of Perfect Excellence" is from the 3.0 Sword & Fist, and gives +6 to Strength, Dexterity, and Wisdom.

Any advice you guys have would be extremely appreciated.

Does it have to be master with specialized whip tricks? Or will a master warrior that simply happens to use a whip do?

For example, could you not simply make her a warblade/ crusader/ swordsage 14, that just happens to have invested in whip feats?

Thing is, I don't know of any whip feats that turn it from subdual damage into lethal, and for the types of campaigns run at my college, that tends to be important.

Would using a Whip-Dagger suit the characters style sufficiently to be a possible solution?

also (as your already using a 3.0 magic item) there's the mighty whip, and mighty dagger whip that let you add your strength mod to damage with them, and i believe there 1D6 damage. they're in the Arms and Equipment Guide. definitely take improved trip and knockdown (free trip attempt if you deal 10 or more damage with the attack) with your str boosting item and improved trip, if you deal 10 dmg you get a free trip attempt, followed up by a free attack because improved trip does that you get plenty of extra attacks. also combat reflexes so when ever someone provokes, you ge 2 attacks (attack, free trip, free attack.)

Definitely taking Knockdown, that's fantastic. As a lasher, she gets Improved Trip for free, so that's already on there.

Not sure of your DM's willingness to allow 3rd party in to the game but I found this to be absolutely wonderful for any whip based character.

E.N. Arsenal Whip (http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/2580/E.N.Arsenal---Whip?it=1)

It's 20 pages dedicated to whips, whip feats and whip prestige classes.

If you take the Feat Rogue ACF for 4 levels you could pick up a few of the really nice feats pretty quick and maintain some of the skill set from your previous character also. Then jump in a ToB class to bump up your character up a little in the "usefulness" category.

I normally never recommend homebrew/3rd party, but the Cthonic Serpent Discipline is awesome and flavorful. Tacks right onto swordsage and gives you a chain/rope weapon using, reach, grappler.
