For a homebrew campaign, the main group of Wizards has created a type of guardian made by binding an elemental to a permanent corporeal form (must be inanimate) via a ritual (Elementals are usually incorporeal spirits able to manifest physically only for short periods of time).

My question here is: What is the best creature type for these guys? Should they be Outsiders, as Elementals? Or perhaps Constructs, more akin to animated objects? Or another creature type entirely?

On a secondary note, physical abilities will be more based off the statue or w/e the elemental is bound to, with special abilities and adjustments dependent on the type and power of the elemental bound to it.

How about...

Dun, dun, DUN!

Elementals? Because Elementals are already their own type, you know, and just because their wearing some "clothes" doesn't change their type.

In PF Elemental is a Subtype of Outsiders.

By the same token though, an inanimate object with a possessing force is still a construct, regardless of possessing force.

Ah, missed the PF.

But you just answered your own question; it would be a construct by necessity.

Most contructs are created by binding elementals into them anyway.
