So, I've been making plans to work the daemons into a pathfinder game, and I noticed a bit of a problem. Namely, the cr of the purrodaemon seemed to be disproportionately high compared to the rest of the deacons (cr 18 compared to a cr 13 of the Thanadaemon). I figured this threw a wrench in my plans of throwing the various deacons in sequence at the players.

My question is thus: is there an effective way to bring down the cr of a monster in pathfinder?

bonus points for making me look stupid and linking a lesser purrodaemon.

I'm not sure if the monster advancement rules are the same in PF as 3.5s, but if they're fairly similar you can just remove some HD, NA, reduce some abilities scores, etc. Or you could figure out what their strongest points are and ignore those - if it has dangerous SLAs, ignore them. If it's a great melee threat, have it hang back when it can.
