So I have a collection I am working on of the best (most interesting) music videos out there. I am pleased to say that there are some real gems but as with every collector I want more. Can you suggest some interesting videos (ie not just the band pretending to play their instruments)? Super awesome non music videos are always welcome also, but since I am more passionate about music I tend to prefer the musical ones.

Some stuff already in the collection are
HEATH- We are Water (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dJfmsA-Yxk)

Miss Derringer- Click Click (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wV9ExIGs3U)

and Seeed- Ding (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yWU0lFghxU)

So you have a vague idea what kinds of things I am looking for. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Well, what types of things are you interested in? I have quite a collection, but not all of them interest everyone. For example, this (http://videogames.memebase.com/2012/04/17/video-game-memes-im-playing-medic-from-now-on/) video I find to be pretty cool, but it may not be for one that hasn't played Team Fortress 2.

I'm not really into TF2 but that was worth watching.

You might like to check out the J Awards for best Australian music videos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J_Award).

Also, pretty much every video by Gotye (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvbSiQZfACQ&feature=relmfu) and by Architecture in Helsinki (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXIzyquw-kc) are amazing.

If what you're interested in is..."interesting"...music videos, I'm obliged to mention Rock DJ by Robbie Williams (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2rmj_robbie-williams-rock-dj-uncensored_music). I don't even think much of the song, but the video is...unforgettable. Skip to around 2:45 if you don't want to watch the whole thing.

Daft Punk has some pretty cool music videos. Including a special one they did for Tron: Legacy involving a Lightcycle chase in a canyon.

So my inner derby girl is quite pleased with the use of beautiful women on skates, and I was surprised when he took he got naked, and even more surprised at the end.

I almost totally forgot about how cool Daft Punk videos can be!

I already have and love the Gotye videos. And I am still checking out the other suggestions.

"Buchstabe" (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1379319811182062239) by Knorkator is pretty cool. Quite dadaist. Same goes for the lyrics.

"Weg nach unten" (http://www.myspace.com/video/niels/knorkator-weg-nach-unten/58450109) is a lot more artistic. But just as messed up.
"Show me the way down, I hate the day, I hate the light. Show me the way down, were solitude rules, no mirror for me face..." *hums*

Johnny Cash did a really beautiful music video for "Hurt" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J36CRZzm9vg&feature=related) just before he died. I think it really captures how he was feeling at the end of his life.

Well those were sure interesting, I did like the second one better.

@Riverdance I was already familiar with the song (thought his cover was better then the original) but I had no idea how old he was when he did it.

Oh wait... Did he not actually write the song? I always thought it was his. It seemed to be so fitting, what with his sadness over losing June Carter, and how humble it was. Well, I learn something new every day.:smallwink:

Well, I learn something new every day.:smallwink:Yup. Original's by Nine Inch Nails (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvJKVKglIRs&ob=av3n), from a concept album about (iirc) a young man's descent into the party culture and drugs until his eventual death. However, Trent Reznor, the guy who wrote it, had this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurt_(Nine_Inch_Nails_song)) to say about Cash's version:
"I pop the video in, and wow... Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps... Wow. [I felt like] I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn't mine anymore..."
Cash did a cover, but it's an amazing one.

I just realized from reading that that I was wrong about something else too. June Carter hadn't died when that was filmed. She died three months later. Johnny died four months after June. The wikipedia article says some consider the song to be Cash's epitaph. It really is beautiful.

I always bring up Radiohead's There There (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AQSLozK7aA&ob=av2e). Slightly disturbing, but one of my favourites.

Lots of videos by Rammstein as well. Here's Sonne (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIBeYoP9Wi0).

Some of my favorite music videos:
Weapon of Choice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMZwZiU0kKs) by Fatboy Slim
When We Was Fab (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHiRtNwpSYQ) by George Harrison
Anything OK Go has ever made, as an example here's This Too Shall Pass (Rube Goldberg) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybUFnY7Y8w)
Don't Let's Start (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAmFTmCs3IY) by They Might Be Giants. I like most of their early videos.
Finally, Daft Punk's video for Around The World (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9MszVE7aR4).

Let Forever Be - Chemical Brothers
Everybody Hurts - REM

I've got more, but those are the ones that jump out of my brain.

I'm gonna throw Enkelschreck (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XrK-doVUPQ) out there. Most of it'll be lost on you if you don't understand german, but the video is visually interesting nontheless.

I'll transcribe it for you somewhen this week, if you like.

The Gist is: It's an 86-year-old grandma masterfully bashing the young rappers of today.
The whole song was more of a field study in viral marketing than anything else, and yet this whole thing has more life and heart in it than most of the drivel that gets produced by self-styled "serious" artists nowadays.

And that's coming from someone who loathes most rap and hip hop, mind.

I thoroughly enjoyed the artistic style of this video; it managed to be both visually stunning and technically impressive (at least in my eyes). Overall, a great piece of work.

Check out Valve on facebook at some point. They've been posting rather a lot of fan works lately, regarding Aperture Science and Portal lately. And a recent one related to Left4Dead. About a coroner. Yeah.
