Hi guys long time reader first time poster.

I am starting a shadowbane stalker

So far I was thinking about Human as race
elf might also be considered for the higher dex

I am starting this guy he will start at level 3
thinking of 1 cleric and 2 rogue, for evasion
These could maybe be rearranged
my stats are
Str:10
Dex:15
Con:14
Int: 12
Wis: 17
Cha: 13

for feats so far as a human
I was thinking of
Practiced spellcaster
Two weapon fighting
and Finesse

problem is that for casting a spell
takes one turn to unsheathe my weapon
and one turn to cast it

magic items are not obtainable so easy

so was thinking of going for a shield but what should I pick as feat then?

The books we use, complete arcane complete warrior complete adventure and complete divine

if anyone has any ideas don't hold back

If you're TWFing, use a quarterstaff. It's a free action to remove and replace your secondary hand. The one downside is that it doesn't finesse well.

Evasion is a useful ability, but at every even-numbered level, it's competing with a full new level of spells, and at every odd-numbered level, it's competing with 2 high-level spell slots. Unless it comes up in a full half of your fights (as in: you both roll and succeed in reflex saves for reduced damage), the spells are going to come into play more often, as well as generally being able to prevent or reduce that sort of damage.

I'd hesitate to get Finesse. Until Divine Agility enters the picture at ECL 11 (if it's included in one of those books), it's much harder to boost Dex than it is Strength.

Craft Wondrous Item might seem like a dry feat, but if you can't get your hands on staples like Boots of Speed or a Monk's Belt, it can make that possible. And if you can build custom items per the DMG guidelines, it becomes very versatile. Don't worry about the experience cost - if you use the DMG experience rules, on the off-chance that you do spend enough EXP to fall a level short, accelerated EXP accumulation will catch you back up to where you'd otherwise be after a fight or two.

so your advice is getting 15 in strength rather than dex? and waiting with the second rogue level?

Drawing a weapon is a move action if your BAB is higher than +1
Casting a spell is usually a standard action

Have you considered the Divine Trickster (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9623145&postcount=7)?
Rogue 3/ Cleric 3/ Divine Trickster 10/ Divine Oracle 4 is not too shabby.

Move action eh?

our GM says it takes an entire turn drawing your weapon unless you have fast drawn.

So if I were within melee range of a monster I could switch weapon (my move action) then use a spell ( my standard action)?

you have 2 actions if I remeber right?

or move and ready weapon would also use up my turn?

Okay then. Take a look at page 141 of your PHB or use this handy chart (http://srd.dndonlinegames.com/actionsInCombat.html).

In a round you can do a Full Round Action, a Standard Action + a Move Action, or Two Move Actions.

I recommend a quick read-through of these articles
