Because my top 10 list has been garnering some attention and variations, I thought I'd go ahead and do a top 10 PrC list.

I have no idea what mine would be :smallconfused: But I'll post it as soon as I can think of it!

In No particular order:

Revenant Blade - Double bladed scimitar and power attack on both ends? Awesome. This gives melee nice things
Rainbow Servant - I like adding this to something like Beguiler to get all cleric spells spontaneously for all times.
Bone Knight - Awesome immunities and spell progression. What's not to love?
Ur-Priest - No explanation needed.
Eternal Blade - Warblade awesomeness + Island In Time.
Force Missile Mage - Magic Missile, one of my favorite spells ever.
Anima Mage - Binder and Wizard? Sign me up!
Swiftblade - I *really* love haste.
Divine Champion - Makes a really interesting boost to the Paladin
War Weaver - Super buff weaving of win!

Mostly homebrew stuff, actually. Of official PrCs, though:

Primeval. They're just a lot of fun. You get to turn into animals and tear people's throats out.
Shadowcraft Mage. Broken, but so much fun.
Constructor. I like Astral Constructs, and this class makes Astral Constructs awesome.
Slayer. It's a cool psionic gish PrC, with some nice abilities- Cerebral Blind/Immunity especially.
Pyrokineticist. Definitely not a good prestige class, but it's the only class I know of that's built around killing things with fire. Plus, my favorite character was a Pyrokineticist.
Swiftblade. SO. COOL.
War Mind. It's like the prestige class version of a Psychic Warrior if they were Sun Tzu.
Anarchic Initiate. Yeah, it's one of the only two really overpowered Psion prestige classes, but it makes the best Psionic blasters and it's a really cool idea.
Soulbow. It's the WOTC Soulknife's only saving grace. I've always wanted to play a Thri-Kreen MWF Soulbow in a PbP- it'd be impractical in a realtime game, since each full attack would entail about a bazillion attack rolls- all your attacks that you're making, doubled from the Lucky rerolls.
Thrallherd. TEH BROKENZ. That said, while I'd never play it as a PC, it's the ultimate BBEG prestige class.

1. Master of Many Forms - Because, honestly, are there any problems wildshape can't solve?

2. Diamond Warrior - 3.0 online only class for psywarrior/monk class. Throw in Tashalatora and you have a workable monk. Some adjustments necessary for 3.5, you can make it work. Trust me. Why oh why was this never updated for 3.5?

3. War Hulk - Throw anything at anyone. What's not to like?

4. Chameleon - Be anything when you need to be. Versatility always boosts anyone (except a caster)

5. Shadow Thief of Amn, 5-level prestige rogue-type with 3d6 SA and 2 bonus feats. Umm, rogue+

6. Incarnum blade, 5-level prestige incarnum with full BAB. yeah, does nothing for your meldshaper level but I like it anyway.

7. Ultimate Magus - yeah, not optimal because you lose at least one caster level no matter how you play it, but burn metamagic for free? I like it. Working on one right now

More later, post now before I forget and computer reboots.

(In No particular order)

1: Ur-Priest- its just so sinister and tasty without any un needed cheese

2: Drunken Master- Its just so funny!

3: Thrall-Herd- Double cohort and a never ending supply of followers yes please, Also I need to check I know it says you can't gain leadership but your thralls can. A nice combo is be a bard/pally/sorc/ or any charisma based classs and take undead leadership and leadership you get two cohorts make them both thrall-herds its so funny to rule!

4: Hellfire Warlock- so much death!!!

5: Mindbender: Prermanent CHARMING!!! so beautiful

6:Pale Master: undeath is so easy to break

7: Dervish: so easily broken beyond belief

8: Frenzied Beserker: I just love this class so much

9:Mystic Thuerge: So great for fluff and multi-tasking

10: Fist of the Forest: Such a powerful and flavorful class and its just .... perfect

Honorable mentions = Shadow crafter, Shadowcraft Mage, Shadow adept, sublime cord, pious Templar, Champion of CL, Blood Magus (LOL SURPRISE!!)
and all time humor mages Cancer Mage and Blue Wizard

Cancer Mage you get to sing: "Im a tumor, im a tumor!"

Blue Wizard: Power word orgasm, Bardic hiding its hilarious!!!!

In no particular order :

Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil. "Not dying" is fun.
Incantatrix. Overkill is fun too.
Spellguard. Overkill is even funnier when other people do it.
Celestial Mystic. It's fun to be a mortal Cleric who lives higher in Celestia than most Angels.
Yathrinshee + True Nec = 3.0 True Nec. Death is fun.
Seeker of the Song. One-bard-band.
Sublime Chord. Because Archbard, that's why.
Mind Mage. Because Theurging is only fun when it's done right.
Master Specialist. Because Wizards need class features like everyone else needs spells.

IotSFV: One of my first experiences with immediate action magic that wasn't featherfall.

Ultimate Magus: Love the flavor

Shadowcraft Mage: Played a gnome with this once. He hid, while invisible, while standing on walls and ceilings. Try to find that.

Frenzied Berzerker: If you're going to be melee, might as well hit that hard.

Dragon Disciple: I admit, I tried to make a gish out of it.

Hmm.. I could pretty much make a top ten per role, but sure
1: Master Specialist. It's really not all that cheesy. More like Wizard+, and it's a lot of fun to differentiate your wizard by his chosen school.
2: Champion of Gwynharwyf. While it's usually seen as a poor PrC, it lets your Barbarian have Paladin powers! That's like having a Paladin that doesn't suck!
3: Sword of the Arcane Order. It's a lot of fun to gish like this, and you can start out melee to pull it off, meaning you start melee low-level, then *Continue contributing* in the high levels!
4: Ur-Priest. I've never played one, I want to play one, my DM would smack me for playing one (Especially in Faerun!)
5: Legendary Leader. It's the fluff more than the class, but the bonus feat is nice and if you want to be a leadermonkey, this is the high road. The low road being Thrallherd.
6: Legacy Champion. When your other prestige class ended too soon, and you really want the ability to pull 9th level spells from the spellpool.
7: Dervish. With two Keen weapons of Wounding.
8: Beholder Mage. Technically this class allows noncasters to get 9th level spells in 10 levels. You just have to buy a polymorph into a beholder to make it work. Or, you know, you could be a beholderkin.
9: Eye of Gruumsh. Ok, maybe it's just an unusual affinity for prestige classes that make you poke out your eye, but I really like the whole "I rage, EVERYBODY Rages!" thing.
10: Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil. Many a DM has quit over this, I'm sure.

My personal favorites are, in no particular order:
1. Swiftblade. So much awesome, it's worth 4 lost caster levels. Each and every one of them.
2. Chameleon. I like switching roles, and letting me use just about any class feature while having any other role is pretty nice.
3. Abjurant Champion. I like Gishes, and this is a powerful class that goes in any Gish, despite it's relative lack of flavor.
4. Knight of the Sacred Seal. Because awesome.
5. Suel Arcanamach. It's a gish in a can that works and has some nice class features and flavor.
6. Warshaper. Because changelings.
7. Warminds. Because manifesting + BAB + Awesome class features is nice.
8. Hellfire Warlock. Because Glaivelocks needed MOAR DAMAGE.
9. Knight Phantom. I've always found them to be just plain awesome.
10. Pale Master. Despite the first level, the rest of the class is made of win.

Protean Adept- Because advancing factotum is sweet along with class mimicking
Chameleon
Warshaper
Master of Many Forms
Silver Pyromancer- Paladin spells as arcane is sexy
Thrallherd.

But my favorite of all is this gem:

Leaching Psyche (http://dsp-d20-srd.wikidot.com/leaching-psyche)

Mimic everything? Yes please... especially on a tactician chassis.

4. Planar Shepherd
5. Ruby Knight Vindicator
6. Eternal Blade
7. Frenzied Berzerker

Believe it or not I like most of these for fluff reasons and not because they can snap the game in two like a twig.

As for me... let me get back to you on that as I think a little more about it. I have been DM for far longer than a player, so there's difference in experiences and duration of use.

-Master of Shrouds (cause never got to reach that level...)

1. Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil - Who doesn't like prismatic magic?

2. Sandshaper - 40+ spells added to my spells known. Sign me up.

3. Eternal Blade - Just wear a green tunic and you get to play Link from LoZ.

4. Frenzied Berserker - Kill everything in one hit. Inlcuding your party.

5. Master of Many Forms - A sprinkle of Assume Supernatural Ability makes this a blast.

6. Trapsmith - BOOM!!

7. Shadowcraft Mage - What do you mean my illusions aren't real?

9. Hellfire Warlock - Dip Binder and go to town.

Jade Phoenix Mage, obviously.
Suel Arcanamach, a gish with skills? Sign me in!
Harper Paragon, again a gish with skills and favored enemy (evil). Also, Jaheira.
Child of Khyber, a friend of mine is playing one and having a blast, everyone in the table is kind of jealous.
Blade of Orien, fun with teleports.
Telflammar Shadowlord, even more fun with teleports. I'd like this even more than Blade of Orien if not for the fluff implications.
Blade Dancer, love the flavor, love the Speed, Acrobatics is one of my favorite abilitie in all of D&D.
Thayan Gladiator, because natural weapon fighters are all kinds of fun.
Assassin, love the fluff and a gish with skills.
Dragon Devotee, a stepping stone to make most classes gishes with skill

A bit difficult for me. Let's see if I can get to 10.

Master of Nine
Prestige Paladin
Church Inquisitor
Sacred Exorcist
Initiate of the Seven Fold Veil (despite its awful prerequisites)
Loremaster
Archmage
Ultimate Magus
Celestial Mystic
Arcane Trickster

Made it. Surprised about Arcane Trickster. I don't play Rogues, but I think I would have fun with the prestige class for roleplaying purposes.

Incantatrix, because you can persist, and it has great fluff
Anima Mage, because binding rocks in flavor and mechanics
Dweomerkeeper, for (Su) spells
Ultimate Magus, for metamagic fun
Shadowcraft Mage, because you can become a killer gnome
Nar Demonbinder, for more UM fun
Jade Phoenix Mage, for nuking yourself and living to tell about it
Eternal Blade, for having another kind of familiar
Ruby Knight Vindicator, mostly for quick access to thicket and swift-action fun
Shadow Adept, because you just shrug when the weave is down

Chameleon- HEYY EVERYONE, I can be anything you will ever need
Assassin- Just for the pure flavor, and satisfaction of blowing someone's heart out
Swiftblade- It's like you're 5 times more hyper than that squirrel with the caffeine
Bone Knight- Hullo I'm like Ghost Rider, cept far more bad ass
Greyguard- I'm a paladin... with the obligatory shtick removed from my ass

DRUNKEN MASTER- See that expensive Ming Dynasty Vase? I have bonuses to smashing your face in with it.

ooh, you got a few of my favorites as well.

Arcane Heirophant: Do everything from wildshape to ubermount builds. Best Theurge in my books.

Swiftblade: Hardcore Gish for those who want to not be sorcadins, and stomp said sorcadins at every turn.

Walker in the Wastes: Lichdom is hard core. Dry Lichdom is BA. Plus, salt trade.

Eternal Blade: Early Maneuvers? Check! Awesome Flavor? Check! Ignore all DR? Check!

Disciple of Dispater: Great for crit builds. Not much to say past that!

Ruby Knight Vindicator: Good maneuvers, good spellcasting (Kinda), and good class features, including extra swifts.

Sapphire Hierarch: What? No new Binds? Guess I'll have to cast open Chakra! :smallwink: Great for layering extra defenses or keeping buffs up. Midnight Metamagic is an option as well.

Metaphysical Spellshaper: 3rd Party, I know, but it's Incantatrix in 3 levels, and early entry is easy for both cleric and wizard!

Sublime Chord/Ur Priest: Mixing in some Arcane/Divine casting is a great way to add power to a build. The fun part for Sublime Chord is figuring out how to qualify as cheaply as possible! :smalltongue:

1. Master Thrower: This class has convinced me that throwing weapons is the coolest thing you can possibly do in any given situation. It's absurdly good and tons of fun.
2. Ordained Champion: Amazing for melee-oriented Clerics!
3. Incandescent Champion: Love, love, love, love the fluff!
4. Sandshaper: Have a bunch of great spells for that sorcerer spell list of yours! Also, desert fluff!
5: Jade Pheonix Mage: Again, great fluff and a very interesting gish.
6: Abjurant Champion: Not particularly creative, but damn good and I love gishes
7. Shadow Sentinel: Mostly a fluff choice, though I would love to find a way to work this into a good build.
8. Dervish: Because attacking on the go is a wonderful thing.
9. (EDIT): Daggerspell Mage: The scructure and over-specificity of this class bugs me a little or else it would be higher up, but it's got a great channeling mechanic and it's great for dex-based gishes (which are my favorite kind).
10. War Mind: Haven't actually been able to play one of these, but maaan does it sound like fun!

Like many others, in no particular order.

1. Pyrokineticist: One of the first PrC's I thought was totally awesome, namely their capstone ability. They may suck, but they're cool.
2. Master of Many Forms: I've always liked shape changing.
3. Swiftblade: I've also always liked the idea of a gish focused on speed. Swiftblade fits the role perfectly.
4. Drunken Master: Their abilities are pretty funny. Kind of disappointing they don't get full BAB, but very cool.
5. Sacred Fist: BAMF combo of Cleric and Monk.
6. Totem Rager: Love Totemist, throw in raging, extra cool!
7. Rage Mage: For lolz.
8. Abjurant Champion: Sucker for such an awesome gish.
9. Spellwarp Sniper: Ray master!
10. War Hulk: Especially when gestalted. So much strength...
11. Beastmaster: So many animal companions! Really, this is a pretty cool PrC.
12. Fist of Raziel: A lot of baddonkery righteousness.
13. Disciple of the Eye: I actually think it's quite janky, but it makes me smile.

THEChanger

Alright. I can't really say that I like any of these above another, but they would be my top ten.

1. Ghost-Faced Killer. Perhaps not the strongest choice, but playing something so frightening that it's attacks don't kill by damage done, but simply from fear? It's a good time.

2. Nightmare Spinner/Dread Witch. I really consider these two a single PrC, because if you want to focus on fear badly enough to take one, you should take the other too. For a total loss of 2 Caster Levels, your Fear effects affect anything not 4 levels higher than you(Immune to Fear? I don't think so, Mr. Shinny-Blades) and deal subdual damage. Also, you can eat Fear sent at you, bounce it back, project it in auras, touch attacks, rays, fireballs, summons, lightning bolts...you get the picture. You are a master of Fear.

3. Acolyte of the Skin. Not a particularly good PrC, but there's something that on a very intrinsic level is just creepy about these guys. They sewed a demon's skin to replace their own. I love the look on my players faces when they say "I want to do that!" and then I tell them exactly how an Acolyte gets their power.

4. Bear Warrior. Because when I get angry, I want to turn into a bear too.

5. Sentinal of Bharrai. Again, turning into a bear. But on top of that, they have a very special ability which they can use once a week.
Calvary of Dire Bears.
Yes, this PrC lets you summon Bear Calvary. Win. Combine with a Were-Bear Urksan Bear Warrior for best results.

6. Ironsoul Forgemaster. My favorite PrC in my favorite system. Dwarves are already awesome to start with. Add in making armor and weapons from raw unshaped souls, well, that's one more reason to pick a dwarf over an elf.

7. Dracolexi. This one is for the fluff. Dracolexi tap into the power of words, something which resonates very deeply with me. That, and Power Word spells are fun.

8. Risen Martyr. You are so good, your goodness outshines Death itself. Sure, after level 10 of this PrC you die your final death, but in the meantime you are so freaking awesome!

9. Stormsinger. Forget the Virtuoso, forget the Sublime Chord. This is what real bards, the ones who aspire to manliness, take. The songs of a Stormsinger have so much pure, undiluted manliness, it cannot be contained, and so the manliness lashes out as pure lightning. Or turns into a swirling vortex of vengeance. On top of that, you get bonuses for dramatically raging against the oncoming storm. MANLY BARDS!

10. Leviathan Hunter. It's over twice the size of the castle we just left, has razorsharp claws, teeth the size of houses, and eyes the size of a large fountain? No problem. I'll just climb it and stab it in the nose. And after, I'll cut off a scale and wear it as armor. And people will finally know my name!

CGforever!

I'm going to go ahead and add another swiftblade, because dammit, they're awesome.

1. Swiftblade: My oh my, how I love thee! Let me put it this way, my favorite class combination used to be scout/transmuter. Yes, I know it's terrible, but I liked the idea of it. Then came along swiftblade, which seemed catered to this exact combination, and made up for its' suck by being one of the most powerful prestige classes around. I love the whole super-fast-and-dodgey thing. I also love how the abilities have (generally) cool names like Evasive Celerity. Did you ever play the first half-life? You know those female assassins you fight later on? Remember how fast and jerky they were? That's kinda how I imagine swiftblades.

2. Bladesingers/arcane archers: Elf fighter/mages who put spells on their weapons while fighting. Weakly implemented. Great idea.

3. Tempest: Also weak, but cool name and good general idea.

4. Olin Gisir: An elf loremaster-lite with some alignment based cleric spells added in.

5. Ruathar: Everytime I play a character with wizard levels, they end up being a ruathar if I can help it. I love both the fluff and the crunch.

6. Archmage: Again, both fluff and crunch. I've always thought this was a neat class, since I first saw it in the faerun book.

7. Duelist: An awesome concept, perhaps poorly implemented.

8. Ghostwalker: Man, if it weren't for swiftblade, all my choices would be pretty weak. This class has some of the coolest fluff, as well as some good-in-theory abilities. It has a Punisher feel, which I love.

9. Initiate of the Seven Fold Veil: Okay, I don't even have this book, but I love the prismatic spells and this is an awesome name.

10. Church Inquisitor: Your standard "Can't fool me!" cleric in a can. I regret it not turning undead so well, but eh, still love it.
