So this is going to be short: when I DM games of D&D or my own hombrew systems, it tends to play in a similarly silly way to Paranoia, but in the few times I've run Paranoia, I run it as a super-serious dystopia...

Anyone else notice if they do similar things with other games?

Last time I ran Champions, I set it in the early 60s, just to guarantee bright and shiny heroes, rather than the more modern grim 'n' gritty style.

Hunter: the Vigil played where being a Hunter is freaking awesome - wisecracking, ass kicking, heavily armed Ghostbusters. Sure, monsters suck, but we're going to DO something about it.
