While the main players are gathering in the foreground to fight over Girard's gate, the IFCC is sitting of in the sidelines, unnoticed and nearly undiscussed. Their end goals are enigmatic and hard to understand, but I think something crucial involving them might happen soon, considering what we know right now. In many ways, the current SNAFU is organized by them, and I wonder how much they knew beforehand and how much they know now. They only just recently learned about the gates from Sabine after Nale did, but we know they are in close enough contact with Tiamat that the dragon goddess was able to recognize their hand in Familicide and then clog up several of their phone lines. One wonders then how factors like Girard being in the ABD's family factored into their pre-splice analysis. If they're in contact with Tiamat, they could have even set the whole thing up through the Oracle, though I think a technical analysis of kobold dust might not be appropriate here.

However, we do know that the IFCC are careful planners, and I wonder with some of their pawns (the Linear Guild) distracting the order on one side, if they aren't going to collect their due on V's soul sometime in the near future. Remember, the around 2 hours total time they got collectively on V's soul is more than enough for their purposes, while the gates ritual takes a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, Team Evil is looming in the distance after finally getting done moving their asses in response to V's soul splice.

Anyways, even though these guys have been kinda background in the whole plot, it seems like a lot of their "pieces" are moving into place. What does anybody here think they're doing, and why are they doing it?

... and nearly undiscussed.

Hardly. :smallwink:

It's just that there's no new information for now. But that they'll make their move and when they do that it's going to have a maassive influence on things is undisputed.

ya the IFCC is a complete mistery we have no idea how much they know, what they want to happen, how much they can change events or even how much they want to change events

we dont know there assets or there goals and dont know which team tehy want to succeed

until we have more info on them discussion is pointless since its all speculation

There's not much foundation upon which to build a theory. They claim they want unnecessary, destructive conflict; they don't want "either side" to win; and they promised Tiamat a slaughter of metallic dragons that they consider trivial to their long-term goals. Familicide was only technically a result of plans to overthrow the gods of Good.

1. Unnecessary destructive conflict could mean anything from "maintaining the status quo" to "massive End of Days climactic battle with the forces of Good."

2. Assuming they'd rather not see Team Evil or the Order win, their plan probably involves the release of the Snarl under conditions less controlled than Redcloak's idea. That suggests they either know more about the Snarl than we do, that what we know of the Snarl as a force of primal chaos is wrong, and/or they know less about the Snarl than they ought to. They might imagine it as a mighty multidimensional beast they can let loose, not realizing it can unmake the universe. (They did get the story via Sabine, via Nale, via Shojo.)

3. There's no timeframe set upon their promise to Tiamat. Over what period will they destroy those dragons as promised? It could be centuries.

4. They didn't take credit for the idea of overthrowing the gods of Good, nor did thru even suggest approval of those plans. The IFCC could be working to save the universe for all we know, except that they don't want the Order to "win" (whatever that entails).

There's so many unknowns.
