Hi I need some d&d help. Me and some friends are going to be playing an all Drow party. I have started to make a drow wizard. My problem is the guys I’m playing with know the game better than me. I need to optimise this my character we start at ecl of 5 so a level adjust of 2 and class levels. I would like to go all wizard. Can some one come up with some builds ideas for me or let me know what I can do better ? This is what I got so far (the book im aloud to use are PHB 1, PHD 2, DMG, MM 1,Drow of the underdark) the dm started us with 9000 gold
Name Kor’inth Vloss
Str 10 dex 20 con 16 int 20 wis 10 cha 12 (that’s after all my bonuses at level 3 for drow)
Hp 18 ac 20
Feats -light armor –gift of the spider queen
(light armor because I wear twilight mithral +1)(I know its from a different book but I already cheeked with the dm to see if it was ok) I went as a generalist but I don’t know if that is a good idea. I had in mined this spells list - Scorching Ray, Dimension Hop, Invisibility, Kelgore’s Fire Bolt, Charm Person, shield , Disguise Self.

Consider lesser drow for less LA. As a drow is an elf, will elven generalist work?

General comment: Playing a full caster with an LA race is usually not worth it. Even if LA buy-off is in place, buying off 2 LA is tough on a full caster. You'll be heavily gimped.

its a all drow party so the rest of the party has the same LA.

Why light armor prof feat? A Twilight Mithril Chain Shirt has 0 ACP which means you would take no penalties while wearing it with or without the feat. If you want to take advantage of the feat Gift of the Spider Queen you'll really want to look into the feat Magic in the Blood from Players Guide to Faerun, a level of Drow Paragon (http://srd.dndonlinegames.com/unearthedParagon.html#drow-paragon), and a Ring of Drow Blood (DoTU). This gives you five daily uses of each of your SLAs, which can then be siphoned into Gift of the Spider Queen.

If they know the game better than you, then what's effectively a 2-level advantage will help even it out. Plus it's just plain good policy to avoid a level adjustment on a caster, the optimal choice would be the lesser drow variant from PGtF p190-191.

Specialize in Conjuration, and get the Abrupt Jaunt ACF in PH2. Take Obtain Familiar at 3rd level, and get the Elf Wizard 3 racial substitution level in RotW. Get a Hummingbird familiar, it's in Dragon issue 323, it uses the stats for a Thrush in the DMG, and it gives +4 initiative. That Elf Wizard 3 sub level will double the bonus to +8 initiative. I'd also use the Martial Wizard (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#wizard) variant from UA, to get Improved Initiative in place of Scribe Scroll. Use the Domain Power ACF in CC to replace your Wizard 5 bonus feat with the Planning domain's granted power, which gives you Extend Spell. Say your character visited the Otyugh Hole detailed in CS, to get Iron Will for 3,000 gp without having to spend a feat on it. Your next ten levels should be in the Incantatrix prestige class from PGtF, your bonus metamagic feats should definitely include Persistent Spell.

Google-up a Batman Wizard guide, that should put you on the right path.

Don't be a Lesser Drow, they are worse than normal Elves. If everyone is eating Drow LA, you won't be in too much trouble. You'll still get 9ths, and you can buy them back.

Other than that, take a look at Master Specialist from Complete Mage. Pretty much always worth taking

Is everyone eating the LA, or is the DM ignoring the LA? The difference between those two is quite notable.
