it is springtime on the continent and the fate of the world is still uncertain 500 years after the shattering. people wake up everyday knowing that it may be their last day on earth... but life goes on

in the west

what is the latest news from the surrounding areas? the harmonioum empires military dictator of the western shores asked a small middle aged man, his chief of external affairs

the man clears his throat then replies the nagarean theocracy seeks allies against us as usual but we have managed to prevent an actual war so far. our ports have seen a suspiciously large number of merchant vessels arriving in the past few weeks. supposedly from some rising power in the western ocean. they are no great threat however.

excellent news. things are going much better than expected. soon we should be able to let the emperor himself visit his new holdings. how goes are campaign against the giants in the mountains?

the small mans eyes grow melancholy. not good. they have repulsed all of our attacks. we managed to avoid taking too many losses but they managed to get general brunae during the battle. what are your orders?

the dictator transcribes several documents and affixs his seal to them before responding i am sorry to hear about the general. pull all our forces back from the mountains we cannot afford to lose any more men right now. also i would like you to order the general staff to move fully half of the available legions to the dalmascan border. just in case the theocracy tries something.

yes my lord. the man says with a bow and withdraws from the room

in the south

her royal majesty, queen lymslea of the queendom of faluna sat in council with her top advisors. no! we can not afford to aid the theocracy in this matter. i would like to keep up diplomatic relations but we cant risk antagonizing the empire. see if we can aid them in another way the queen says to the assembled councilors

okay. i see your point. her elder brother conceded

there now that thats settled is there anything else that requires my attention? the queen said in a bored voice. she was never very comfortable in matters of state

her high commander, sir georg who was quiet up until that point spoke up there isnt really anything else going on at the moment. the rozarians are conducting war games but thats nothing new and the vale is quiet as usual. however we have been recieving disturbing reports of some sort of hellish cult to the south claiming land. they hav'nt been overtly hostile yet but all the same

the queen instantly perked up at that. mobilize the army then and have all fleets ready to sail down the feitas river at a moments notice. i want to see if we can resolve this peacefully though. perhaps these reports are exaggerated

in the east

bah!!! just mobilize the army and send those beasts back to whatever hell they came from. i refuse to let those damn goblins push us around!

the dwarf kings aide says right away my king. and with that he salutes and runs off

in the north

any other potential profitable oppurtunitys here in the north? the merchant prince kholad asks his wife, a slim half elf with thick blonde hair

his wife responds in a rich melodic voice quite a bit actually. apparently there are rumours of some sort of risen king back from the dead who is attempting to forge a empire for himself. i dont really believe that hes dead of course but it would be wise to keep a few eyes up there. i also sent a few people to check out that mine you asked me about. they managed to buy up the entire mining party right under their masters nose. in other news it turns out that the gnomes may have some competition from some forgotten race of trolls if you believe the rumours of drunk old men and the hive mind is doing nothing as usual

prince kholad laughed and said ha ha ha. quite a bit of unlikely news up here then. but i suppose we'll keep an eye out nonetheless

In the Depths of Forge Citadel Col'Volac
The Thane is watching over the counsil of Deep lords, which is arguing the merits of contuined isolationisim, vurses returning to the world. The debating is fierce on both sides, With Templar Kol'rok as the leader for Isolationisim, to be free from the magicaly tainted surface dwellers, while Runelord Tolvxiv emerged as the leader of the remergence. "Enough. As this debate could rage on for weeks, we will do the following. We will send gifts to several nations, and await their response. If things go badly, we can always seal ourselves in here. We have heard rumors of the Fallen ones return, and several of our agents on the surface have identifed key markets. We will send them our tradtional gift." As the Thane orders it, they obey. Soon, Several Shields were being sent out.

To the mountin Trolls
At the Mountin Trolls main city, a Deep Troll appears. "Hail cousins! I wish to speak with your chief."

To the Queendom of Faluna
A troll, dressed in well made Grey sppears in one of your mines. Speaking broken trade tounge, it has a package that it wants to deliver to the queen.

To the Dwarven Alliance
A Troll in very well made clothes walks into one of your mines, and in Broken Trade tounge, calls itself a ambassador, and asks to see the king.

To the Risen
A Troll Appears on your borders, and speaks the tounge of your empire flawlessly, "Hail Risen Sons of the Fallen. We seek to renew our Freindship of old, from before you went down into deaths cold realm. I come bearing a Gift for your emporer."

To the Gnomes
A Troll shows up on your borders and is speaking a old form of gnomish.
"Hail tinkerfolk. We wish to forge new ties between our peoples, and come bearing a gift for your leader."

To the Zexan consortium
A troll appers in one of your mines, and in a broken form of trade speech, says it's a ambassador. It asks for a meeting with one of your leaders.

The Risen Empire

Morale: +++++ ++-

To all(OOC):
Yes, Patria is a nation of fanatics, worshiping their god-emperor. I'll try to represent that in the roleplay.

In a bright land, within the White City, upon His golden throne, the Emperor watches over His people, holding them within His grey eyes.

From the effectively omnipresent eyes which are His sigil, the Emperor watches. From the Flesh Imperishable with which all Patrians are blessed, the Emperor protects.

From the endless pools of magic and will that the Emperor embodies, Patria is given the bidding of the Emperor, and the Emperor bids it to rise. So the Emperor has decreed. So it is, for in Patria, the Emperor is God.

Within the courtyard which rests beneath the Emperor's court, the doors to the Bottomless Tomb stand open. Within the afterlife, the dead hear the Emperor's call, and it is heeded. Stepping forth, one by one the countless dead receive the Gift of the Flesh Imperishable.

Praise and Glory to the Emperor, for He is Risen! By the Grace of the Emperor, Patria is Risen!. As the Emperor commands, so does Patria act! The Emperor has given His command, and all Patria shall hear it and grow great in His name!

To: The Grim

<OOC>I'm going to be using you to refer to the ambassador, and for no other purpose during this section. Hopefully that makes this a lot more readable.</OOC>

The robed Patrian which discovers you seems a little surprised, but then seems to recognize you. "Hail, friend of old. The Emperor would speak to you directly, if you are willing to come."

A faint golden glow seems to appear on the horizon, and you instinctively know that there is where the Emperor will be found.

To: The Venetian Isles

A tall man garbed in a robe of blackened silk arrives on the shore of one of the larger isles. It isn't certain how he got there, with no boat or other means of transport apparent. He is requesting an audience.

To: The Zexan Consortium

A large woman garbed in blue and black silk arrives in the city, and requests an audience. She is claiming ambassadorial status, though no nation is claimed yet.

Venetian Isles
morale: +

Yet another session of the bickering council. Thinks Grand Admiral Antonio da Parma as he enters the Council Chambers. At least I should be able to unite them in their quest for wealth. I shouldn't have much trouble pushing through todays Agenda.

With his arrival everyone in the council chambers rises and offers a salute. Sloppy he thinks as he watches some of the councilmen. He returns the salute quickly, and moves to take his seat. After sitting through hours of internal troubles he finally finds an opening and motions for Caterina di Franco to speak.

Caterina rises and begins a presentation to the council, saying My fellow Councilors I would like to propose an update on our trading policy. Until now most of our trade has been focused on the nearby nations, however thanks to our new Cannons we now have the Naval power to defend longer trade routes to more distant nations. I propose to the council that we extend our hand to the Vale city-states and the Zexan Consortium.

Zevran, a council member with heavy interests in the merchants guilds immediatly rises and says I second this motion. Trade will greatly benefit our nation, and we should seek it wherever we can.

After some minor discussion on technicalities the council approves the proposal.

Antonio is pleasantly surprised that he did not have use his influence to pass the measure, but supposes that in matters of money the councilors are fairly level headed. Now comes the hard part He thinks to himself, before rising and saying The Navy of the League has decided that our new found naval power should be used to seek out unexplored island in the surrounding area. This promises to be a great was to expand our economy and increase our standing in the world. As such We propose allocating a third of our Naval resources to the finding of new colonies.

Zevran immediately leaps to his feet with a look of outrage on his face. A third! Our navy is all that keeps pirates from raiding our trade routes! and you propose to send them on a fools errand to find islands that may not even exist? How could you even think this.

Francisco Caravello slowly rises and in an almost bored tone says Sir I think you greatly underestimate the strength of our navy, although what else can you expect from someone who does nothing but lounge in his villa all day. This prompts some laughter, and after it dies down Caravello continues The navy has already destroyed the pirates in the area, you have nothing to fear from them. We can easily afford the losses, after all we have a greater navy than basically everyone on the planet, and unless we piss of the harmonium it looks like it will be staying that way.

The insult combined with the rational response and the obvious approval from the Grand Admiral is enough for the councilors to barely pass the vote, at which point Antonio breathes out a sigh of relief. He wasn't sure that measure would pass. Despite that he regretted having to go to Caravello for help. There would certainly be some payment at a later date.

The council continued debating trivial issues for another hour before the session ended and Antonio walked back to his office to speak with Caterina.

I appreciate that you were willing to go to Caravello. I know how unpleasant that must have been, given how at odds you two usually are. The islands we find should greatly increase our strength and position in the world.

Indeed, they will. Now I will write out a missive to the Harmonium, formally introducing us and our peaceful intentions. Hopefully they won't be to suspicious. I want you to write to the Vale, and the Consortium. Hopefully we can get some deals out of them.

To the Harmonium

To the duly appointed representatives of the Holy Harmonium Empire, I the Grand Admiral of the Venetian Naval League wish to formally offer greetings and open negotiations with your nation. Recently a great many of our merchant ships have been going to your empire to trade, as you have likely noticed. I wish to assure you that the Venetian Isles have no hostile intent, and merely wish to open friendly relations. Hopefully we can soon come to a mutually profitable arrangement. I understnad that you have recently come to acquire some new lands. Bringing these lands up to the high Harmonium standards will surely cost a good deal of money. I'm sure that the Venetian Isles can provide a good trading partner for the good you undoubtedly need. I sincerely hope that we can come to an agreement soon.

Antonio da Parma, Grand Admiral of the Venetian Naval League

To the Vale

To the representatives of the Vale city-states, I bring greetings from the Venetian Isles, and wish to negotiate a mutually beneficial proposal. With our expanded navy we are now capable of defending trade routes to more distant nation such as yourself, and wish to propose a trade agreement. We wish for the reduction of tariffs so that merchants will be able to trade more easily. We would both benefit immensely from this proposal. Your resources could benefit our nation immensely, and our trade relations could give you access to goods of supreme quality from all over the world. Surely you see the benefits that could be gained by this. We will be awaiting your response with anticipation.

Caterina di Franco, Minister of trade for the Venetian Naval League

To the Zexan Consortium

To the representatives of the Zexan Consotrium I bring greeting from the Venetian Isles, and wish to discuss a mutually profitable proposal. We have a large network of sea trading relationships with nations across the world, and would like to expand our list of trading partners. As you are currently the largest trading empire in the world an association between us would bring unheard of profits. With your network we could buy goods from territories in the interior of the main continent, while from us you would gain easier access to the goods produced in the island nations. Additionally our merchants ships could provide a faster and cheaper route for your trade with the southern nations, as traveling by land is always slower than by sea. Should you be interested in this arrangement then reply to us, and we will send a representative to negotiate with you.

Caterina di Franco, Minister of trade for the Venetian Naval League

To: The Venetian Isles (morale: +)

The man seems to be perfectly at ease, despite being unarmed, unarmored, unsupplied, and without a means of trasportation.
I have come merely to make an offer. The Emperor has recently laid His claim upon a port, and it has been secured. We would establish lines of trade through this port to yours.

Additionally, if you would hear it, we would offer a pact of mutual defense."

To: The Deep Trolls (secure communication)

You follow the path to the Emperor easily, coming to the capitol of Patria. It is built entirely of marble, gilt with silver and gold. At the center of the city stands the Emperor's palace, from which the golden light is emitted.

At no point is your path impeded, and the citizens can even be seen to make way for you. The palace doors are open, allowing you direct access to the Emperor.

Within the throne room, you find Him. As He opens His eyes, revealing endless grey throughout, the glow fades, and He is revealed. The Emperor of old, from a time long lost to myth.

"Welcome, Friend of Old, to this White City. It is indeed good to see you again, in this age.

I am told that you wish to renew the friendship which we shared so long ago. If so, then I would propose the same treaty as we shared in those times, that the citizens of each of our nations should be allowed to travel freely within the other's domain, that traders should find open markets within any place where the other's traders may do business, and that we should aid each other in times of hardship and war.

If it should please thee, our friendship shall blossom anew."

to the Risen Empire

Antonio looks at the man in front of him, and noting his lack of fear deduces that he is likely a mage of some kind. Looking at the man he says in a reserved tone Although the Venetian Isles are always open to more trade, I must ask what empire do you represent? Until recently we have dealt mainly with the western nations, and are unfamiliar with the Emperor you represent. Should he be a legitimate power we will graciously accept your offers of trade relations.

As for the mutual defense pact that will require more consideration. Our nation is mainly naval based, and cannot provide many armed forces for a land war. So we would need to specify exactly what the contract says. We would also need to know the current state of diplomatic relations that your empire has with the surrounding nations. If we are to enter a mutual defense agreement we would like to know what we are getting into.

Saying this he motions to one of his guards and says Bring me Caterina and Caravello. They should be here for these negotiations.

A ship bearing the official colors of the Venetian Isles pulls into a Harmonium Port. The diplomatic representative aboard asks to be escorted to someone he will be able to negotiate with.

He comes bearing the following treaty

{this is a summary of the intent, not the legal text. Also anything in {} means OOC notes}

By signing this treaty both the Harmonium Empire and the Venetian Isles agree to the following conditions.

1. To take no actions to impede the flow of trade between each other

2. To lower tariffs between merchants representing the other party

3. Any new territories acquired by either party shall have the same conditions apply, as apply to the main nation.

4. Neither nation shall take action against the other to prevent trade with any third party nation, regardless of the signatory nations opinions of the third party.

5. Should another nation attempt to disrupt the trade of either signatory without a formal declaration of war the other signatory nation shall assist in maintaining the trade routes. {not a key selling point, can be negotiated away if the harmonium dislike it}

6. For the duration of this treaty the signatory nations agree to partake in no aggressive action against the other party. {also negotiable. Harmonium might want to negotiate non-aggression separately}

7. Either party may terminate the treaty should they desire, however they must pay a sum of money to the other party {++ econ, temp}

The Venetian Isles agrees to the following conditions as well as the above

1. To use their naval power to assist the Harmonium in protecting trade routes {+ navy to start, but negotiations might bring it higher or lower depending on harmonium desires}. The Venetian Isles reserve the right to withdraw these fleet elements should they become engaged in a war.

2. A signing bonus of + econ {temp} shall be provided to the Harmonium Empire as a gesture of Goodwill.

The Harmonium Empire agrees to the following conditions in addition to the both nations conditions.

1. The empire acknowledges the Venetian Isles claim to any colonies that are founded while this treaty is in effect.

{all points negotiable to some extent, but the ones I have highlighted, are the ones I am less attached to.}

OOC

The ambassadors to the other nations will take longer to get there as the nations are farther away (aka. I'm being lazy and will write their stuff later today).

5. The nations shall undertake no efforts to put up any new trade barriers towards the other signatory nations, and shall not encourage other nations to do so.

6. If the contract must be canceled at a later date the one who initiates this separation is entitled to compensation in the amount of {+++ + temp econ, delivered over the course of 2 turns}

7. agree to the temporary suspension of the treaties obligations in the event of a war, contingent on informing the other party of the war, its reasons for existing, and what conditions they are not going to fulfill.

This is considered a draft version, and the Representative we have sent has the authority to negotiate the terms contained within this treaty.

To the Zexan Consortium:
Greetings to you, merchants of Faluna,

We of the Jack Collective, as you well know, have a bit of a lacking trade network. As such, your aid would greatly benefit us in expanding this, and we can offer you something that will aid you in turn. What we deal in is information, and if traders like you had insider information regarding what other nations required, you could make a hefty profit. If such a deal interests you, we gladly welcome discussion as to further details. Otherwise... Well, we don't have much else to offer, I'm sorry to say.

Good luck to you, whatever your decision.
-Jack 35

To the Dwarven Alliance:
Hail to you, Stone Kings,

We of the Collective have heard many tales of the superb craftsmanship of your people and have an interest in trading for such arms and armor for our forces. It is well known of your distaste for the Harmonium Empire. Maybe we can arrange a trade regarding that. We feed you what information we can find on their actions, and in return you equip our armies? Or, if we can find the available funds, we can pay from our coffers instead.

The exact details can be elaborated on at a later point. We just are seeing if you have any interest in such a deal.
-Jack 35

To the Laranese Gnomes:
We have heard from our sources that you are developing airships for the Rozarian Empire. Would it be possible to arrange a deal where the Collective could obtain a similar vehicle? Or possibly the technology requisite to develop one?

If you have any interest in something our intelligence services can obtain, or in a more concrete form of payment, we can discuss the details.

About 523,173 years ago, there was the 5th hell invasion. It started because of a young idiot who wanted power fast started delving into the spirt world. He found power all right. At first, he could control it. He even tought it to students over a period of about 500 years. Of course our cousins brought the doom down on themselves. Because one day, "their" power surged out of control and they were subsumed by it. And what did they do? They ripped open massive portals to hell. Imagine a war that lasts over 50,000 years. Our hold never fell, but our cousins, either they sold themselves to hell, or they turned to even darker powers of the grave itself. As it began in a single night, it ended in a single day. The jaws of hell were slamed shut by the High Thane, and he killed every last hellspawn on the contenit. But the years between the opening and the closing, we don't speak of them. Morale 3

To the corrupted (But anyone can read)

The Lament of Ashes

Old were the forests,
Long had the moutains stood vigil,
Where the three kindred walked,
Children of the song.

In the woodlands fair,
The Aeoals'kivlr,
Wise and blessed,
World song in veins.

On the highest peaks,
Did the Joln'toh-or stand,
Their watch unending,
Their honor unbreaking.

In the deepest reachs,
The Grim'volskarm,
Forged the tools of old,
And understood the song best.

But in the shade,
of the great trees,
one sought songs
that were not ment to be.

Yol'niols-hur,
Great of mind and will,
sought where no others went,
the cold grey fields.

And there he found a new song,
A pit of flaming shadows,
Power to shape new songs,
whispered the shadowy flame.

And so he agreed,
To the pact primevil,
and wove a new song,
not yet done.

And when he returned,
All could see,
A new song was whispering,
smoke in the woodlands.

He gathered his freinds,
And he taught them,
The songs of Ash and Shadow,
Of Binding and Power.

And for a short while,
A mere half a thousand years,
Blance was kept,
And the choking ash held at bay.

But one night,
The song grew to a roar,
And the Binder became the bound,
And the Pit of Ash laughed.

Driven by Fury,
Driven by Pain,
They tore the world song asunder,
And let the Ashen legion in.

Burning was their song,
No balance,
Patient Domination,
Swift conquest.

But ash broke on the peaks,
As they would not yield,
even as the woodlands,
swore to darkness or ash.

The Toh-or never faltered,
Duty was clear as glass,
And Demons broke on the peaks,
Till the lords of Ash came.

Bealrog and Balor,
Pit Fiend and Ultraloth,
Dark Vulkj all,
And sorely did they contest.

And from the deeps,
The Grim came forth,
Weilding blades of deep caft,
And hidden song.

Elokijh The Bealrog,
Niuhhgug The Balor,
Asemodus Of the Pit,
Yul'uiln of the Grey Ash.

The captins of the host,
clashed with the Jarls,
And our Thanes,
Till only the Dealmaker was left.

Sweeping all before him,
On a tide of ash,
And temptation,
The day grew dark with Hellfire.

But the day was not lost,
For Doom entered the Fray,
Father of Trolls,
Smith of Worlds.

The High Thane brought
The Deepest of Songs,
And smote the ruby Devil,
And sent him bleeding to fall back to hell.

Then turning to those,
That still came,
Sang the Songs of Planes,
And threw them down.

Then looking at the holes,
Forged them shut,
And sang new walls between,
To keep the Ash at bay.

The Aeoals'kivlr were lost,
Now belonging to ash,
Or the Grey Fields,
Forever sworn and bound.

Our lost kindrend we hear,
Through the echos of Song,
Hulashnim-Hur Ashen betrayers,
Shasul'miun-Tul Darkened in fear.

The woodlands of the young world,
Forever ashes,
Young hills not yet mountains,
Frozen glass.

We mourn for the world,
And the sorrows wrought,
For the Kindred lost,
And the ashes that remain.

To the Venetian Isles

The Venetian Naval League is interested in expanding its trade relations with the other coastal and island nations in the world, and with you opening up a new port you certainly qualify. In fact you would be much more beneficial than most as you possess technology to rival the gnomes. What I propose is that we sign a treaty to start trade relations as soon as the port is completed. A clerk is drafting it as we speak, however there are a few key points. The first is that tariffs be nonexistant between our two nations, in order to ensure a rapid economic expansion. We would also like to arrange for the future possibilities of technology transfer. That would of course be negotiated in detail later, however some ground rules for later would be helpful. To the Deep Troll ambassador

I am glad that you like our offer. The treaty should be here in a few moments.

After a few moments a clerk arrives with a treaty in hand. Caterina takes if from him and saysThis is the treaty with basically what we discussed. The wording will be different, and there will be some secondary clauses that we haven't discussed yet due to the rushed nature of these talks. Keep in mind that this is a first draft, and as such the points contained within are negotiable if disagreeable to you.

She then presents the treaty to the ambasator. It says the following

Both nations signing this treaty agree to the following

1. To lower barriers to trade, and otherwise allow for the easy flow of good with the other signatory nation.

2. To do their best to stop troubles concerning their nation from disrupting trade. Exceptions for outright war.

3. As best as the signatory nations are able they will attempt to protect trade routes from pirates, and other bodies that would disrupt the flow of trade.

4. Should an officially recognized nation attempt to disrupt trade the signatory nations will both attempt to get rid of this pressure as best as they are able, short of war.

5. The nations shall undertake no efforts to put up any new trade barriers towards the other signatory nations, and shall not encourage other nations to do so.

6. agree to the temporary suspension of the treaties obligations in the event of a war, contingent on informing the other party of the war, its reasons for existing, and what conditions they are not going to fulfill.

The Venetian Isles also agree to the following
7. If the contract must be canceled at a later date at the request of the Venetian Isles the Trolls are entitled to compensation in the amount of {+++ + temp econ, delivered over the course of 2 turns}

The Trolls also agree to the following
8. If the contract must be canceled at a later date at the request of the Trolls the Venetian Isles will be compensated by the gift of technology from the Trolls. Unless both parties agree upon different technology this technology shall have the purpose of upgrading the Venetian Navy. {basically a tech worth +- Navy or greater}

To the deep trolls railroad message

While the Venetian Isles are interested in continuing trade with other nations we do not see how a railway could be built to our nation as we are currently Island based. If you have a solution to this problem present it to us ans we will look it over. Should you be able to do this we still have a few concerns. Basically we rely on our Navy to defend our islands and a land/underground route would negate our Defensive tactics. Please provide more detail in your offer.

To the Consortium [PM]

In the terms of the presented treaty there was nothing about a non aggression pact of anything similar. This treaty is solely about trade. The treaty only mentions war in 6. and even that says nothing of the sort. The intent of that section is that should one of our nations end up in a war for one reason or another they shall be able to suspend their obligations temporarily. This is to leave our parties with a free hand should we need to take measures on our own during a war. So now that this is clarified will you accept the treaty as it stands? or are there any changes you would make?

Caterina di Franco seems unsurprised by the Troll's move to take the treaty to the council. Feel free to take the treaty to your leaders for consideration she says as she hands it to the Troll. Although we prefer explicit treaties we are more than willing to have a more vague one should it open trade relations with you. That being said we must insist on some form of penalty for canceling the treaty without mutual agreement. The amount and form may be changed, however its existance is non-negotiable. Although we are sure you would not do so the possibility of someone pulling out of a vital contract without allowing the other party some compensation to readjust the economy is not something we will allow. It is merely a standard thing for our economic contracts, and is not intended as a slight against you.

That should be able to combat the Empire in a ground war... What about naval forces? The only three nations capable of rivaling them at sea would be the Venetians, the Isle of Dhevan, and the Queendom of Faluna, none of which we expect to be easy to convince. Venetians are negotiating trade agreements with the Harmonium as we speak, the Queendom wants peace, and the Isle wants to stay off on their own... Dhevan would probably be the easiest, Queendom the second, Venetians the most difficult. The Collective may be able to improve our own fleet, but that will take time, and letting the Harmonium consolidate their holdings is bad for everyone.

We'll communicate with other groups who have reasons to dislike the Empire in the meantime. Hopefully we can get a coalition together. If we do that, we may be able to strong arm the Venetians into joining us. Especially if we convince another naval power. They are providing trade, and those funds will be used against us...

In addition, I feel its wise to mention that there is a possibility of the Harmonium discovering the Collective's efforts to scout out their intelligence networks. In that case... Things may change. Possibly we can play our efforts off as scoping the field for a potential ally in the covert fields, and try to act as a double agent with them. Or we are eradicated. We'll see.

To the Risen Empire

I think I remember you from a diplomatic briefing a while back. You are the empire ruled by the angel or something. The Venetian Naval League would be very interested in establishing free trade with the Empire. Additionally due to your arrival we assume that your nation is somewhat skilled in magic. We would be interested in learning these magics. As to the mutual defense, well we will need more info. We are primarily a Naval nation, and you are primarily based on land. The problem this poses is that should a war break out we would have trouble helping each other. Do you have a method of alleviating this problem?

He then motions for an aide of his to have a scribe make a treaty. When It arrives it says the following.

7. If the contract must be canceled at a later date at the request of the Venetian Isles the Empire is entitled to compensation in the amount of {++ temp econ, delivered over the course of 2 turns}

The Empire also agree to the following
8. If the contract must be canceled at a later date at the request of the Empire the Venetian Isles will be compensated by payment that is the equivalent of {++ temp econ, delivered over 2 turns}

And, as always for us, the reward lies in the making. May the friendship between our peoples last till the the gates of time crack."
OOC; The reason for turning down your blade wasn't a petty one. It's taboo for them to acept a item thats so strongly attuned to a people or person unless it's for safe keeping, and always to be returned later. "If a foe should attack you, you would have some difficulty counter-attacking due that lack of non-naval forces, would you not? We would face a similar problem if confronted by a naval enemy. If we were to make it known that an attack on one of us would mean a war with the other, this imbalance of forces which we both seem to possess would likely be counterbalanced, allowing for an effective counter-attack against the aggressor. That would likely cause at least some additional consideration as to whether a potential victim could successfully counter-attack.

If that is not sufficient, then we will not press the issue.

As for the treaty...<the man pauses to read it carefully>...while I approve of this treaty in spirit, I'm afraid that in its execution this treaty might be considered unbalanced. In particular, I feel that the ninth term is rather unrelated to the goal of opening trade, and is not counterbalanced. I would be willing to negotiate something of that form separately from this treaty, but not as a rider for our agreement of trade.

If this treaty were signed, some might see it as the Empire admitting to having an inferior position within our relations, due to the treaty favoring the Venetian Isles, something that would likely be ill-recieved elsewhere. If the ninth term were removed, I would gladly sign this, but until then I'm afraid that such is not possible."

To: The Deep Trolls [PM]
"It is good to find that, despite the passage of millenia, you have not changed, though I must insist upon giving you something, at least. Call it vanity, but I would rather not have a guest leave with less than was brought. If not a token, then perhaps I can at least offer a unique experience."
As the Emperor sets His blade down upon the floor, the marble at the front of the room begins to slide aside, revealing a open to the sky. At the far end of the courtyard rests an opened gateway of black ivory. Beyond it is an endless expanse of grey unmarred by color. The abillity to evacuate quicker, deploy troops to the battlefront faster and you can save more lives by reducing the time needed to carry them to a healer. The Corrupted Morale: +++++ +

To the Dwarves, Mountain Giants, and Fire Giants
I think that we should definitely bring war to the Harmonium Empire soon. The Queendom of Falona has contributed a large amount of temp economy, which we can use to purchase mercenaries. From what we have gathered and deduced, this is our general outlook in the situation:
+++++ +++ mil from the fire and mountain giants.
+++++ +++ mil from the Corrupted
+++++ mil from the dwarves
However, we are currently low on navy. We Corrupted would be willing to contribute +- navy, but it something we should likely spend most of the temp econ on.
Now, to decide on the temp econ.
I'd like to have a bit more mil, and at a rate of 2 mil for each temp econ we spend we'd only need to spend something like ++ temp econ on these mercenaries (giving us ++++ mil). The rest we could spend on ships, hiring both the hellraisers and any other mercenary ships we could afford.
So, to total things up, we will have +++++ +++++ +++++ +++++ +++++, and hopefully enough navy (as we are unsure how much navy we'll be able to hire). With this overwhelming force, I think we should march ASAP, to not let the Harmonium Empire grow stronger.
I would also request that we do not accept additional nations into this coalition: we have enough and more people would do nothing but result in less spoils for each of us. However, if anything in the plan seems bad, please do not hesitate to raise that point. Otherwise, I will assume that you accept it and that we shall march against the Harmonium Empire [at EOT]
TO BATTLE!

To the Hell Raisers
We would like to hire ++ temp econ worth of mil (++++ mil) and the ++++ navy you have. Could you tell us what the full price will be?

Yes, the expedition has been a success. We have found several locations that would appear to be potential colony locations. They promise to greatly increase our prestige as a nation. I reccommend we work on colonizing these islands immediately.

To the people of Bhujibarba
We would offer the lands of the corrupted as a temporary home to you displaced citizens. Many nations respect us ((We have pretty high WO)) and our fortified borders offer you all the safety you need to slowly rebuild. We understand that not all of you may want to come to us, but know that any who do will be accepted completely.
To the Venetian Isles and the Isle of Dhevan
We thank you for your work in eradicating the pirates, and we hope it ushers in a new era of peaceful voyages in the continent.
To the Deep Trolls
We hope you received the ++- temp econ we contributed to the rail line, and ask if you need any more to get things running. We are eager to join in the trade it will bring.
To the Coalition
Success follows success. We've now crushed them both on land, and on sea. We, together, have taken what was the strongest power on this continent and emerged victorious. We have shown the world that, banding together, we can defeat even those who would seem invincible. Oh, what we have done working together.
Now, as the war draws nearer and nearer to the seemingly inevitable end, we must decide how we will go forward. Pushing towards their home continent, likely very well defended, seems an unwise decision. However, that does not mean this alliance need be in vain. I propose that we all sign a defensive alliance: promising aid if any one of us is attacked by a foreign aggressor. If their is conflict among us, we can sort it out in civilized debate; and not quickly progress into war. This alliance would also prevent any opportunistic countries from striking while we are weakened by war, as our combined strength could fend them off.

The Emperor Protects

Patria. A land without want, where the citizens need not concern themselves with the needs of the flesh, and for whom even death is nearly forgotten. Some might call it paradise. Others, usually those who aren't citizens, would call it a hive of undeath and endless decadence. The halls of marble, endless gold filigree and silver settings, and practically never-ending displays of wealth do little to sway the discussion.

Occasionally, however, such a place will come under threat. Perhaps due to a foreign power, or perhaps due to magical forces. In such times, it is the duty of the government to defend the people. So it is for Patria. Upon the discovery of demonic forces within a neighbouring nation, it is decided that they should be removed, lest they come to threaten the lands of the Empire.

So it is that the legions are called forth, clad in shining steel wrapped in wire of gold. And so it is that they assemble, citizen by citizen, century by century, cohort by cohort, until a host of 15000 men stand ready to march. Two and a half legions wait, knowing that though they are but a shadow of the armies which once marched across the world. They wait upon the command of their Emperor, the one by whom Patria has risen once more.

And so it is that the Emperor comes, clad in what seems to be shining gold, to lead the army forward.

Still, against the demons which had assaulted the world so many times before, a host such as this would not suffice. And so the Emperor turned, and drew His blade. By it, the Emperor called upon the Blade of Patria; the legions which had served it so long ago, to serve as His blade in this time of struggle.

When the Emperor should call, none shall limit His power. Even the grave is no bar to His call. And so the gates of death are opened, and the legions of Patria step forth into the realm of the living once more, though only for a short time.

Legion by Legion, Host by Host, the armies of Patria gather, until the Honored Host should carry the number of fifteen legions, to march alongside the armies of Patria reborn. At this time, the Emperor turned His blade to the south, and so His blade marches to give aid in battle against the armies of the burning pit.

And for the sake of defense, they will have the funds to hire the Hellraisers in case our situation gets any worse.

"Welcome my friends. Let's get right down to it. The world has become much more dangerous with the creation of the Reforged Kingdom, and their absorbing of many of the smaller powers of the continent. While they have taken a diplomatic approach to this acquisition of strength, their past as the Corrupted makes me view their rise as dangerous. These are people who traded away their humanity for power. They attempted to extort the Vale of their wealth not too long ago. I do not trust them, no matter how many conflicts the Collective fights alongside them.

As such, we have a desire to find friends who feel the same and have a need for mutual defense. Which is why I have called the two of you here. We would like to propose an alliance between the three of us. In case of war, we will assist one another, myself with my armies, the both of you with funds necessary to hire the Hellraisers and aid in recouping fallen battalions. In peacetime, we can aid each other in building our militaries and navies to be capable of protecting ourselves from the Kingdom as well as the power bloc of the Risen, Isle of Dhevan, and the Venetians, all while seeking out others who would be willing to join our alliance. Would either of you be interested in such a arrangement?"

to Risen Empire

With the recent developments our alliance is becoming one of the major power groups in the world. However recently Dhevan has been planning an invasion of the continents. Particularly Faluna. They have already asked for our aid, and will likely ask for yours shortly. Our nation is averse to a land based war, and as such would prefer to not get involved. We can see several possible avenues to increase our holdings without war, and would like to pursue those. We would like to know your position on this.

Despite our recent build-ups you would remain the primary land power in the alliance. Although Faluna would fall relatively easily once its navy falls this war of blatant aggression would likely draw in other nations, maybe even the reforged kingdom. As such your armies will be necessary should we support Dhevan. Thus finding out your position is crucial if we are to establish our own position.

Should you not want to join the war then we will also stay out (if you join this is no guarantee we will do so, unless we state otherwise later). However in this situation we would need to deal with an angry Dhevan and the possibility of fracturing the alliance.

So what do you plan to do with this situation?

It would seem likely that some nations will have intercepted the most recent communication, and will thus be acting with that knowledge.

To: The Queendom of Faluna [+++++ ++]

It has come to our attention that a the Isle of Devan is looking to invade these lands. In particular, they seem to be targeting yours. Through proxy, they have asked us to join the war on their side.

Instead, we would rather offer you terms to become a protectorate.

Defined terms:
Protectorate: The Queendom of Faluna
Protector: The Risen Empire

1.) The protectorate's state and sovereignty will be guaranteed by the protector.

2.) If a third party should attack the protectorate, the protector will be considered to have been attacked as well.

3.) If a third party should declare war upon the protectorate, then the declaration of war shall extend to the protector.

4.) In exchange for these services, the protectorate shall offer, without reservation or fee, the services of any magi, spellcasters, arcanists, or other magic users within its service, until such time as the treaty is dissolved.

5.) The dissolution of this treaty is to be considered a declaration of war between the signatories.

Those terms are negotiable, if you happen to find them to be too onerous, but we feel that they are fair to both parties. The choice is yous.

To the Zexan/Vale (PM)
Zexans, by pledging economic support do you mean you'll give funds in case of war? That would be acceptable to us. Part of the reason I've brought you two specifically here is because I'm afraid for your safety. I mean no offense, but you each are a rather tempting target for rogue nations seeking a quick profit. The Corrupted actually approached me with a plan, mentioning the two of you or the Venetians as possible targets for such a raid, albeit long ago,

So, if the Consortium does not wish to become militarily involved in a war of mine, I understand. However, for the sake of preventing a power from plotting against the both of you, I'd appreciate it if we publicly announced some form of alliance between the three of us. It could be passed off as a Free Trade Agreement, if you wish.

OOC: I will refer to it as the Trade Federation, because I find that mildly amusing.

As well, my spies have informed me that the Isle of Dhevan is planning an invasion of the Queendom. I have extended an offer to them to join this alliance for both their own protection, and to prevent the Risen Empire or the Reforged Kingdom from gaining their support. I also plan on offering membership to the Deep Trolls. As the operators of the rail lines, they have a large part to play in the economy of the continent, and their technology could give us greater ability to defend ourselves.

Is there anything more we need to discuss? If not, I request we wait for a response from the Queendom and the Deep Trolls before adjourning this meeting.

To the Queendom of Faluna (+++++ ++)
As you have no doubt been informed, the Isle of Dhevan plots to invade your lands. We are also aware of offers by the Risen Empire and the Reforged Kingdom to enter into an alliance of some sort with yourself for your own protection. The Collective would like to offer ourselves as a more optimal alternative. The Risen demand full use of your entire order of mages, and the Reforged Kingdom cannot be trusted. They have assimilated a large amount of power in recent months and now will undoubtedly turn their focus to acquiring more. These are people who attempted to extort 50% of the Vale's production under threat of violence. Now, admittedly, that threat did occur before the Corrupted became the Kingdom, but I do not believe they have changed much. After all, the Corrupted were soldiers who gave up their humanity, the Laranese arms dealers, and the Giants and Dwarves war-like powers. They are not a peaceful group.

As such, the Collective offers you a place among ourselves, the Vale, and (to some degree, due to their neutrality) the Zexans as a defensive alliance to protect all of our sovereignty as well as promoting trade between us. No demands or requirements aside from aiding each other in case of war, and promoting commerce in what ways you can.

-Jack 35

To the Deep Trolls (+++++)
Ironborn,

The Collective would like to ask you what your current standing is in the political climate. Will you remain a neutral nation or do you plan on joining an alliance of powers? If you are interested, we have a place for you in the defensive alliance of ourselves and the Vale, with the Zexans as partial members. We have also extended the offer to the Queendom due to recent events you are surely aware of. Considering you are the operators of the rail ways, you are rather integral to preserving and promoting trade as well as peace on the continent, something all of us are interested in.

If you'd rather maintain neutrality, we simply request you remain wary. There are very few fully independent powers out there, and others will be aiming to exploit them to further their own desires. We'd rather that not happen to anyone, especially you. We've fought and died together too often for a power-hungry nation to consume you.

Hmm... That last messenger was given orders to be more discreet. He will be punished severely when he gets back. Given this breech in information security we will be staying out of the probable conflict. We never saw much reason to begin with, so now that they will be prepared we have even less reason to join.

To Faluna [PM]

A messenger from the Isles shows up at Faluna bearing the following message:

By now I assume you are aware of the recent political developments. Should you not be I will sum it up quickly. Dhevan recently approached us about going to war with you. We then approached the Risen Kingdom to inquire about their position as they are a part of our defensive alliance with Dhevan. This is where the leak happened. We figured that we would give you our view and position on the events that happened beyond what you likely already know.

The first thing you should know is that the leak was intentional. We wouldn't forget to take the necessary precautions when dealing with information of that magnitude, unless by choice. Simply put our alliance with Dhevan was one of convenience, and due to their isolationism we didn't expect this to happen when it was made. When they stated that they wanted to conquor you we were quite shocked, but due to our ties there was no easy way to say no. With the info leaked we have a plausible excuse to not participate.

We do not like those who make war simply for conquest, and given an opportunity like this we decided that stopping this war would be a good thing to do.

Given this it is unlikely that any further alliances with Dhevan will be unlikely to succeed. As such our navy although strong may not be strong enough. We would wish to cultivate ties with you over Dhevan as you seem more peaceful. It seems unlikely that Dhevan will attack now that the plans are out, however should they do so we would much rather have friendship with you then Dhevan. Should they continue with their plans we will be in further contact.

To Reforged Kingdom [PM]

A Messenger appears in the Reforged Kingdom bearing the following message.

By now you should know about the political events involving Dhevan. If not then to sum up: Dhevan wants war with Faluna. They asked us for help. We contacted the risen Empire, and there was a communications leak.

Simply put the leak was intentional. We are a peaceful nation, and the alliance was made to be purely defensive in nature. However when Dhevan wanted a war based solely on conquest we could not stand by and just let that slaughter happen. A communications leak followed by discreet messages to major players seemed like out best option. As you are one of the largest major players we wish to make our position clear. We were in no way actually considering actually going to war with Faluna. Should Dhevan do so they will not have us by their side. They are currently being briefed on the situation as we speak.

Should Dhevan attack (which seems unlikely now) it seems likely that a coalition would be against them, however with their Naval strength they would be hard to reach. Should the slaughter become necessary, contact us and we will see if we can ease the passing of Dhevan, as we would not like to be associated as standing with a nation that conquers solely based on conquest.

In addition, I also plan to offer a place in this Federation to the Theocracy, and possibly the Rozarian Empire. Their actions this past season seem to indicate they expecting war with the Reforged. I would rather not have their first action coming out of isolation be hostile. Especially against the power of the Kingdom. I feel that they may not survive that...

Additionally a quick question. Do the Risen have the Staff of the Magi? So that we have a better idea of what our opposing blocs of power have access to.

To the Nagarean Theocracy (+++++ ++-)
Greetings,

The Collective would like to extend to you an offer to join ourselves, the Queendom, the Vale, and the Consortium as members of the Trade Federation, a defensive military alliance that also seeks to promote commerce among its members. To be honest, the primary reason that we began this alliance was due to the founding of the Reforged Kingdom and their rapid consumption of their former allies. They are not a peaceful people. A union of arms-dealers, demon spawn soldiers who traded away their humanity, barbaric tribes of giants, and weaponsmiths is not going to magically turn into a benevolent power, no matter their stated goals.

As such, we are concerned for the safety of all the sovereign nations of this continent, and we hope to unify those who are opposed to the Kingdom (and not currently in their own alliance, as the Isle of Dhevan, Risen Empire, and Venetians are) for the sake of all our protection as well as to discourage the Reforged from taking any hostile actions against non-members.

Would you be interested in joining us in preventing the Kingdom from acquiring even greater power?

Greetings to the Rozarian,

We are the Jack Collective and wish to open talks with you. Based on your recent military exercises along your border with the Reforged Kingdom, we would assume that you are expecting a war with them. Might we suggest an alternative? Instead of taking an aggressive action immediately from your current isolation, which will probably sour the nations of the continents opinions of you, you could take a more diplomatic approach. Ease into the political scene and slowly begin to form relations with your neighbors, earning their good will. Or, if not good will, at least a working relationship. Having friends can go a long way.

In that spirit, we would like to offer you a place in the Trade Federation. It consists of ourselves, the Queendom of Faluna, the Zexan Consortium, and the Vale. With our connections, we can help introduce your people into the international economy and community, and give you allies who will fight beside you if a power invades. It is solely a defensive military alliance however, and one of the stipulations of joining would be that you cannot wage a war against someone on your own discretion. If you feel that such an action is necessary, we can convene a private meeting to discuss the Federation's course of action.

-Jack 35

To the Reforged Kingdom / Trade Federation (Probably both myself and the GM for these communications. It's a democratically run alliance, so all members have an equal vote. Morale ++++)
To clarify, the Federation's intention in building such a colony is not to spearhead an invasion. The purpose of it is to serve as an advanced warning post in case the Harmonium decide to retake their colonial holdings here on our lands. If they do launch such an attack, with this base we have the capability of both intercepting it, as well as the ability to launch a counter attack if the Federation deems it an appropriate response. If the Harmonium have peaceful intentions, however, the port will serve as a refuel point in trade routes.

We took the initiative to build the colony because we, or at the least the Collective, feared the armored men may have been agents of the Empire. While it would appear that this is not correct, we still feel the colony is a necessary precaution against a power that this continent has fought in the past. If threat of invasion appears imminent, we will accept the aid of anyone willing to help against the Harmonium, especially those we have fought beside before. If the threat never materializes, we will use the base for peaceful purposes. This alliance is intended to promote trade as well as protect its members after all.

On a hopefully unrelated note, it would seem likely that a foreign power has committed an undeclared act of war against the Isle of Dhevan, which would invoke the second term of the defensive pact existing between the three of us.

We will be sending agents to determine precisely who, if anyone, is responsible. It seems likely that war will follow.

We hereby serve notice that, due to the apparent undeclared act of war against the government of the Isle of Dhevan, clause two of the defensive pact between the Isle of Dhevan, the Venetian Isles, and the Risen Empire has been invoked. You have ousted the king that has been an Ally of the Isles? HOW DARE YOU DO SUCH A THING! Invoking the terms of the defensive treaty made with the Isle of Dhevan we hereby declare war upon the usurpers, with the intent to restore the prior king.

To Reforged Kingdom and Risen Empire [PM]

We will of course co-operate and help oust this dictator and petty tyrant from his seat. We would appreciate of course if you would include us in your military discussions.

We will no longer be providing transport to the risen Empire as our full Naval might will be required against Dhevan.

We can provide +++++ +++++ + Navy and ++++- Army for this war. How much can you provide? We will of course be willing to transport your Army.

We propose we begin in {1 turn, end of or mid turn next turn[not this one]} when all of our armies/navies have been readied. We will be devoting our full available economy to Army and Naval Production in the meantime.

There is one other issue that needs to be spoken of however. The current King is currently no where to be found, although we would offer asylum if we could. While resuming the prior government is of course the ideal solution we need to face the fact that that may not be possible. Should no heir come forward when we are victorious then we need to decide what to do with the isle. (Also we should contact Jack to see if he knows where the king is).

Anarchy is impossible as we will just repeat the current problem. Similarly an illegitimate ruler will fail. A democracy or republic like we have would fail due to the sudden upheaval and the populace being unfamiliar with the idea. Should no other worthwhile solutions be offered and the king and his line in fact be lost we will offer the people a vote on whether they want to join the Isles. should a majority say yes we will accept them into our nation. This has the added benefit of our large economy being used to rebuild their island from the war's probable devastation. Also the Republic we have would have a sense of legitimacy as we have been a relatively powerful government for a long time. Additionally as another Island nation we would be very familiar with the needs of their nation, and the lack of culture shock would ease the transition. We do not want to appear selfish however, so are there any other solutions to this problem we have overlooked?

Also are there any other nations we should talk to? I would recommend Faluna for their Navy if not for the outstanding problems with the nations. If they were to be unified with us that might work. I will however hold off on contacting them until we have decided if that is a viable option.

A magical strength of that magnitude will surely do much to the usurpers, but will that cause much collateral damage? We want the island intact and restored, not a smoking crater. However if you think it is wise we will wait until after that to launch an invasion, depending on the effectiveness that the attack demonstrates. Similarly if we can hit at the same time as the attack on the strange men's enemies than we could deprive them of reinforcements. How about an invasion in 24 weeks {EOT turn after this one}? However if the Reforged are to attack the mainland we are unlikely to be capable of retaking the mainland on our own, due to our army size. Does anyone have any idea of Dhevan's military ability? and is anyone willing to provide forces for the island stage of the offensive?

We can provide 11 Navy, and 4.5 Army, and 3 magic to this offensive, plus whatever we can build leading up to the invasion. We would prefer at least 16 Navy and 10 army to attack, although more would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime we will focus on building Navy as Dhevan is one of the major Naval nations, and the usurpers likely captured that.

20 Magic could likely ensure the invasion is a success depending on its use. Summons would be more useful than bombardment as they would cause less collateral. Plus if we win the naval battle we can just bombard them from sea. It is the soldiers we need to worry about.

And should the king or an heir not be found is everyone fine if we offer the people of Dhevan entrance into the Venetian Naval League?

It is indeed likely that we will retake the Isles, however we have a problem. Splitting the magic seems good, as it is unlikely that dhevan has too many troops. However we still have the issues of the possible Naval and army deficiency on this end of the invasion. While a buildup of the navy to nessesary proportions is likely possible we will not be able to build up a large enough army in time on our own. The navies of the other nations can largely be transferred to the mainland for transport ships, as the small navy left after the coup will not stand before our Navy. Should they want to stay attacking Dhevan the bombardment would certainly be helpful however.

We also need to decide how to allocate the Federation's generous donation (econ) the simplest thing to do would be to hire mercs so that they could help with the mainland invasion (absolutely overwhelming force is always good.)? does anyone have any other options?

With the magic of the risen empire (and our own limited skill) we should have enough of an advantage to win the war quickly.

We should have input on when to attack. I recommend attacking in {EOT this turn} as we do not want a change in the Dhevan situation. the mainland attack we are however unsure of, as we have as yet no reliable information about what will be faced. Well, with the strange men's forces it looks like the mainland invasion will likely succeed, however that still leaves the puppet master that caused these revolutions. After the war we need to devote resources to finding out who actually caused this. The Isles don't have much of an espionage network, and we'll likely be rebuilding Dhevan, so we won't be too much help. Although if we could find any competent freelance spies we might be able to hire a few.

To the Coalition (PM):
The Collective will divert our spy networks this season to the mainland conflict, so as to counter their own sizable agencies. As well as searching for the King of Dhevan. Since we're unsure as to the intelligence capabilities of those on the Isle, the Collective feels that the Strange Men's spies should be sent there to aid in counter-intelligence operations. Once the false revolts are put down, we can look into finding the puppet masters. Is eliminating them a goal of this Coalition?

We will lend our own +++++ esp to these operations. I feel as if our policy in regards to the puppet masters should be decided once this operation is over, and we know who or what they are.

Indeed we should wait until we get more information before we make any sudden moves with regard to the puppet masters. We might not even be capable of making overt moves depending on who they are. That being said, we should certainly make preparations, as them being friendly seems unlikely.

Also I would like confirmation on both the risen empire's role, and a general vote on when the invasion should take place. I vote {EOT this turn}.

Alcinus had been silent for a long time, seeming to be listening for something. The silence ends with a nod, apparently to himself.

"Many apologies for the delay of this message.

The rituals preceding our magical attack have already begun. We can attempt to divert them, though the consequences of such are uncertain.

As for the date, we would ask that the invasion force refrain from landing until the magical assault has concluded, due to the possibility of the attack mistakenly targeting the invading forces. Otherwise, the <EOT> should work.

We have +++ army and ++ navy available for operations.

If I've missed anything, then please ask.

A strange ritual [+++] (Patria internal)

The Cult of the Emperor has recently redoubled its activity, the redactors conducting strange rituals. The citizens are participating heartily, and with each repetition of the daily rituals they become longer and more intense.

As the rituals continue, the magi of Patria begin an altogether different ritual. Runes spread between their towers, and arcane energy can easily be felt in the air of Patria.

Given the focus of the risen Empire on Dhevan, the army and navy may as well go there. Federation support needs to be finalized (attack Dhevan or mainland). The army would be useful for Dhevan, while the Navy would be unnecessary for Dhevan. Econ could be used well in either invasion.

Yes we are willing to wait until after the magical attack.

Alcinus speaks one last time.

"The magical attack has begun. It should conclude in seven days time."

A strange ritual-conclusion[+++](Risen Empire internal)

The rituals have hit their peak. The air of Patria is saturated with magical energy, and it is being bound into a large golden ball by the magi. This sphere hangs directly over the Emperor's Palace, the beating heart of the Risen Empire. Finally, once the sphere has attained sufficient size after months of rituals, the Emperor rises from His throne.

Slowly, He ascends to the sphere. As He enters it, the sphere is absorbed, and its magical energies are made available to the Emperor. For seven days and seven nights the Emperor floats over His capitol, His light illuminating His empire as though He were the sun.

The Emperor's Attack on Dhevan[-](world event)

A sun column pierces through the overcast sky, seeming to push the clouds away from it. The column lands on the tower of Dhevan's foremost magister, and slowly begins to expand. Within a day, all of Dhevan is encapsulated within the column of light.

Those caught within the light report that they could feel their mind being surrounded by some kind of being. To quote one:

"I was suspended in a field of light. I was aware of numerous others nearby. My friends, my family, and my unit. I couldn't sense them, but I knew that they were there, and I could feel it when they were attacked, and destroyed. I do not know why I was spared, buy when I came to from that horrible void of light, I was surrounded by madmen that were once known to me."

After seven days, the attack ceases, and the column of light fades. The damage done, however, will last for years to come...

turn 8 begins

the battle of dhevan

the isle of dhevan was ripped apart by open fighting within the city streets as the people decided to rebel against the new goverment led by general agrean. it was during this rebellion that the magical might of the risen empire became apparent as thousands of minds shattered in an instant driving thousands insane, leading to widespread looting and rioting

on top of the rebellion and magical attack, the goverment faced even bigger problems as a large army and combined fleet of various nations took to storming the beaches and going up and over the walls of the city, quickly overwhelming what defenders remained sane.

the coalition didnt meet any organized resistance until the palace gates where the coalition leaders confronted general agrean, who had rallied his remaining men. the fighting was fierce and bloody, hundreds dying in minutes but eventually general agrean and his men succeeded in driving the armies back out of the palace. it remains to be seen what will happen next

mainland invasion

acting at the same time as the dhevanian invasion got underway, the massive army of the queendom of faluna and reforged kingdoms marched across the great eastern desert while at the same time a fleet of ships came up from the great river ninrir linking up with the main army at the fortified border town of danterale formally under the governance of the nijonians, a race of humans who ruled a vast empire in the east. it is here that the main army replenished and rested until a contigent of nijonian troops who arrived to help the alliance push deep into the empire quelling the rebellious population and their massive armed strongholds

together the armies pushed forward taking the pressure off of the nijonian goverments and pushing the rebels before them until only a few strongholds remained in rebel hands...on the mainland part of the empire atleast. it is unknown what will be done about the small chain of islands that the rebel forces took over just as the alliance crossed the border

other news

a new kingdom called the melvaunian kingdoms has arisen in the deep south as a strong leader took control of the scattered city states, forging them into a very strong economic power

on the complete other side of the continent...the far north regions, a massive meteorite touched down. the crash wouldve caused massive damage if the area had been populated but it was only a few scattered settlements here and there. some of these very same settlers report seeing a massive beast lying within the craters

To those attacking Dhevan:

The enemy is nearly finished. we merely need to oust them from their final holdout and this invasion will be finished. I reccommend a joint magical and military operation to push the remaining userpers into their graves. I recommend we attack {Mid turn} and finish them off quickly, while they are still weak.

Nijon empire to the world

we of the nijon empire would like to say thank you to all the nations of the western half of the continent who put their lives on the front lines to support an empire they knew nothing about. all the nations who participated in this costly and bloody war will be recieving a share of our massive coffers

the coalition[PM]
most of the nations agree that this needs to be finished quickly, however the hellraisers and the queendom of faluna must withdraw from the attacks as they both sustained terrible losses

magus conclave to the world

it appears a great threat may be on the rise in the far north...a massive beast. we have not had oppurtunity to send any agents up there but we plan to by [mid-turn]. reports suggest that there have been many isolated settlers who appear to have seen a massive slumbering beast in the crater

To the Coalition (PM):
We should definitely force them off the Isle. Should we also push to liberate the Nijon's island chain and captured fortresses or are the loyalist forces strong enough to retake them?

We should also address the issue of this monster to our north. If the Conclave is worried enough to send a global message, it may be dangerous enough to warrant the continued existence of this coalition until the threat is over.
