dragon fight inspires terror? f that! inspires us to make it a pile of loot!
You know, adventurers who thought that are what generated that pile of loot.
Just saying, messing with beings who have had more time to plan defenses against beings significantly more powerful than you for longer than you've been alive while having tribes of trapmakers and sorcerers completely under their thumbs that happen to be the size of small to large buildings with the strength of Hercules and the ability to breathe fire hot enough to destroy the One Ring may be a bad idea.
If that thought doesn't put the fear of God-lizards back in you, play a Shadowrun game where Dragons get involved.
