I've been looking at the Dragon Familiar feat from the Draconomicon quite intensely because it has been bothering me.
In the Draconomicon it gives a table that states what level you must be in order to gain the service of certain types of dragons. I'm wanting to use this for a Pathfinder game, but the core dragons have been around for ages and I'm thinking of using something a little bit...different.
My problem is that I am unsure as to how to convert them because the Draconomicon entry doesn't actually tell you WHY you have to be a certain caster level in order to take a certain dragon as your Familiar.
Any thoughts as to how to break this down and covert some of the more interesting Pathfinder dragons to be compatible with this feat? In particular I'm looking at the Umbral and Sovereign dragons to convert.
