Hi all!
I recently got chaos magic and the concept got my eyes(why would I have buy it otherwise)but to survive,I need a high caster level and I don't know how to do that.I'm in a gestalt and get a feat each two levels and begin level 8 if that helps.I think I saw a feat that lets you do 10 on caster level check, does it exist?I'd appreciate if you gave sources.

Thanks in advance!

Lets see..
there is a feat in PhB2 called Arcane Thesis although affects only 1 spell
also...
if you dont mind a bit of multiclassing, get 1 level Sorcerer and get
Draconic Heritage so you unlock Draconic Power (Races of the Dragon).
The feat you are talkin about is in C.Arcane and is called Arcane Mastery.
Also if you want the CL boost to overcome Spell Resistance also check
Fortify spell (C.Arcane) & Spell Penetration (PhB).
Hope that helps a bit.

Your favorite search engine will reveals dozens of threads if you just type your thread title, many of them on GITP.

One example: here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=126354)

@OP
Please clarify: do you mean this (http://www.purpleduckgames.com/qcmg6) chaos magic, or is there another book with chaos magic?

If this is what you are referring to, a higher CL won't help you at all, since the process explicitly refers to your class level.

I made a build some time ago, I'll share it later on, if you like.

It's rather expensive, but you can also use Archmage to get up to +5 CL that stacks with everything, takes no body slot and will always be there for you.

Well Aharon,I don't think so mine is not the same cover
It's more like this
http://dndbooks.wordpress.com/2009/01/04/chaos-magic-wild-sorcery/
(Don't know how to put the link in word,I,m not really good with computer)
Just to know, does yours damage himself when casting and can create a lot of effect, depending on the manifester level check he did he either take lethal or non-lethal and if he fails,he has chance to advance in a path that can kill him if he is not careful?

For the others,it looks great, and dipping is not really a problem since I gestalt.

Thanks and if you can, keep it coming please.

EDIT:Now that I look at the page you post,it seems like it and would pretty much love to have an idea of what you did Aharon,I'd greatly appreciate

First of all, you do want to use errata:here (http://www.google.de/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=chaos%20magic%20errata&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CC4QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mongoosepublishing.com%2Fpdf% 2Fchaos_magic.pdf&ei=DqyZT-yaGc34sgaSy_G8AQ&usg=AFQjCNHKXdb7_N5Jz3c30nLR792cYR-ZAw)

They allow you to use triggers - those lower your DCs considerably. You can have as many of them active as you want, and they last 1 day/level. The best about them is that they can be used in conjunction with longer casting time, which also reduces DC.

If your DM allows, you should always use highly specific triggers - defined as something you control: Make them trigger on you saying a certain word in drow sign language.

This nets you -10 DC for the longer casting time, and -15 DC for the specific trigger. You can get some nice spell effects working from there.

Another potentially very powerful use of Chaos Magic are instantaneous Transformations. The author of the book wanted them to last only a very short instant, but that's actually not what instantaneous means in D&D terms - it just means that the magic is there very short, its effect may stay longer. This means you get undispellable, permanent buffs.

Apart from those tips: Try to always Purge Chaos as soon as you reach the second step in a Path of Chaos - it's mathematically the best option to approach the paths of chaos (obviously, if you want to roleplay some deranged, withering thing and don't care about the penalties, don't do this).

The build isn't actually worth much, because I had to ditch it - my DM didn't allow the sourcebook.
