Currently playing a Druid in a nautical campaign with almost all enemies being human. More melee focused, though my spells are far from forgotten. Just curious if a 3 level dip into ranger for Favored Enemy/Favored Terrain would be worth the investment. 3 levels still lets me get 1 9th level spell (Shapechange?), but would getting Favored Enemy (Humans) and Favored Terrain (Water) is be too little? The Combat style feats are useless to me, as I took Heavy Armor Prof. to wear my Darkwood Full Plate (random treasure roll that finally got lucky).

Also we, as a group, are pretty low OP. The Cleric-tank and I (plus Hawk companion) are the main damage dealers, with the monk and rogue falling behind in damage almost every combat. It would mostly be for flavor, but the survival bonus on water is nice (I have taken it upon myself to feed our ships crew via fishing)

Anyway, anything constructive would be great.

Or, if anyone has any other possible build ideas/dips, I would love to hear.

1 level of Ranger qualifies you for the Shapeshifting Hunter (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/shapeshifting-hunter) feat.
Your Ranger/Druid levels stack for Favored Enemy, and # of Wildshape uses.

If you can, take the World Walker (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/archetypes/paizo---druid-archetypes/world-walker) Archetype for Druid, you trade some "meh" abilities, and gain Favored Terrain as a Ranger.

There you go, 1 level of Ranger, and you have Full Favored Enemy/Terrain.

Wow. Thats much easier. I hope I can get my DM to let me retroactively add on the World Walker Archetype. Are there any other ideas out there that fit thematically as well? I dont wanna throw all my eggs in one basket just yet.

The only other thing I have for the moment is the Nature Warden prestige class. I wouldn't do it in the same build as Shapeshifting Hunter though, as it wouldn't progress Favored Enemy, and doesn't progress Wild Shape (although Shaping Focus (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/shaping-focus) can help some with that).

Entry can be done with straight World Walker Druid (skill points may be an issue though).
Otherwise 1 level of Horizon Walker (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/e-h/horizon-walker) or Warden (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/ranger/archetypes/paizo---ranger-archetypes/warden) Ranger can get you the Favored Terrain requirement.

It has some decent abilities, progressing everything "Druid" except for Wild Shape, but it's only 3/4 casting.
Mystic Harmony (at 2nd) would be the most use, while in one of your Favored Terrains you get 1/2 your Favored bonus to AC.

With World Walker Druid, you could take all 10 levels and still get 9th level spells.

If you can get World Walker Druid approved, then you 'might' consider going Ranger 1/Druid X/Nature Warden 2/Druid +X, you'd lose a little all around, but ultimately come out ahead.
