Can anyone point me to where I might find the gestation period? There's a werebear NPC I'm considering trying to solicit a bite from and would just like to know what the specifics are.

I believe you have until the next full moon before you will transform for the first time and become an actual lycan.

I imagine it depends on the particular animal. For bears about 7 months (http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/wildlife/facts/mammals/bear/black_bear_biology_faq.htm#biofaq17), wolves maybe two months (http://www.blueplanetbiomes.org/gray_wolf.htm), rats 22 days (http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=18+1804&aid=889). I hadn't really thought about what happens when you get a wereX pregnant. Is lycanthropy vertically transmissible (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertical_transmission)?

Or did you mean incubation period? :smallamused:

When a character contracts lycanthropy through a lycanthrope’s bite (see above), no symptoms appear until the first night of the next full moon. On that night, the afflicted character involuntarily assumes animal form and forgets his or her own identity, temporarily becoming an NPC under the DM’s control. The character remains in animal form, assuming the appropriate alignment, until the next dawn.
