[Naruto d20] Alternate Dimension: Squad 17

The day after your graduation from the academy has begun. The whole 33 graduation class strolled in around 12, and for the next hour, you were lectured about the importance of duty as a shinobi, and finally being split up into your three man cells.

Squad 17, Isha Hideyu, Toshia, and Makoto Youkouro are the three that got combined to form this unlikely team. Following the instructor's orders, the three head off to the roof to meet their new jounin sensei.
As the three arrive on the top of the building, they find the jounin sensei already there and leaning against the railing with what appears to be a raven on his shoulder. At the first step you took on the tiles, the raven perks his head up, alerting the jounin of your arrival. As he lays eyes on you, he holds his hand up at you in a slight wave and a friendly "Hey there. So you three are 17?"
The jounin sensie is not too much older then yourselves, being 19 or 20 at the most. His long black hair and slim, tall physique makes him easy to point out in a crowd.

'Hm. Raven looking alerted him. Must have summoning contract. Unless it's a genjutsu or chakra construct.' Thoughts race through Makoto's head as he takes in as many details as possible about his new sensei.

"Yep. Team 17's seal user, reporting in." He says after a second of analysis.

[Skjaldbakka]

Why is it always on the rooftops, Isha thinks as she makes her way up to roof to meet her jounin sensei. "Hideyo Isha, medical specialist, reporting for duty sir," she says.

[Moranica]

A kid approaches. Serious looking kid, with straight, loose hanging black hair till just above his shoulders. Beneath thick bushy eyebrows a pair of sharp brown eyes, which look like little escapes them. The small mouth is always set in grinlike fashion, as if he is continuasly experiencing inner jokes.

What an interesting bunch, a seal user, a healer and some darkish fellow for our sensei. He can teach me much I hope.

I don't like rooftops though, not many shadows here. Anyway, time to say hello.

"Hello."

"Toshia here, lightning fast and hard to spot, reporting for duty."

[Xepheral]

Toshi waves you over towards him. "Come on over and grab a seat guys. How about a brief introduction before we get started? Name, dreams, likes, nothing too major, just to get to know each other."

[Moranica]

Toshia approaches and seats herself, facing the rest.

"Well, there's not much to tell really. As I said, my name is Toshia. It's the only thing I know about my mother, so I was named after her. My father, who used to be a member of the ANBU here, brought me here when I was little. .... my mother wasn't from here, though I am not sure why a simple farmer girl wouldn't be allowed to come with him. Anyway, I want to become an ANBU like my father and join one of the assasination squads. Besides that I will always dream of getting reunited with my mother. ... though I realise this is almost impossible......."

"As for myself, I'm smart, proud of it and always relaxed. No need to get all worked up at any time, just go with the flow and steer it when you need to. I have several skills, but you'll see them soon enough, I'm sure."

[Skjaldbakka]

Isha takes a seat as well. This is ... very informal, not really what I expected for our first briefing., she thinks to herself.

"Hello, my name is Hideyo Isha. Looks like I'll be in charge of stitching you guys back together. Hopefully you won't have to find out just how good I am doing that too soon."

[The-Mage-King]

"Eh. Not much to say. I'm Makoto Youkouro, son of the weapon seller Kouta Youkouro, who you really should buy stuff from. I work with seals, and my hobbies include practicing drawing explosive tags for when I finally am able to buy the proper materials, drawing out rough seal ideas, and so on." Makoto says, taking a seat and slouching a bit.

"Anyway, what about you, sensei? Anything you care to share?"

[Xepheral]

"Me? Well, it seems fair." As he slouches down a bit, the bird flies off from his shoulder. "My name is Toshi Kusonoki. I'm 19 years old, 20 in a few months. I'm a recent jounin, only getting promoted 6 months ago. You three are my first team of genin, and you have my word I will train you to be the best you can be. No matter if that is combat, jutsus, or supports.

So, as I'm sure you all are too, I'm eager to get started on your training. If you all want to call it a day, we can meet early tomorrow morning at the Hokage's mansion for our first mission. So, I am sorry about this, but the bird you just saw was a messenger. I'm needed elsewhere today, so you have the day off. I'll see you all early tomorrow, or maybe even this evening. Later."

With that, Toshi land hop's out and leaves you three on the rooftop.

[Skjaldbakka]

"Well, that was quick. So... what do you think of our jounin?" Isha says as she heads back down towards the street level.

[The-Mage-King]

"Eh. Not much to go on based on the, what, minute?, that we talked." Makoto replies, continuing downstairs with his team.


'Hm... Seems odd of him to not mention a test, based on what I've heard about actually becoming a genin and not just an academy graduate. That means we'll probably have one in the morning. Best prep for it.' He thinks as the group nears the lowest floor. 'Probably planning to suprise us with it, too.'

"Well, I should go when. I need to get home and talk to my dad, what with being a genin now." He says, when his team gets to the door. "Later."

And with that, he leaves, setting off for his home.

[Skjaldbakka]

"Fair enough. I'll see you in the morning then." Isha will head home as well.

[Moranica]

"Indeed, quite ... typical. I doubt he became a jounin by being this ... short with other shinobi. I'll be prepared in the morning, that's for sure."

"Nice meeting you both, by the way. Hope we can work well together."

Having said that, Toshia also makes her way home.

[Xepheral]

A few hours begin to pass by as you spend your evenings. Later that night, as you are out around the streets, you find yourself alone on a street. Nothing raises alarm, until a man in a black suit and a conical hat drops down into your path.
"You... You are a fresh genin. An easy kill, and yet so vital to the strength of the village. It's a shame you are so young, but a job is a job."
With that, the man draws a kunai from his belt and taking his stance, you know he's serious.

Rules
Follow blackjack rules. All you need to do is beat the assassin's initiative roll. All battles are separate, so enjoy.

'Oh, what a suprise. A mysterious ninja appears in front of me after my teacher failed to give us the test I was expecting. Whatever shall I do?'


"Hidden Art: Hastened Retreat!" Makoto shouts, molding chakra around himself and dashing away from the opponent.


Assuming that I'm at full power, using Kawarimi as a distraction, and substituting to K6. Chakra left would be 7.


If not at full chakra, burn an action point to get [roll0], and do the same. Let me know which it is.

For Standard, convert to move and draw kunai, and ideally 5 firecracker tags.

The assassin holds his fingers out towards you with a small spark on the tip of his fingers, then a lightning bolt shoots from his fingers towards you.

Fort Save: [roll2] vs 13

If save is failed, Hideyo is stunned for one turn.

The assassin swings his hand at your distraction, as a lightning bolt shoots from his hand, piercing the distraction and causing it to vanish.

Isha barely dodges the lightning bolt, and ducks quickly around the corner and out of sight.
