What does this abbreviation mean? Also, when will the search option be back? I miss it.

That's the closest I could find at Acronym Finder for something that reasonably would apply to many of the discussions here. Especially Homebrew...

As far as I know, it's just a word (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fiat?s=t), not an abbreviation.

Fiat is a latin word meaning, roughly, "let it be," with the sense of a command.

The most famous example is "fiat lux," from Latin translations of the bible, literally "let there be light." Hence DM fiat is the DM exercising his god-like power to do whatever the heck he/she wants.
